Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the non-contact power transmission method of magnetic gears. Since there is no mechanical contact, noise caused by friction can be reduced, and even if a sudden large force is applied, the impact of the gear is close to zero. Further, since the power is transmitted by the magnetic flux, it has high reliability. However, there is a problem that a loss due to a magnetic field due to use of a magnetic flux. The loss caused by the magnetic field of the magnetic gear is a joule loss called eddy current loss. In addition, the eddy current loss in the magnetic gear largely occurs in the permanent magnet, but it is a fatal loss to the permanent magnet which is vulnerable to heat. Particularly, magnetic gears requiring high torque density use NdFeB series permanent magnets, and this permanent magnets have a characteristic in which the magnetic force decreases as temperature increases. Therefore, in this paper, the eddy current loss of the permanent magnet according to the permanent magnet attaching method is analyzed in order to reduce the eddy current loss of the permanent magnet. We have proposed a structure that can reduce the eddy current loss through the analysis and show the effect of reducing the loss of the proposed structure.

In this paper, a novel radial beam coupling model was proposed and the design parameters were studied for the efficient transmission of torque. To develop a high performance radial beam coupling, an analytical way to predict the performance in design phase is required. One of the best ways to estimate the performance of the coupling without manufacturing is to evaluate the stress and torsional stiffness by building a finite element model with a special attention to the radial beam cutting part. For the best results of FEA, the material properties were obtained through testing. To verify the reliability of finite element model, the results of FEA were compared with the experiments. The main design parameters of radial beam cutting width, radial beam cutting depth, and radial beam cutting direction were considered for the performance of radial beam coupling.

A friction-type reinforcing member(FRM) is proposed for the purpose of upgrading wind resistant performance of a transmission tower and verified through cyclic loading tests. First, suitable install scheme of the FRM is investigated through numerical analysis. Main-post-reinforcing type and X-brace type installation schemes are examined, and numerical analysis shows that the former is more effective due to the vertical cantilever type behavior of the transmission tower. Based on this result, two types of the FRM's, dissipating energy in slotted belted connections, are proposed. The one utilizes the relative displacement between the FRM and the main post, and the other utilizes that between the separated angles consisting of the FRM as a slip deformation of the slotted bolted connection. Proposed FRM's are installed on each main post of the 1/2 scale substructure models of an actual transmission tower body. From cyclic loading tests, the latter type of the proposed FRM's dissipates energy more effectively and its slip load is controlled by applied torque well, and shares considerable amount of the axial force in the main post.

In general, articulated robot control technology is limited to the design of robot arm control systems considering each joint of the robot joint as a simple servomechanism. This method describes the varying dynamics of a manipulator inadequately because it neglects the motion and configuration of the whole arm mechanism. The changes of the parameters in the controlled system are significant enough to render conventional feedback control strategies ineffective. This basic control system enables a manipulator to perform simple positioning tasks such as in the pock and place operation. However, joint controllers are severely limited in precise tracking of fast trajectories and sustaining desirable dynamic performance for variations of payload and parameter uncertainties. In many servo control applications the linear control scheme proposes unsatisfactory, therefore, a need for nonlinear techniques that increasing. for Forging process automation.

With the results of calculation for natural frequencies, the forced reponses of coupled vibration of propulsion shafting were analysed by the modal analysis method. For the forced response analysis, axial exciting forces, axial damper/detuner, propeller exciting forces and damping coefficients were extensively investigated. As the conclusion of this study, some items are cleared as next. - The torsional amplitudes are not influenced by the radial excitation forces. - The axial vibrational amplitudes are influenced by the tangential exciting forces. An increase of amplitude is observed for the speed range in the neighbourhood of any torsional critical speed. - The coupling effect becomes larger if torsional and axial critical speed are closer together. - The axial exciting force of propeller is relatively strong, comparing with those of axial forces of cylinder gas pressure and oscillating inertia of reciprocating mechanism. Therefore, as a resume one can say, that- Torsional vibration calculation with the classical one dimension model is still valid. - The influence of torsional excitation at each crank upon the axial vibration is impotent, especially in the neighbourhood of a torsional critical speed. That means that the calculation of axial vibration with the classical one dimension model is insufficient in most of cases. - The torsional exciting torque of propeller can be neglected in most of cases. But, the axial exciting forces of propeller can not be neglected for calculating axial vibration of propulsion shafting.

