A Study on the Sliding Distance and the Proper Position of Supporter with respect to the Wedge Angle in the Wedge Type Rail Clamp

  • The rail clamp is the device to prevent the crane slips along rails from the wind blast as well as to locate a container crane in the set position in operating mode. In this study we conduct the research for the sliding distance of rail clamp and the proper position of supporter with respect to the wedge angle in the wedge type rail clamp. The sliding distance to display the clamping force of the jaw pad corresponding to the design wind speed criteria is determined by the total displacement of the rail clamp at the roller center and the wedge angle. And the supporter is the device to prevent the overload which is applied on each part of the rail clamp by wind speed increment, because a clamping force is generated by the sliding of the wedge due to the wind. Accordingly the position of the supporter to prevent the overload is determined by analyzing the forces applied to the rail clamp. In order to analyze the sliding distance and the proper position of supporter with respect to the wedge angle as the wind speed is 40m/s, 5-kinds of wedge angles, such as 2, 4, 6, 8, $10^{\circ}$, were adopted as the design parameter.

  • In this paper, the virtual reality system is tried to developed, which controls not only the sense of sight and hearing but also the sense of touch, In order to develope the sense of touch in this study, the stable tactual transaction system, based on summing up the basic algorithm and theory is embodied. Especially, the graphic deformation algorithm is developed in realtime with using the deformed FEM. To apply the FEM, a deformed material model is produced and then the graphic deformation with this model is able to force. Finally, the graphic transaction algorithm is deduced by the realtime calculation and simplification because the purpose of this system is to transact in real time. The result of this study is that the proposed system is possible to deform the graphics and transact the haptic in real time in PC. The simulation program has been made to prove this result.

Seismic responses of hyperbolic cooling towers under horizontal and vertical earthquake

  • Following the dynamic property analysis and elaboration, linear response spectrum analysis (RSA) and response history analysis (RHA) were conducted on a representative hyperbolic cooling towers (HCT) in present study. The seismic responses in tower shell were illustrated in detail, including the internal force amplitude, modal contribution, influence from damping ratio, comparison of results got from RSA and RHA and especially the latitude distributions of internal forces. The results show that the eigenmodes could be classified in a new method into four types according to their mode shapes and only the lateral bending modes and vertical stretching modes are meaningful for horizontal and vertical earthquake correspondingly. The bending modes and seismic deformation display the same feature which is global lateral bending accompanied by minute circular flow displacement of section. This feature also decides the latitude distributions of internal forces as sine or cosine. Moreover, the following method is also proposed for approximate estimation of internal force amplitudes without time-consuming response history analysis: getting the response spectrums of the selected ground accelerations and then comparing values of response spectrums at the natural period of first lateral bending mode because it is always prime dominant for horizontal seismic responses.

  • In the semiconductor and display component industries, the use of ceramic materials, which are high-strength materials, is increasing for ensuring durability and wear resistance. Among them, alumina materials are used increasingly. Alumina materials are extremely difficult to process because of their high strength; as such, research and development in the area of mineral material processing is being promoted actively to improve their processing. In this study, the processability of an electrodeposition tool is investigated using the electrodeposition method to smoothly process alumina materials. Furthermore, processing is conducted under various processing conditions, such as spindle speed, feed speed, and depth of cut. In addition, the processing characteristics of the workpiece are analyzed based on the tooling.

자장 세기 측정용 진공 센서의 제작 및 패키징 (Fabrication and packaging of the vacuum magnetic field sensor)

  • 본 연구에서는 수평형 전계 방출 소자를 제작하고 그 특성을 측정하였다. 이를 진공자장 센서에 이용하기 위하여 Lorentz 원리를 응용하여 센서를 설계하고 제작하였다. $POCl_3(10^{20}cm^{-3})$ 도핑된 다결정 실리콘을 전계 방출 소자의 음극 및 양극 재료로 이용하였으며 그 두께는 각각 $2\;{\mu}m$였다. PSG(두께 $2\;{\mu}m$)를 희생층으로 사용하여 최종 단계에서 불산을 이용하여 제거하고 승화건조법을 이용하여 소자의 기판 점착 현상을 방지하였다. 제작된 소자를 유리기판 #1 위에 silver paste로 고정시키고 Cr 전극 패드와 와이어본딩 한 뒤 진공내에서 양극접합공정을 이용하여 소자를 $1.0{\times}10^{-6}\;Torr$에서 진공 실장하였다. 실장 후 게터를 활성화하여 내부진공도를 향상시켰다. 이렇게 패키징된 소자는 두달여 기간 동안 특별한 특성저하 없이 잘 동작되었으며 그 이상의 기간에 대해서는 확인하지 못하였다. 패키징된 자장 센서는 패키징하기 전 진공챔버 내에서 보인 특성치와 별다른 차이 없이 잘 동작되었으며 단지 약간의 전류 감소 현상만이 관찰되었다. 측정된 센서의 감도는 약 3%/T로서 작은 값이었으나 그 가능성을 확인할 수는 있었다.

