The purpose of this paper is to develop a desirable government policy for attracting highly skilled professional foreign human resources. To achieve the purpose, following research methods were pursued; 1) a review on the current status of government policy on highly qualified foreign professionals, 2) case studies on foreign governments' policy on the issue, 3) a survey over Korean firms which are employing foreign high-tech professionals. Based on above research results, policy suggestions for the Korean government are recommended as follows: formulating a basic framework of the government policy to attract foreign high-tech professionals, revising the nonimmigrant visa policy for foreign professionals, collecting and distributing personnel data of foreign applicants for jobs In Korea, developing external and internal public relations, revising the method of supporting small and medium-sized firms, taking a systematic approach to attract korean-American scientists, redesigning sponsorship programs for inviting world famous scholars and scientists, increasing global joint research projects, facilitating favorable infrastructure for foreign engineers and scientists.

In an ever-tougher competitive environment caused by globalization, domestic companies are increasingly adopting business strategies aimed at continuously securing competitive advantage by taking advantage of globally-competitive foreign professionals. Despite a persistent rise of such trend, domestic researches regard migrant workers as the socially underprivileged, and delve into the issue of migrant workers from the policy, welfare, and ethical perspectives. With a growing need to deal with migrant professionals from the strategic viewpoint - to acquire professional talent in an era of global competition, it becomes essential to verify the real effectiveness of migrant professionals. Yet, there has been relatively little discussion of it. This study assumes that based on th137e integration-learning perspective on diversity, the greater the number of foreign professionals, the greater the effect on organizational innovative performance. Also could be effective in managing diversity is diversity-friendly HRM which involves eliminating discrimination against migrant professional workers and treating them fairly. Based on the data collected from 72 domestic companies, this study conducted an empirical analysis of the impact of the percentage of foreign professionals in the total workforce on organizational innovative performance and of the moderating role of diversity-friendly HRM. The results show that the proportion of foreign professionals in the entire workforce has had no significant impact on organizational innovative performance, and that the proportion of foreign professionals in the total workforce and diversity-friendly HRM have had a interaction effect on organizational innovative performance. Based on these research results, the study attempted to interpret the significance of the proportion that migrant professionals make up of the total workforce and of diversity-friendly HRM in relation to organizational innovative performance, and their implications for diversity management.

Purpose: As Korea has been rapidly transformed to be a multicultural society, it becomes essential for nurses to develop cultural competency. The purpose of this descriptive study was to assess the cultural competency level of general hospital nurses and to examine its contributing factors adopting ecological model. Method: A convenience sample of 327 nurses from six general hospitals in Seoul metropolitan area was recruited between November 14 to 28, 2011. Cultural competency was measured using the Korean version of the Caffrey Cultural Competence in Healthcare Scale (CCCHS) and Cultural Competence Assessment(CCA). Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed to assess the influence of intrapersonal, cultural-experience, and organizational factors on cultural competency. Results: Mean cultural competency in this study was 2.57(${\pm}0.43$). Cultural competency was associated with job position (p=.044) at the intrapersonal level. At the cultural experience level, foreign language classes experience (p=.005), fluency in a foreign language (p=.000), experience of working with foreign health care professionals (p=.000) were associated cultural competency. At the organizational level, training program (p=.000), job description (p=.002), health education materials (p=.016), insufficient job control (p=.000), and interpersonal conflicts (p=.011) showed significant difference. Foreign language class experience, foreign language fluency, experience of working with foreign health care professionals, and job control were the most consistent predictors of cultural competence and explained 20.4% of the total variance in the proposed ecological model. Conclusions: The findings suggest that to enhance cultural competency in general hospital nurses, cultural experience and organizational factors need to be more fully considered than intrapersonal factors.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore health-related experiences of the foreign wives. Methods: A qualitative research design was used to understand the health-related experiences of foreign wives. Ten informants were interviewed from December 2007 to December 2009. Results: The health related life experiences of foreign wives were analyzed within a self development process; Choice and struggle, Change and opportunity, and Settlement and expectation. The theme of choice and struggle includes physical and emotional stress in the initial stage of marriage. The second process of change and opportunity focused on the coping strategies of the women having power after knowledge acquisition from the multicultural family support center. The last theme was health and happiness from the women' perspectives. Conclusion: This study has emphasized the health condition of the foreign wives. Since foreign wives are members of Korean society, health care professionals need to design health services to meet their needs.
Background: A group health service is a system that delegates workplace health management to an entrusted institution. There have been various studies on group health services to date, but recent changes, such as an increase in foreign workers, are rapidly changing industry characteristics. Methods: Satisfaction was assessed using a 27-question survey distributed among 203 workplaces employing health professionals. The survey items consisted of general characteristics, comprehensive satisfaction, requirements for health professionals' work, and satisfaction with work environment management, ergonomic management, and healthcare management. Multiple regression and frequency analyses were performed. Results: The comprehensive satisfaction was 4.08 points on average, out of 5. The comprehensive satisfaction of health professionals in the industry was positively correlated with each factor. Hazardous materials and chemical management (material safety data sheets, MSDSs) were the most common requirements. Conclusion: A low level of satisfaction with work environment management indicates high demand for healthcare management. The working environment should be improved by identifying characteristics of the workplace, examining harmful substances, inspecting equipment, and enhancing worker methods. The shorter the work experience of health professionals, the more dependent they are on group health services. The variables affecting comprehensive satisfaction were the period of work, healthcare management satisfaction, and work environment management satisfaction. Most of the requirements of health professionals in the workplace were practical improvement case presentations, MSDSs, and legal document management.
The purpose of this study was to determine the possibilities of Korean fermented sauces including red pepper paste, soybean paste, soy sauce, and vinegar as ingredients for Western cuisine. Western cuisine professionals from US and Europe were interviewed for their experienced opinions. To classify the categories, the selected statements were given to other groups of foreign chefs, Korean cuisine professionals and students majoring culinary arts. The first category pointed out that Korean fermented sauces are healthy with 'umami' taste using only natural ingredients. They believe it has high possibilities of matching with many of other foods and also has unique tastes. Korean cuisine professionals were mostly occupied in this category. The second category had negative opinions matching with Western cuisines since Korean fermented sauces are rough and have a strong taste & smell. This category had many Western cuisine professionals. The last category was composed of mainly students majoring in culinary arts. They pointed out that Korean fermented sauces use natural ingredients and have a unique flavor with long-term shelf life. Use of Q methodology was significantly different from previous studies researched by quantitative methods especially for the Korea food service industry.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the information needs and information seeking behavior of foreign students. A survey method was used for the undertaken study. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire, self-administered to 120 foreign students (60 males & 60 females) with 88 (47 males & 41 females) returns. The research is limited to post-graduate, M.Phil. and Ph.D. foreign students in University of Delhi. It was found that post-graduate students need information regarding their program of study while research scholars need information for writing research articles and for doing their research work. Most of them seek information through the internet. Research scholars used electronic resources such as databases, e-journals and e-theses and dissertations. 88.6% of the respondents also use books for seeking information. Their use of the library is limited with complaints about library staff and too few computer terminals. The present study will be helpful in designing new systems and services for the foreign students so that their information needs can be fulfilled easily. Further, findings of the study indicate that how the library professionals should assist foreign students to accomplish their information needs.

