First Record of One Sessile Ctenophora, Lyrocteis imperatoris, and Its Embryos from Korea

  • The sessile ctenophores, Lyrocteis imperatoris Komai, 1941 were collected for the first time from Garinyeo, offshore Seogwipo of Jejudo Island by SCUBA diving on June 18, 2009. This species distributed in West North Pacific was newly recorded in Korean waters. Its embryos in various developmental stages were observed in the internal brood chamber.

A Newly Recorded Sea Star of the Genus Marginaster (Asteroidea: Valvatida: Poraniidae) from the Korea Strait, Korea

  • A sea star was collected from the Korea Strait in the waters adjacent to eastern Jeju Island, Korea ($33^{\circ}39^{\prime}86^{{\prime}{\prime}}N$, $127^{\circ}33^{\prime}12^{{\prime}{\prime}}E$) at a depth of 92 m on November 5, 2016. This specimen was identified as Marginaster paucispinus Fisher, 1913, from the family Poraniidae of the order Valvatida, based on morphological characteristics. The genus Marginaster Perrier, 1881 and M. paucispinus, which were first reported in the South China Sea, are new to the Korean fauna. Partial sequences of mitochondrial COI and 16S ribosomal RNA of M. paucispinus were have been determined for the first time and were deposited in GenBank. They are the first molecular records for the genus Marginaster.

  • The occurrence of Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome was noted for the first time among the United Nations troops in Korea in 1951. In 1976, Lee and Lee demonstrated for the first time an antigen in the lungs of a striped field mouse, Apodemus agrarius, which gave specific immunofluorescent reactions with sera from patients convalescent from Korean hemorrhagic feve (KHF). The natural reservoir host of KHF is Apodemus agrarius coreae mice in rural endemic areas in Korea. Clinical manifestations of acute illness do not occur in infected Apodemus agrarius. Infected rodents excrete large amounts of virus in saliva, in urine and in feces for a long period of time. In this study, the tissues of Apodemus agrarius, Wistar rat and Balb/C mouse were inoculated with Hantaan virus and subsequently observed for any histopathologic findings. 1. In lungs, infiltration of lymphocytes in alveolar septa and peribronchial region and thickening of and giant cell formation in alveolar septa were observed. 2. In kidney, vascular congestion, interstitial hemorrhage in corticomedullary junction and partial microscopic hemorrhage in urinary space were found. 3. In spleens, vascular congestion, old and recent hemorrhage and multinucleated giant cell formation were seen.

Level control of single water tank systems using Fuzzy-PID technique

  • In this study, for the control of a single water tank system, a fuzzy-PID controller design technique based on a fuzzy model is investigated. For this purpose, a water tank system is linearized as a number of submodels depending on the operating point, and a fuzzy model is obtained by fuzzy combining. Each submodel is approximated as a first order time delay model, and a PID controller is designed using several existing tuning techniques. Then, through the fuzzy combination of this controller using the same method as that of the fuzzy model, a fuzzy-PID controller is designed. For the proposed technique, a simulation is performed using the fuzzy model of a water tank system, and the validity is examined by comparing its performance with that of a PID controller.

Five New Records of the Subfamily Campopleginae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) from South Korea

  • The subfamily Campopleginae $F{\ddot{o}rster$ is the third largest group of Ichneumonidae, comprising more than 2,130 species worldwide. At present 55 species within 13 genera have been reported from South Korea so far. Five species, Campoplex tosensis (Uchida, 1932), Diadegma majale (Gravenhorst, 1829), Dusona myrtilla (Desvignes, 1856), Hyposoter didymator (Thunberg, 1822), and Scirtetes robustus (Woldstedt, 1877), of the subfamily Campopleginae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) are recognized for the first time from South Korea. In addition, the genus Scirtetes is reported for the first time from South Korea. Diagnostic illustrations and diagnoses of the five newly recorded species are provided.

청소년의 시간사용 및 시간부족감의 변화: 2004년과 2014년의 차이를 중심으로 (Changes in Adolescents' Time Use and Time Famine: Focusing on the Differences between 2004 and 2014)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the changes in adolescents' time use and time famine between 2004~2014. The data sources were the Time Use Surveys, which were conducted by the Korea National Statistical Office in 2004 and 2014. A total of 15,386 time diaries (9,008 from 2004, 6,378 from 2014) from adolescents aged between 10 and 18 were analyzed. Descriptive statistics, chi-square, t-test were used for the statistical analyses. The main findings were as follows: First, the necessary time of adolescents was more in 2014 compared to 2004. In particular, adolescents' sleeping time increased on Saturdays. Second, on weekdays and Saturdays, the school hours of adolescents was less in 2014 compared to 2004. But extra school hours of adolescents were more on Saturdays. Third, adolescents had more leisure time on Saturdays but less leisure time on Sundays in 2014 than 2004. Fourth, the average time famine score was lower in 2014 compared to 2004. Even so, the score for high school students was higher than 3 in 4 point Likert scale. This study provides a data-base on the well-being of adolescents and the education policies that affect them.

GSCM전략과 사업성과에 관한 연구 -두리비전 사례를 중심으로- (A Study on the GSCM Strategy and Business Performance - Focus on DOOLEE VISION Case -)

  • This paper examines the global supply chain management strategy and business performance of Doolee Vision Co. Ltd.. Based on the analysis of eighty-seven cases, the following results were found. First, it was found that just-in-time of GSCM strategy of firm have a positive influences on the business performance in transformation sector. Second, just-in-time of GSCM strategy of firm have a positive influences on the business performance in custody sector. Third, just-in-time of GSCM strategy of firm have a positive influences on the business performance in order response and support sector. Forth, just-in-time of GSCM strategy of firm have a positive influences on the business performance in customs sector. Fifth, just-in-time of GSCM strategy of firm have a positive influences on the business performance in customer service sector. However, several limitations, such as measurement for intra-industry homogeneity, measurement for flexibility of global supply chain management strategy, and measurement for business performance of global supply chain management, that make the preceding conclusions be considered preliminary.

A Redescription of Sciasmomyia supraorientalis (Insecta: Diptera: Lauxaniidae), the First Recorded Genus and Species in Korea

  • The genus Sciasmomyia (Diptera: Lauxaniidae) was discovered for the first time in Korea. This Old World (PA and OR) genus currently includes two nominal species. In the process of revising Korean Lauxaniidae, we were able to collect Korean representatives of Sciasmomyia supraorientalis, and provide the redescriptions and illustrations of both sexes.

First Report of Rhizopus oryzae as a Postharvest Pathogen of Apple in Korea

  • Soft rot in apple caused by Rhizopus oryzae was found for the first time in Korea. A detailed description of the specimen is given along with its internal transcribed spacer rDNA sequence. The fungus was identified as Rhizopus oryzae based on the mycological characteristics, molecular data, and pathogenicity testing.