임프린팅을 이용한 BiLaO 패터닝과 액정 디스플레이 소자의 응용 (Patterning of BiLaO film using imprinting process for liquid crystal display)

  • 정렬 패턴을 전사공정을 이용하여 BiLaO 박막 위에 패터닝하고 소성온도에 따른 액정 배향 특성에 대하여 연구 하였다. 졸겔 공정을 제작한 BiLaO 은 유리 기판 위에 스핀코팅으로 증착한 후 미리 제작된 정렬패턴을 전사하여 100, 150, 200, 250 ℃ 의 온도에서 소성하였다. POM분석으로부터 200℃ 이하의 소성온도에서 액정배향은 균일하지 않았고, 250 ℃의 소성온도에서 균일한 액정 배향 특성을 확인 할 수 있었고, 결정 회절 법 분석으로 부터도 확인 가능하였다. 전사 공정 시 250 ℃의 온도에서 패턴이 전사되었음을 Atomic force microscopy 을 통하여 확인 할 수 있었다. 250 ℃의 온도에서 전사된 정렬 패턴에 의하여 박막의 이방성을 획득 하였고 이방성 박막 위에서 액정 분자들이 고르게 배향 될 수 있었다. 따라서 BiLaO 산화막의 전사에 의한 액정 배향 공정은 소성온도에 영향을 받는다는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

Evaluation of citrus fiber as a natural alternative to sodium tripolyphosphate in marinated boneless broiler chicken breast and inside beef skirt (transversus abdominis)

  • Objective: This research was conducted to evaluate the effects of citrus fiber (CF) as a natural alternative to sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) in marinated broiler boneless chicken breast and inside beef skirt on overall retention rate, shear force, and consumer sensory attributes. Methods: Five different marinade formulations were targeted to include 0.9% salt, either 0.25% or 0.50% STPP or CF and water on a finished product basis. Water and salt only were considered the negative control (CON). Chicken breasts (n = 14) and inside beef skirt (n = 14) were randomly assigned to a treatment, raw weights recorded and then placed in a vacuum tumbler. Marinated weights were recorded, individually packed, and randomly assigned to either retail display for 10-day retention rate, shear force analysis, cook loss, or consumer sensory panel. Results: Pickup percentage, and overall retention was similar among treatments for chicken breast and inside beef skirt. Citrus fiber treatments resulted in higher cooking loss compared to the CON in chicken breast; though, CF050 resulted in similar cooking loss compared to STPP025 in inside beef skirt. No differences were found in sensory attributes for chicken breast, however, WBSF data showed CF025 was tougher than CF050, STPP050, and CON. Inside beef skirt with CF050 were least liked overall by the consumer panel. Conclusion: Citrus fiber included in marinades at a lower percentage rate can produce similar texture characteristics, and sensory properties compared with those marinated with STPP.

Development of a Numerical Methodology for Analysis and Design of Weldments

  • There are many analysis formulas for determining the resultant shear force in welds. However, there is no general procedure which is applicable to a joint with all six possible loadings exerted simultaneously. A numerical methodology and computer program for such a problem were developed, and they are capable of analyzing a weld of any shape composed of straight or circular line segments. The computer program developed in this study can also display the design procedures and results using computer graphics. The development of such a design procedure and an interactive computer program for weldments analysis will lead to lower cost.

  • The technology of AC solenoid valves is now considered as a core technology in the fields of the production line of semi-conductor chips and the micro fluid chips for medical applications. And AC solenoid valves, which operate by compressed air, are characterized by high speed response, great repeatability and that the pressure on the cross sectional area of poppet is kept constant regardless of the fluctuation of the pressure exerted on the ports. In this study, AC solenoid valves that posses the high-speed responsibility and the high rate of flow have designed and analyzed through the law of equivalent magnetic circuit and Finite Element Method (FEM) respectively. In case of poppet, Flow field characteristic was analyzed by the variation of poppet and it was able to display flow field by changing the location of the poppet. Also, we verified possibility of the design through the static and dynamic pressure and the 3D distribution curve of the force by working the front poppet.

풀러린을 이용한 전자종이용 소자 최적구조 연구

  • This work was focused on the dielectrophoretic force of fullerenes dispersed in liquid crystal host medium, which are investigated in the homogeneously aligned liquid crystal (NLC) cells driven by external electric field. A fullerene of 10 wt% was doped into the LC medium and its electric field induced motion was controlled by both in-plane and vertical electric field. When the electric field was applied, the fullerene start to move in direction of applied electric field. The dark, grey and white states in the proposed device can be obtained by suitable combination of the polarity of applied electric field. The w and l are the width and distance between the electrodes. The reflectance at different l was measured and was found to be increased with increasing l. The dynamical motions of fullerene particles in LC medium suggest that fullerene can be designed for electronic-paper like displays.
