This study examines and compares public library services for immigrants in the U.S. in the early 1900s and nowadays. U.S. public libraries in the early 1900s supported the Americanizing movement by opening English language classes and providing information that is essential for U.S. citizenship. Public librarians also recognized the importance of foreign language materials; by providing foreign language materials and developing diverse services to reach immigrants, public libraries eventually hastened assimilation processes. Despite a gap of one hundred years, the situation today is not very different. Public libraries still try hard to serve their ethnic patrons with extensive foreignlanguage collections and culturally diverse library programs, while still emphasizing English language education.

This research deals with the study of the Arlington Public Library and present situations of public libraries providing Korean language materials services in the United States. The focus of this research is on aspects of the Arlington Public Library, Texas : collecting, classifying, Possessing. circulating, and managing the Korean language materials. In addition, this research includes the description of the current trends of Korean language services in public libraries around the US with literature review methods. This research would be a useful steppingstone when libraries in other countries begin services with Korean language materials, or when public libraries in Korea begin to provide foreign language services.

Objectives: This study analyzes factors related to English communication skills in the dental health services of clinical dental hygienists who provide dental medical services to foreigners. Methods: Surveys were conducted to measure students' English communication skills. Participants comprised 195 clinical dental hygienists working at dental English study cafes or who provided dental medical services to foreigners. After analyzing the differences in English communication skills, hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed on the factors related to English communication skills. Results: English communication skill of dental hygienists was 1.96 points out of 5 points. The factors related to the English communication skill of the clinical dental hygienists were foreign patient care, language training experience, overseas living experience, and certified English proficiency. The adjusted explanatory power of this model was 53.0%. Conclusions: Dental hygienists in charge of foreign patients have experience in language training and overseas residence, have a language qualification certificate, and have higher English communication skills. It is necessary to develop English language learning programs based on metaverse to develop the English communication skills of dental hygienists who provide dental health services to foreign patients and to operate a creative educational environment to increase interest in learning English.

The international status of the Korean language has been elevated as the demand for studying the language among foreign students has grown sharply over the past few years. Unfortunately, foreign students face difficulties in learning the language, conflicts are also deepening between Korean and foreign students. Using Erin Sander's design research spiral, this paper investigates foreigners' Korean language learning experiences, identify the main cognitive and affective factors influencing their learning process. Research findings collected with the design analysis revealed needs and insights that offer opportunities relevant specifically for the conception, design and development of new products and services related to Korean language learning.

Objective: This study is to evaluate the awareness, needs, and barriers in patient counseling for hospitalized foreign patients. As the number of foreign population increases in Korea, demands on quality of Korean health services are rapidly increasing. Previously most of the studies have focused on the availability and utilization of healthcare service, and prevalence of disease for foreigners, however, no study has been conducted on quality of direct-patient care such as patient counseling. Method: In the present study, a survey was conducted on a total of 161 participants between March 7 and May 7 in 2014. The study subjects were consisted with 103 foreign patients who had experienced inpatient care within 1 year and 58 hospital pharmacists who work in the hospital with foreign inpatients. Results: Firstly, the hospital pharmacists were highly aware of the necessity of counseling for foreign inpatients. Secondly, the largest portion of barrier to patient counseling service was accounted a lack of foreign language skills. Lastly, the monitoring of efficacy, potential adverse reactions and discharge follow-up were emphasized. Conclusion: Effective communication skills would be essential to improve pharmaceutical care services to foreign inpatients.

This study focused on understanding the Korean university students' (both undergraduates and graduates) use of foreign language for scholarly information retrieval especially in different search strategies employed based on users' characteristics. A new model was developed based on Ellis's behavioral model of information seeking strategies. The research applied both quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the data. The students used a variety of foreign language information seeking strategies at different stages of academic information retrieval based on his/her field of study or level of education. The liberal arts and social science students had more difficulty in selecting proper search terms in the foreign language than the science and technology students. This difficulty resulted in less preference for using foreign language queries by the liberal arts and social science students. The students relied more on the bibliographic and citation information in scholarly information retrieval using foreign language queries than the Korean queries. The research outcomes should provide some guidelines on how the Korean university libraries offer information literacy programs and other services based on the patrons' characteristics.

