  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic aspect of sea transportation system between Inchon and Youngjong island in which Inchon international airport is being constructed. Total demand of sea transportation arising from in the airport and Yongyu Muwi leisure complex was estimated. To select optimum transportation route, environmental conditions in and around Inchon harbour and Youngjong island including the change of water depth by tide current, fog, rain, wind adn typhoon, ets., were investigated. The preliminary consideration on ships (size, velocity, transport capacity, price), routes, operational modes, terminals and berthing facilities were carried out. The transportation cost per passenger by sea transportation system was estimated to compare with that of land transportation system. It was found that sea transportation system proposed is competitive to the transportation system.

Estimation of Traffic Volume Using Deep Learning in Stereo CCTV Image (스테레오 CCTV 영상에서 딥러닝을 이용한 교통량 추정)

  • Traffic estimation mainly involves surveying equipment such as automatic vehicle classification, vehicle detection system, toll collection system, and personnel surveys through CCTV (Closed Circuit TeleVision), but this requires a lot of manpower and cost. In this study, we proposed a method of estimating traffic volume using deep learning and stereo CCTV to overcome the limitation of not detecting the entire vehicle in case of single CCTV. COCO (Common Objects in Context) dataset was used to train deep learning models to detect vehicles, and each vehicle was detected in left and right CCTV images in real time. Then, the vehicle that could not be detected from each image was additionally detected by using affine transformation to improve the accuracy of traffic volume. Experiments were conducted separately for the normal road environment and the case of weather conditions with fog. In the normal road environment, vehicle detection improved by 6.75% and 5.92% in left and right images, respectively, than in a single CCTV image. In addition, in the foggy road environment, vehicle detection was improved by 10.79% and 12.88% in the left and right images, respectively.

  • The construction industry is known to be one of the representative industries that generate fine dust. Therefore, reducing the amount of fine dust generated in construction sites is very important for the overall fine dust management. Based on this, this study proposed the concept of fine dust measurement and removal technology combined with advanced technologies such as drones and IoT. The qualitative, quantitative and risk elimination effects that can be expected when applying the proposed technique are analyzed. We will verify the effectiveness of the proposed concept through system development and field application, and evaluate specific economic feasibility through cost analysis.   • Weather conditions have played a vital role in a war. Many historical records reported that the miss use of weather information is the main reason of the lost a war. In this study we demonstrated the possibility of applying the numerical weather prediction system(NWPS) for military operations. The NWPS consists of PC-cluster as a super computer, data assimilation system ingesting many remote sensing observation, and graphic systems. High resolution prediction in NWPS can provide useful weather information such as wind, temperature, sea fog and so on for military operations.

  • The Air Quality Sensor(AQS), located near the fresh air inlet, serves to reduce the amount of pollution entering the vehicle cabin through the HVAC(heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) system by sending a signal to close the fresh air inlet door/ventilation flap when the vehicle enters a high pollution area. One chip sensor module which include above two sensing elements, humidity sensor and bad odor sensor was developed for AQS (air quality sensor) in automobile. With this sensor module, PIC microcontroller was designed with back propagation neural network to reduce detecting error when the motor vehicles pass through the dense fog area. The signal from neural network was modified to control the inlet of automobile and display the result or alarm the situation. One chip microcontroller, Atmega128L (ATmega Ltd., USA) was used. For the control and display. And our developed system can intelligently detect the bad odor when the motor vehicles pass through the polluted air zone such as cattle farm.

Foodborne Pathogen Reduction을 위한 항균제의 새로운 Delivery System인 Aerosolization

  • Aims: As a preliminary experiment on new sanitizer delivery tools, the efficacy of aerosolizedsanitizer on foodborne pathogens was investigated in larger model chamber system.Methods: Peroxyacetic acid and hydrogen peroxide were aerosolized in a model system againstartificially inoculated target microorganisms on laboratory media. Cultures of 4 different foodborne pathogens were inoculated and affixed onto 3 different heights (bottom, wall, and ceiling), and 3different orientations (face-down, vertical, and face-down) inside a commercial semi-trailer cabinet(14.6 x 2.6 x 2.8 m). Sanitizer was aerosolized into 2 m droplet size fog and treated for 1 h atambient temperature.Results: Populations of Bacillus cereus, Listeria innocua, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonellatyphimurium were reduced by an average of 3.09, 7.69, 6.93 and 8.18 log units per plate, respectively.Interestingly, L. innocua, Staph. aureus, and Salm. typhimurium showed statistically not different (P$\leq$ 0.05) reduction patterns relative to height and orientation that were never expected in a sprayingsystemConclusion and significance: Aerosolized sanitizers diffuse like gaseous sanitizers, so it has greatpotential for use in commercial applications.

  • This paper proposes a method of container position measurement using automatic landing system that is estimated by a laser range finder. In the most of container position measurement methods, CCD cameras or laser scanners have been used to get the source data. However those sensors are not only weak for disturbances, for examples, the light, fog, and rain, but also the system cost is high. When the spreader arrives the goal position, it is still swung by inertia or by wind effect. In this paper, the spreader swung data have been used to find the container position. The laser range finder is equipped in the front side of spreader. It can measure distance and relative position between spreader and container. This laser range finder can be rotated as desired by a motor. And a tilt sensor is equipped on the spreader to measure spreader sway. We estimate the relative position information between the spreader and a container using the laser range finder and tilt sensor through the geometrical analysis.

  • A fiber optic gyrocompass for ships was made in consideratino of cost, reliability and convenience. In order to reduce the cost a cheaper fiber sensor was used inthis system. The accuracy was increased by replacing a 180ppr-slit disk with a 1000ppr-encoder. The reliability was also increased by improving the signal processing electronics. This system was made as a heading angle display type for convenience. Although more inexpensive FOG than that of the previous system was used , the accuracy of this compass was increased about 0.5$^{\circ}$. Moreover, it has a very fast warm-up time of about 5minutes. Therefore, this compass can show the prospect of proactical use on ships if it is installed ona stabilizer against the dynamic motion such as rolling and pitching.