A novel 6/5 switched reluctance motor (SRM) with short flux path is presented in this paper. The concept of this proposed motor is a novel SR motor with six stator and five rotor poles. The stator is constructed with three independent and physically separate C-core segments, and the rotor is composed of five poles. This motor, with a new selection for the number of stator/rotor poles, achieves a short flux path, which reduces the magnetomotive force required to drive the motor. To verify the performance of the proposed motor, a comparison with conventional SR motors with the same dimensions is executed. The comparison demonstrates that the proposed motor offers better performance in terms of maximum torque production. Furthermore, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Matlab/Simulink software are used to predict and simulate the performance of the proposed motor.
Periotest(Siemens, Germany) has been used to test mobility of the implants clinically, however the effects of target materials and connection methods on the PTVs(Periotest Values) have not been evaluated. Periotest has been regarded as a reliable and objective tool to test implant and natural teeth mobility clinically, however this instrument showed different PTVs under various test conditions. This in vitro study was designed to compare PTVs of different veneering materials and prosthodontic designs (single and bridge restorations). To compare the effects of veneering materials on PTVs, 1 mm thickness of five different testing materials (porcelain, type III gold alloy, pure titanium, composite resin, acrylic resin) were placed on the resin block. Three full length of 13 mm Mark II implant fixtures were embedded into autopolymerizing resin block to fabricate single and bridge restorations. To evaluate effects of the connection method in single restorations, PTVs of screw retained(UCLA type) and cementation type(Cera-One system) were compared. Finally, to test reliability of PTVs of the final restorations, screw retained three unit short span PFM bridges were fabricated on the standard and Estheti-Cone abutments. All testing components were tightened with torque controller and PTVs of all specimens were measured 15 times for statistical analysis with SAS program. Following conclusions were made within the limit of this in vitro study. 1. PTVs of type III gold alloy, grade II titanium, composite resin veneering materials showed no significant differences, however acrylic resin and porcelain showed significant differences (P<0.05). 2. Single tooth restorations showed consistent PTVs as long as proper torque force was applied. 3. PTVs of bridge type prostheses was inconsistent regardless of abutment types. 4. PTVs of the prostheses showed higher scores and standard deviations than those of abutments regardless types of connection (P<0.05).
The purpose of this study was to investigate the balance differences between skilled players and less-skilled players during Hakdariseogi motion of Keumgang Poomsae in Taekwondo. To achieve the study goal, total of 10 Taekwondo athletes; 5 skilled players(S, body mass: $67.0{\pm}5.7$ kg, height: $174.0{\pm}4.8$ cm, age: $20.0{\pm}2.0$ yrs) and 5 less-skilled players(LS, body mass: $73.0{\pm}4.9$ kg, height: $176.4{\pm}6.1$ cm, age: $20.8{\pm}1.3$ yrs) participated in this study. A three-dimensional motion analysis with 8 infrared cameras and one force plate whose sampling frequency as 30 Hz and 300 Hz, respectively, were performed. Participants' motion were divided into three phases which were preparation phase(P1), performing phase(P2) and maintaining phase(P3). The range and velocities of COP, the range and RMS of ground reaction torque and displacement between COM and center of BOS of each phase were computed. In this study, at P1 and P3 which were double and single stance, respectively, the range and M-L velocities of COP revealed significantly higher in LS compared with those of S(p<.05). At P2 which was single stance, LS indicated significantly higher in range of COP and ground reaction torque, and M-L velocities of COP than those of S(p<.05). The significantly shorter displacement between COM and center of BOS, however, was found in LS compared with that of S(p<.05). The results from our study indicated that S revealed more stable performance and a better posture control ability during performing Hakdariseogi motion.
This study was conducted to investigate the technical factors of Lu Yu Fu vault actually performed by three men gymnasts participated in artistic gymnastics competition of 2003 summer Universiade in Daegu through the DLT method of three dimensional cinematography. To analyze these vaults, the instant events of Lu Yu Fu were set in the board touchdown(BTD), the board takeoff(BTO), the horse touchdown(HTD), the horse takeoff(HTO), the peak height(PH), the mat touchdown(MTD) respectively and the phases of that vault were set in the board contact(BC), the preflight(PRF), the horse contact(HC), the postflight(POF), the grounding on mat(GM) respectively After calculating the performance times, the CG displacement velocity, the kinetic energy impulse reaction force moment arm torque at the horse, the released angle piked angle addressed angle, the angular momentum angular velocity of whole body in x axis, and the horizontal displacement between the feet and CG, the following conclusions were reached. To perform the better Lu Yu Fu vault, a gymnast must have the large horizontal velocity of whole body with fast run-up, decrease the duration time and the horizontal vertical displacement of whole body in PRF, have the enough time to judge the correct magnitude and direction of force to brake or push the horse so as to lengthen the HC duration time at any cost. Also it is desirable to increase the horizontal vertical displacement of whole body in POF if possible, maintain the adequate piked position to decrease the angular velocity of whole body in x axis, prepare the grounding on mat previously and delay the release of the hand from the body to keep the angular momentum.
This study was conducted to investigate the technical factors of Cuervo forward straight vaults with single twist, single and half twists, and double twists actually performed by three execellent male gymnasts participated in artistic gymnastics competition of 2003 summer Universiade in Daegu and the 85th National Sports Festival in Cheongju. To accomplish the research goals the Cuervo vaults of three gymnasts were filmed by using three digital camcorders set by 60 Hz, and data were collected through the DLT method of three dimensional cinematography. The kinematic and kinetic variables as each phasic time, CM displacement velocity, release angle inclination angle hip joint angle landing angle, average horse reaction force average moment arm average torque, whoe body's total remote local angular momentum were analyzed, so the following conclusions were reached. Generally to perform the better Cuervo vault, a gymnast should touch down on the board with the great horizontal velocity of the whole body through the fast run-up, and touch down on the horse by decreasing the horizontal displacement of the whole body during the preflight, so raise CM height gradually within a short horse contact time. He should increase the horse reaction force through checking the horizontal velocity of the whole body effectively and the inclination angular displacement of the handstand, if so he can have the large vertical velocity of the whole body. By using the acquired the velocity and the angular momentum of the whole body, he can vault himself higher and twist sufficiently, then he can get better if the body could be tilted by swinging both arms and perform the cat twist with a little flexions at hip joints. According to the above outcomes we can judge that the best athletes is LuBin, the better is YTY, and the next is JSM.