Previous research on university life of Chinese students studying in Korea has been conducted on students in Korea, but Chinese students have a sense of belonging and university prejudice against Korean universities, so the objectivity of research is not clear. This paper conducted a survey of the Chinese people in China and conducted a media search for attracting foreign students. Not all foreign students are proficient in Korean language. Even students who have completed more than one year of education in the Korean language institutes or passed advanced level of Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) have difficulties in everyday life and acquiring a degree. According to the results of this study, until foreign students who lack sufficient Korean language skills are able to adapt to culture and acquire information in Korea, it is desirable to prepare multilingual content services so that they can obtain academic information or daily information necessary for studying in their native language.

The emergence of generative hyperscale artificial intelligence (AI) has enabled new services, such as image-generating AI and conversational AI based on large language models. Such services likely lead to the influx of numerous users, who cannot be handled using conventional AI models. Furthermore, the exponential increase in training data, computations, and high user demand of AI models has led to intensive hardware resource consumption, highlighting the need to develop domain-specific semiconductors for hyperscale AI. In this technical report, we describe development trends in technologies for hyperscale AI processors pursued by domestic and foreign semiconductor companies, such as NVIDIA, Graphcore, Tesla, Google, Meta, SAPEON, FuriosaAI, and Rebellions.

In recent years, studies have emerged highlighting the role of social networking services in the English as a foreign language context of Korea, particularly for teaching and learning, but none examine the role of Facebook in enhancing communities of practice. Therefore, this study undertakes such an endeavor on a Korea-based language teacher organization Facebook group. Social networking analysis came to reveal a group consisting of largely non-engaged members, with several key users successfully bridging the network and promoting engagement and interaction via commenting. Although the most viral posts were disproportionately organizational, professional development clearly emerges as the largest concern for active members. Ultimately, it will be critical for increasing success of the group as a social networking service to establish a means of further engaging all members, including those on the network periphery. To fully meet organizational goals, it will be imperative for key actors to be used increasingly proactively.

Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the oral health literacy of foreign students in Korea regarding their utilization of dental clinic services and oral care products. Methods: This study measured the oral health literacy through a self-administered questionnaire that were distributed among 145 foreign students in Seoul and 153 Korean students in Wonju, Gangwon province. The questionnaire is used to assess the oral health literacy with a total of 92 questions including 30 questions on linguistic oral health literacy, and 40 questions on functional oral health literacy (sentence translation ability 27 questions, document decoding ability 13 questions), and 22 questions on the general characteristics. The collected data were analyzed by frequency test, ${\chi}^2$, independent t-test, and ANOVA with p-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The linguistic oral health literacy awareness score was doubly lower in foreign students $20.5{\pm}22.4%$ than Korean students $53.9{\pm}18.4%$ (p<0.05), three words were not statistically significant with less than 10% of all the foreign and Korean students. Correct answer rate of sentence translation ability was statistically significant in all questions by foreign students $26.7{\pm}27.1%$ and Korean students $99.0{\pm}2.3%$ (p<0.05). Correct answer rate of document decoding ability showed a relatively small difference between foreign students and Korean students with $54.7{\pm}33.1%$ and $87.3{\pm}8.7%$, respectively, but it was statistically significant in all questions (p<0.05). Oral health literacy according to residence period and Korean language class level of foreign students were the most correlated among the other variables (p<0.05). Conclusions: Dental terminology was difficult for ordinary people to understand regardless of the Korean language proficiency levels, so it is recommended and needed to express dental clinical terms in simple layman's term or to use illustrations to dental patients. In case of foreign residents in Korea, interpretation services are needed. Additionally, labels and instructions of oral hygiene products retailed in Korea with the consideration for foreigners are required.
