  • A vibration excitation system was designed and built of forced vibration experiments for using stepping motor and load cell. The identified flutter derivatives of the thin-plate acrylic model were very close to the analytical results of the idealized plate presented by Theodorsen. Five types of sectional models were tested in the wind tunnel using the proposed forced vibration method. To investigate the frequency, amplitude and angle of attack effects on flutter derivatives.

  • In this paper, the double displacement coupled statics and dynamics of the electromechanical integrated electrostatic harmonic drive are developed. The linearization of the nonlinear dynamic equations is completed. Based on natural frequency and mode function, the double displacement coupled forced response of the drive system to voltage excitation are obtained. Changes of the forced response along with the system parameters are investigated. The voltage excitation can cause the radial and tangent coupled forced responses of the flexible ring. The flexible ring radius, ring thickness and clearance between the ring and stator have obvious influences on the double displacement coupled forced responses.

  • Recently, a new method for reconstructing a forced nonlinear dynamic system has been proposed; specifically, the simultaneous reconstruction of its excitation as well as restoring characteristics of the system. The reconstruction was just theoretically shown to be possible by measuring the system's responses, based on newly introduced notions, a J-function and a zero-crossing time. However, numerically in the current paper, we are to reconstruct a linear system, i.e., we focus on numerical experiments to reconstruct both the excitation and the linear restoring characteristic of a linear forced oscillating system by using response data, based on the J-function and the zero-crossing time.

  • This study presents the vibration excitation system to extract the aerodynamic stability derivatives which is generally called as flutter derivatives in civil engineering. The system consists of the excitation part to give a forced harmonic motion to the model and the sensing part to measure the aerodynamic forces as well as inertia forces acting on a bridge model. A data processing algorithm for extracting the flutter derivatives from the measured forces is also presented. From the wind tunnel tests, verification of present system was done by comparing the measured and analytical results for rectangular shaped model. The effects of excitation frequencies and amplitudes on flutter derivatives are discussed. Five kinds of actual bridge model were presented from the wind tunnel.

  • The characteristics of forced vibration by an external excitation force having a frequency were analyzed according to the amplitude and frequency of the excitation force. To obtain displacement, velocity, and acceleration, numerical analysis was performed to obtain the frequency response, and in particular, each FRF(Frequency Response Function) was analyzed to reveal the location of the system natural frequency and excitation frequency in the frequency domain. In the vibration model caused by external excitation, the natural frequency and distribution of the surrounding excitation mode in displacement, velocity and acceleration FRF. The FRF was also shown in the power spectrum and FRF of real and imaginary parts. The external excitation force was approximated with the excitation force of a sine wave by giving the amplitude and frequency, the mode generated by this excitation force could be distinguished. After numerical analysis by changing the equivalent mass, damping and stiffness, the forced vibration response characteristics by external excitation force were systematically analyzed.

  • Dynamics of the electric system for the toroidal drive under mechanical disturbance is presented. Using the method of perturbation, free vibrations of the electric system under mechanical disturbance are studied. The forced responses of the electric system to voltage excitation under mechanical disturbance are also presented. We show that as the time grows, the resonance vibration caused by voltage excitation still exists and the vibrations caused by mechanical disturbance are enlarged. The coupled resonance vibration caused by mechanical disturbance and voltage excitation is discussed. The conditions of the occurrence of coupled resonance are studied.

  • A method of damage detection based on the moving harmonic excitation and continuous wavelet transforms is presented. The applied excitation is used as a moving actuator and its frequency and speed parameters can be adjusted for an amplified response. The continuous wavelet transforms, CWT, is used for cracks detection based on the resulting amplified signal. It is demonstrated that this identification procedure is largely better than the classical ones based on eigenfrequencies or on the eigenmodes wavelet transformed. For vibration responses, free and forced vibration analyses of multi-cracked beams are investigated based on both analytical and numerical methodological approaches. Cracks are modeled through rotational springs whose compliances are evaluated using linear elastic fracture mechanics. Based on the obtained forced responses, multi-cracks positions are accurately identified and the CWT identification can be highly improved by adjusting the frequency and the speed excitation parameters.

  • In this paper, the equivalent exciting force caused by electric excitation is derived. By dividing load and displacement vectors into mean values and time-varying ones, the dynamic equations of the system are transformed into linear ones for time-varying portion of the displacements. The analytical equations of the forced time responses of the drive system to electric excitations are obtained. Using the Laplace transformation, the transfer function of the drive system is obtained. These equations are used to analyze the time and frequency responses of the drive system to the electric excitation. It is known that electric excitation can cause forced responses of the drive system, the total dynamic responses are decided by three phase exciting voltages, exciting frequency and natural frequencies of the drive system, and the drive parameters have obvious influence on the time and frequency responses.

  • With the results of calculation for natural frequencies the reponses of forced coupled vibration of propulsion shafting system were investigated by the modal analysis method. For the forced vibration response analysis, the axial exciting forces, the axial damper/detuner, propeller exciting forces and damping coefficients were extensively considered. As the conclusion of this study, some items are cleared as follows.-The torsional vibration amplitudes are not influenced by the radial excitation forces of the crank shaft. -The axial vibration amplitudes are influenced by the tangential exciting forces as well as the radial exciting forces of the crank shaft. The increase of the amplitudes is observed in the speed range at the neighbourhood of any torsional critical speed. 1The closer the torsional and axial critical speed. the larger coupling effect becomes. -The axial exciting force of propeller is relatively strong comparing with axial exciting forces of cylinder gas pressure and oscillating inertia of reciprocating mechanism. Therefore, the following conclusions are obtained. -Torsional vibration calculation with the classical one dimensional model is still valid. -The influence of torsional excitation at each crank upon the axial vibration is improtant. especially in the neighbourhood of a torsional critical speed. That means that the calculation of axial vibration with the classical one dimensional model is inaccurate in most of cases.

For the forced response analysis, axial exciting forces, axial damper/detuner, propeller exciting forces and damping coefficients were extensively investigated. As the conclusion of this study, some items are cleared as next. - The torsional amplitudes are not influenced by the radial excitation forces. - The axial vibrational amplitudes are influenced by the tangential exciting forces. An increase of amplitude is observed for the speed range in the neighbourhood of any torsional critical speed. - The coupling effect becomes larger if torsional and axial critical speed are closer together. - The axial exciting force of propeller is relatively strong, comparing with those of axial forces of cylinder gas pressure and oscillating inertia of reciprocating mechanism. Therefore, as a resume one can say, that- Torsional vibration calculation with the classical one dimension model is still valid. - The influence of torsional excitation at each crank upon the axial vibration is impotent, especially in the neighbourhood of a torsional critical speed. That means that the calculation of axial vibration with the classical one dimension model is insufficient in most of cases. - The torsional exciting torque of propeller can be neglected in most of cases. But, the axial exciting forces of propeller can not be neglected for calculating axial vibration of propulsion shafting.
