Study Design: Level III retrospective cross-sectional study. Purpose: To define and characterize the presentation, symptom duration, and patient/surgical risk factors associated with 'post-decompressive neuropathy (PDN).' Overview of Literature: PDN is characterized by lower extremity radicular pain that is 'different' from pre-surgical radiculopathy or claudication pain. Although it is a common constellation of postoperative symptoms, PDN is incompletely characterized and poorly understood. We hypothesize that PDN is caused by an intraoperative neuropraxic event and may develop early (within 30 days following the procedure) or late (after 30 days following the procedure) within the postoperative period. Methods: Patients who consented to undergo lumbar laminectomy with or without an instrumented fusion for degenerative lumbar spine disease were followed up prospectively from July 2013 to December 2014. Relevant data were extracted from the charts of the eligible patients. Patient demographics and surgical factors were identified. Patients completed postoperative questionnaires 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year postoperatively. Questions were designed to characterize the postoperative pain that differed from preoperative pain. A diagnosis of PDN was established if the patient exhibited the following characteristics: pain different from preoperative pain, leg pain worse than back pain, a non-dermatomal pain pattern, and nocturnal pain that often disrupted sleep. A Visual Analog Scale was used to monitor the pain, and patients documented the effectiveness of the prescribed pain management modalities. Patients for whom more than one follow-up survey was missed were excluded from analysis. Results: Of the 164 eligible patients, 118 (72.0%) completed at least one follow-up survey at each time interval. Of these eligible patients, 91 (77.1%) described symptoms consistent with PDN. Additionally, 75 patients (82.4%) described early-onset symptoms, whereas 16 reported symptoms consistent with late-onset PDN. Significantly more female patients reported PDN symptoms (87% vs. 69%, p=0.03). Patients with both early and late development of PDN described their leg pain as an intermittent, constant, burning, sharp/stabbing, or dull ache. Early PDN was categorized more commonly as a dull ache than late-onset PDN (60% vs. 31%, p=0.052); however, the difference did not reach statistical significance. Opioids were significantly more effective for patients with early-onset PDN than for those with late-onset PDN (85% vs. 44%, p=0.001). Gabapentin was most commonly prescribed to patients who cited no resolution of symptoms (70% vs. 31%, p=0.003). Time to symptom resolution ranged from within 1 month to 1 year. Patients' symptoms were considered unresolved if symptoms persisted for more than 1 year postoperatively. In total, 81% of the patients with early-onset PDN reported complete symptom resolution 1 year postoperatively compared with 63% of patients with late-onset PDN (p=0.11). Conclusions: PDN is a discrete postoperative pain phenomenon that occurred in 77% of the patients who underwent lumbar laminectomy with or without instrumented fusion. Attention must be paid to the constellation and natural history of symptoms unique to PDN to effectively manage a self-limiting postoperative issue.
The Korean Society for Engineering Education (KSEE) has been conducted scholarship meeting, workshop, and publicated academic journal, Engineering Education Research, since 1998. Kim Jin-soo analysed 'Engineering Education Research' on methods of research and contents. However, there are an in crease in quantity since then, it needed to analyse and arrange. This study analysed all 417 papers which were published from 1998 to 2012. The conclusion is as in the following. First, the number of collections published has been increasing up to 6 per year. 75.5% of the lead author's institution are universities, and Engineering Education Innovation Center researcher has been increasing steadily up to 8.9%. Research about Engineering Education Methods and Programs are being mostly studied. Apart from classified field in this, a study on the psychological characteristics of technology students are being steadily researched. In papers, the literature/development research method is used the most frequently (54.6%), the research study (39.9%) is the next and the experimental research method (5.5%) is followed by. Since 2006, study using the experimental research method is the growing lately. Second, characteristic of study between institution of lead author, a field of study, a number of study and methods of research by cross analyzing. The result is as in the following. In case of university and Engineering Education Innovation Center researcher studied much more about Engineering Education Methods and programs, research laboratory researcher tend to study about Engineering Educational Philosophy and Policy. Also, foreign researcher tend to introduce Engineering Education Example and Lecture. In case of university and foreign researcher used the literature/development research method frequently. Engineering Education Innovation Center and research laboratory and school researcher used the research study much more. There is no difference between a field of study and research methods. Finally, research strategies and new direction for improving the engineering education journal's papers at the section of discussion and suggestion were suggested.
