  • This paper describes that the distribution of electromagnetic field occurred by PD(Partial Discharge) pulse was calculated with simulation program and characteristics of calibration and PD pulses measured with folded dipole types sensors were analyzed. As the distribution of electromagnetic field in simulation was very random the wide band measuring methods were good. Therefore three folded dipole antenna types sensors which had different their widths were designed and made. The signal according to direction and distance between sensor and pulse source in these sensor was measured and the spectrum of surface PD were acquired in the experiment of model transformer. In this result the characteristics of sensor which had middle width was better than others and the main spectrum of PD signals in surface discharge were existed in around 220MHz, 320MHz and from 450MHz to 750MHz.

  • Motivated by the Communication Broadcasting Convergence service, various technical approaches are being used to develop more efficient antenna models. This paper proposes a compact mobile antenna which is attachable to a cell phone and is applicable for Communication Broadcasting Convergence. In the design of the antennas for mobile handsets, size reduction is a crucial factor. In this paper, the compactness of a loop antenna is realized by bending a folded-dipole. A short planar dipole is transformed to a twice folded dipole and a loop antenna to produce a larger input resistance. The current distribution of the antenna is the same as a loop antenna, and its radiation patterns are omni-directional. We also analyze the performance of the RFID antenna by exploring the current-induced near field radiation patterns using a electro-optic field mapping system.

  • This paper examines the design, implementation characteristics of a folded dipole active integrated antenna. Our goal was to minimize the physical size of RF circuit and its insertion loss, and to make the high frequency tuning easier by directly integrating the ISM(Industrial Scientific & Medical) band power amplifier and antenna. Non-linear model has been used for highly accurate simulation of the power amplifier. The maximum power level was found by using the Load pull method before an impedance matching was achieved. It is found that the total power-added efficiency(PAE) including the driving amplifier was 31.5% and that the transmit power was 13.7 dBm. We also found that the proposed scheme with the smaller antenna as compared with the existing dipole antenna has 23.7 dB total gain including the antenna gain. The suppression of the second harmonic signal to the fundamental signal with respect to the fundamental signal was found to be more than 30 dBc.

  • In this paper, we propose an FSSH(Folded Slot Spherical Helix) magnetic dipole antenna with a form factor easy to build and study its radiation properties. The number of folded arms, the gap between them and the metal thickness are tuned to achieve relatively simple structure to realize whereas maintaining high radiation efficiency at an electrically small size. The proposed design shows wide radiation efficiency bandwidth and it is confirmed by circuit simulation that the non-Foster impedance matching techniques could be utilized for its practical use. The prototype of the proposed antenna is built with the aid of an SLS(Selective Laser Sintering) 3D printing technology. The measured result shows lower Q impedance characteristic due to high resistive loss of the copper tape joints.

  • Design and characteristic improvement of existing folded dipole antenna is presented to adopt W-CDMA(1.885~2.170 GHz) wideband antenna radiators. The antenna structure has +/- 45 degrees dual polarization. In order to overcome the narrow bandwidth and low gain characteristic typical of the microstrip antenna, double layered structure was employed. The antenna achieved below - 20 dB reflection coefficients each ports, - 20 dB of port isolation, above 7 dBi of gain, providing evidence that the proposed design can be used in the W-CDMA service frequency band antenna.

  • In this paper, I introduced the theoretical formulas for calcuating the input impedance of a folded dipole antenna which is held in parallel with the conductive supporter. Through the comparision of the above impedance formulas with the imput impedance formulas of a half wave dipole antenna which is parallel to the conductive supporter, it was found that the former can be made in identically same form as the latter, if some conditions are satisfied. The equivalent conditions mentioned above are derived also and the manufacturing of a vertically polarized omni-drectional antenna is apossible by the use of above equivalent conditions, because a half wave dipole antenna in parallel with a conductive supporter is already illustrated to become an omni-directional vertical polarization antenna. Some experimental data are shown together.

  • In this paper, we propose 2.6 GHz single band dual polarization MIMO omni antenna for in-building applications. The proposed antenna operates at 2.6 GHz single LTE band, Up-link 2.52~2.54 GHz and Down-link 2.64~2.66 GHz. Horizontal and vertical polarizations of the antenna has been, respectively, constructed by the synthesis of four folded loop antennas and the folded monopole antenna. The height of the MIMO omni-directional antenna is minimized to be less than ${\lambda}/13.5$ from the ground. The measurement results show excellent MIMO omni antenna performance of 2.85 dBi vertical polarization gain, 2.29 dBi horizontal polarization gain, and 19.25 dB port isolation.

  • In this paper, to achieve a broad-band and high-gain antenna, we thus designed and analyzed the CRLPDA(Corner Reflector Antenna feeding by Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna) made up of 90$^{\circ}$corner reflector, which is trough-reflector type installed a planar reflector at the folded line. CRLPDA for operating frequency band of 1,400 MHB ~ 2,400 MHz was designed and radiation characteristics of the designed antenna were analyzed by moment method. To verify the analysis results, CRLPDA was fabricated and the calculated results were compared with the measured results. The measured results showed good agreement with the calculated results. As the result of measurements, bandwidth(VSWR>2) for 1,000 MHz was achieved and gain was 13 dBi.

  • A long range UHF RFID tag with a rectangular metallic cavity structure is proposed for various applications with metallic objects. The proposed tag consists of a rectangular metallic cavity structure and a folded dipole antenna which is located on top of the cavity. The tag is designed for Korean UHF RFID band(910~914 MHz) and the bandwidth, which satisfies the -10 dB input reflection coefficient requirement, is approximately 1.3 %(904~916 MHz). Measurement demonstrates that the proposed tag shows long reading range up to 15 m when it is placed on a metallic plate.

  • A pattern-switchable origami antenna is designed with paper using inkjet-printing technology. The proposed antenna can be switched between loop and dipole antenna modes by folding and unfolding the paper, respectively. The proposed antenna is designed for the resonant frequencies of both modes to be 1.85 GHz. Eutectic gallium-indium liquid metal is introduced in order to avoid cracks in the conductive ink when the paper is folded. The performance of the proposed antenna is demonstrated through simulation and measurement results and antenna gain of dipole-mode and loop-mode are -4 dBi and -5 dBi, respectively. Also, the nulls of both dipole and loop modes compensate nulls from each mode.