An anthological analysis of known literature and historical sources is carried out in the work. It was found that the development of foreign language training of future professionals was influenced by a number of factors: socio-economic (focus on the needs of the labor market, integration into the international space, scientific and technological progress); educational (updating legal documents in the field of education, standardization of educational content, development of methods of professional development of a specialist). The historical period is analyzed and the following stages are determined: ideological (realization of ideological imperative in language and professional training of future specialists; educational-methodical (preparation according to unified curricula, reading and translation as a leading type of speech activity); integration (integration of foreign language teaching and multicultural education)), methodological (use of traditional verbal methods, standardized textbooks). Thus, the research conducted in the article indicates the periods (stages) of formation, functioning and development of foreign language education.

As urbanization becomes widely spread, environmental benefits of natural landscapes have been highly appreciated. The social demands to conserve such landscapes are becoming stronger in modem society. In order to effectively manage natural landscapes, one should know what natural landscapes are. The characteristics of natural landscapes revealed by foreign research include wilderness, absence of human intrusion, and presence of diverse natural element (plants, trees, waters). The purpose of this paper is to investigate the characteristics of diverse natural landscapes with different levels of naturalness. The methods adopted here consist of three phases. First, 368 landscapes were photographed to include different levels of naturalness. Second, two professional landscape groups assessed the degree of naturalness of the collected landscapes, in which the characteristics of five degrees of naturalness were examined. Lastly, undergraduate students, as laypersons, assessed the 33 landscapes that were selected as representative of the five degrees of naturalness. The results show that there is no difference between professionals and laypersons on the assessment of naturalness of landscape. The characteristics of natural landscape that participants perceive include no human intrusion, preservation of original state, traditional quality such as Korean-style architecture, dominance of natural elements, and minimum facilities that harmonize with natural surroundings, Many characteristics are similar to the results of foreign research, However, the results reveal that Koreans do not perceive man-made nature as natural, while they perceive traditional elements as natural. Based on the results, some suggestions for landscape management are presented in the conclusion section.
This paper attempts to develop STP Strategy of EXPO 2012 Yeosu for attracting tourists. STP in marketing strategy refers to the process of market segmentation, market targeting, and positioning. I tested four demographic variables(age, occupation, nationality, and sex) to segment the market or the visitors of EXPO 2012 Yeosu effectively. The statistical result shows that age, occupation, and nationality are significant. Based on the three demographic factors and the visitor's purpose, I classified the expected visitors of EXPO into 12 groups, and selected 6 targeted groups: a group of Korean students with the purpose of study, a group of Korean professionals with the purpose of business, a group of foreign students with the purpose of study, a group of foreign professionals with the purpose of business, a group of Korean people in general with the purpose of tourism, and a group of foreign people in general with the purpose of tourism. In this paper, I have suggested a differentiated marketing mix for six targeted groups each.