The up-to-date business environment for Korean manufacturers is very complex and rapidly changing. Especially, the companies have faced with various changes derived from small quantity batch production, diversification of customer demands, and short life cycles of products. Consequently, the Korean manufacturing companies are in need of more efficient production planning and scheduling techniques. In this paper, the research trend of scheduling techniques is investigated to provide relevant information to researchers in this field. Furthermore, some implications for future researches are presented regarding literatures published in Korea over the last 10 years. This paper presents an entire investigation into Korean research works on scheduling (2,569 papers) that are published from 2007 to 2016. Especially, detailed analysis was carried out in the following three industry : 1) semiconductor, 2) shipbuilding and 3) automobile. In this paper, approaches to scheduling presented in the literature are categorized into the following three categories : 1) application, 2) algorithm, and 3) simulation modeling. First, in the semiconductor industry, scheduling techniques related to semiconductor cleaning processes, photolithography processes, chemical processes, transport and transport equipment have been found to be dominant. Second, the shipbuilding industry is focused on assembly processes, transporter, crane and various existing production management system. On the other hand, the scheduling research of the automobile industry is mainly focused on the vehicle movement routing and procurement supply-chain planning algorithm in terms of logistics. The conclusion of this study are expected to provide many implications for various types of academic and practical follow-up studies related to scheduling in consideration of main characteristics of semiconductor, shipbuilding and automobile industries.
The objectives of this study were to identify factors associated with unexpected revisit to an emergency medical center (EMC) located in Seoul and to examine reasons for revisit. During March, June, September and December, 2002, a total of 168 patients had unexpected revisits to the EMC within 48 hours of a previous discharge. As a 1:1 matched control, we included 136 patients who: discharged from the EMC during the same time period: did not return to the EMC; had the same diagnosis and age(${\pm}5$) with the case. In this study, factors associated with unexpected revisits were defined as characteristics of a previous discharge, which were classified into three: sociodemographic, EMC visit-related, and discharge management factors. Reasons for revisit were categorized into disease, physician, patients, and system-related factors. Data were collected by medical chart review with assistance from clinicians of the EMC. Logistic regression results showed that patients who headed home after discharge without follow-up schedule had a 27.6 times higher risk of revisiting EMC than those who were hospitalized following EMC visit. Patients discharged on his own will had a 5.9 times higher risk of revisiting than those discharged following physician's advice. Patients requiring continual observation at the time of discharge were more likely to revisit by 8.7 times than those discharged with improved condition. About 69.13% of the revisits were due to disease-related factors, followed by 13.90% due to patient-related factors, 8.64% due to system-related factors, and 8.34% due to physician-related factors. It appears that the most significant factors influencing revisits are discharge management factors such as patient's condition at discharge, whether the discharge was accorded with physician's advice, and whether returning home without follow-up schedule. Therefore, appropriate discharge management is necessary to prevent EMC revisit.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze university students' types of spatial consumptive decision behavior in order to provide a guideline on development of creative squares on campus. In particular, it is investigated how student's general characteristics, such as gender, age and major, awareness of creative squares, and preferred spatial types have influence on types of spatial decision consumptive behavior. In addition, correlations among the factors and types are analyzed. As a specific method for gathering information, a questionnaire composed of 46 questions was drawn up to conduct a survey of 206 students of S University in Seoul. The collected data from the survey were analyzed using SPSS windows v17.0. Based on a few previous works, the spatial consumptive decision behavior is classified into four types with Crombach ${\alpha}=0.794$ : 'Exploration' type, 'Experience' type, 'Showing-off type, and 'Trend-Following' type. The main results of this paper can be summarized as follows. First, all factors that affect spatial consumptive decision behavior are more or less correlated with one another. Second, awareness of creative square is significantly different according to the age and major of students. Third, in general, the 'Exploration' type embraces the largest number of students, followed by 'Experience' type, 'Showing-off type, and 'Trend-Following' type. Fourth, the portion of students belonging to each type is a little different according to the major of students. Finally, each type of spatial consumptive decision behavior is highly correlated with the gender and preferred spatial types of students. It was also found that all types of students prefer three to five specific spatial types. Accordingly, the identified spatial types can be exploited in developing a creative square in campus. The results of this paper are expected to expedite follow-up research on creative squares on campus under various conditions.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate adherence to the clean intermittent catheterization (CIC) and influencing factors on the adherence following a customized intensive education program (CIEP). Methods: This work is a retrospective descriptive study. The subjects were 226 emptying failure patients who learned in a CIEP from January 2012 to July 2014. The program developed in 2011 and consisted of 1) customized theoretical education; based on the results of urologic tests, underlying disease, or surgery of the patients, 2) hands-on practice until the trainees were able to master the techniques, 3) questions about the process of catheterization and what he/she needs to know. 4) at follow-up, the survey about adherence and barrier to CIC. Clinical characteristics; the level of satisfaction, understanding, and self-confidence; the barrier in medical records were reviewed. Results: The short-term adherence rate (median 22 days) is 87.6% and the long-term adherence rate (median 112 days) is 50.4%. The biggest obstacle is time management. The levels of satisfaction, understanding, and self-confidence are very high. The variable of Income is the only factor that has influence on adherence. Conclusion: Despite the CIEP, the adherence rate is relatively low. In addition to the education, emotional and psychological supports and regular follow-up are needed to improve long-term adherence.
This study, using the free language association method, examined the characteristics of emotional words of respondents who were exposed to facial photos of women in 60s, and favorableness and favorable styles of them. To analyze mood characteristics on the faces, they were divided into positive mood words and negative mood words. Following previous researches, they were divided into introversion, extraversion, and ambiversion. It was found that the proportion of positive emotional words respondents used was 37%, and that of negative ones was 63%, demonstrating that respondents are more likely than not to get the negative impressions from the faces of their contemporaries. The characteristics of the words consists of 38% introversion, 47% extraversion, and 14% ambiversion. And, respondents used the words like 'beautiful' and 'good-looking' to the stimuli to which they felt favorable, and 'ill-tempered' and 'stubborn' to the stimuli to which they felt unfavorable. Third, the most favorable style to both male and female respondents in 60s were sentimental and good-mannered. They generally favor women who are soft and caring, and dislike talkative, snobbish, and thick make-up women. The analysis results in this paper may help image making and personal relations. Further study needs to expand the survey area to ensure more significant influence on the social life and interpersonal relationship of senior citizens.
The purpose of this study is to analyze of recognization and behaivor characteristcs of customers in Korean fashion market. The study is analyzed through questionary paper to the domestic female group of more than or equal to age of twenty living in Seoul. The collected questionary paper is analyzed with SPSS/PC+ program and the method of statistical analysis used for this study is frequency analysis factor analysis reliability analysis cluster analysis t-test and corsstab analysis. The result of analysis of recognization and behaivor characteristics of customers involves the following: Firstly the result of analysis of the degree of recognition between the environment-friendly customer group and non-envirnoment-friendly customer group in relation to green fashion products showed meaningful differences. Secondly when observing the average of the two according to the behavioral characteristics of their activities of purchasing advertising in relation to green clothes it showed that environment friendly customers saw and heard relatively much more advertisements for green fashion product. These serial processes of research have the meaning in confirming that segmented market for environment-friendly customers exists in the domestic fashion market and these will not only set up the basis of research on the market of green fashion product but also be able to contribute to propose future direction of research.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of Mario Botta's residential design. The characteristics of Mario Botta's residential design are following as : 1. The residential design of Mario Botta planed from 1960' to 1970's is based on the style composition method of modern design, specially by the influence of Le Corbusier and Louis I. Kahn. Botta's residential design of the 1980's is generally affected by A. Palladio, and is characterized as the representation of classic standard. The residential design of the 1980's shows the establishment level of Mario Botta's residential design, and produces particular Botta's facade. 2. The characteristics of Mario Botta's spatial composition on residential design could be implicated by the spatial distribution of each floor which is divided by three floors, simple and primitive volume which has a symmetry, opening through the massive elimination n the center of front, double skin, the contrast between void and solid, and the inflow of light through the top-light. 3. Most Botta's residential designs have Loggia in the center of facade working as a buffer space which joins outside and inside space together. They also lead the spatial continuous flow. The inside space is combined by the light coming through top-light and vertical opening. 4. They have high accomplishment in complicating details. They show the outside design of a horizontal belt according to the module of concrete block and the decorated design using compositional materials such as an unevenness piled up askew concrete block .
Fashion is the social process concerned with the spread of a new product from its source to consumer. Fashion leadership may be associated the shopping-related behaviors, such as shopping motives, on-going information search, impulse buying behavior. In order to study the relationship between the fashion leadership and the shopping-related characteristics, Three research problems were set up for the study as follows: Research problem 1: To investigate the fashion leadership. Research problem 2: To analyze the relationship between the fashion leadership and the characteristics of shopping-related behavior. Research problem 3: To analyze the relationship between the fashion leadership and other fashion-related behaviors. After statistical analysis using the SPSSWIN, the following results was found. Fashion leadership approximates the normal distribution curve, and its structure consists of one dimension. Using the factor analysis, the two kinds of shopping motive was confirmed hedonic motive and cognitive motive. Fashion leadership was related to the hedonic shopping motive. Also there were positive associations between the fashion leadership on-going information search behavior, and the impulse buying behavior. And there was significant association between the fashion leadership and expense for clothes and spending time for shopping.
