Fog degree measurement based on patch property of defogging algorithm (안개 제거 알고리즘의 patch 특성을 이용한 안개 량 측정)

  • 안개 제거 알고리즘은 single image에서 대기값(Airlight)와 대기의 빛 전달량(Transmission)을 추정하여 안개로 인한 빛의 산란에 의해 생긴 Contrast 감소 및 채도의 왜곡과 같은 영상 왜곡을 보정해줌으로써 안개 영상에서 안개를 효과적으로 제거해준다. 하지만 기존의 안개 제거 알고리즘은 안개 영상에 특화되었기 때문에 안개가 없는 영상에 알고리즘을 시행 할 경우 색상과 명암에 왜곡을 불러 일으킬 수 있다. 이에 따라 알고리즘을 수행하기 앞서 안개 량을 측정하고 그 결과에 따라 안개 제거 알고리즘에 제거 정도 가중치나 알고리즘 수행 여부를 판단할 필요가 있다. 본 논문은 기존 안개 제거 알고리즘들이 영상의 patch를 사용하여 빛 전달량(Transmission)을 추정한다는 것을 이용하여 빛 전달량을 구함과 동시에 안개 량을 판단하는 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 안개량을 측정하기 위해 각 patch의 pixel 분포 특성과 patch의 빛 전달량(Transmission)을 구하기 위한 특정 값과 실제 pixel의 명암(Intensity)을 비교하여 안개 량을 측정한다.

  • Recently polymer arresters are being used widely but we don't have appropriate long term characteristics test methods. Therefore we need to develop special test facility to evaluate long term reliability of polymer arresters. It's polymeric housing can be degraded by environmental stress and the interface between housing and inner module can be affected by moisture absorption. This moisture absorption can cause leakage current and tracking in the interface. We developed multi stress accelerated ageing test facility to simulate field conditions including UV, temperature, humidity, voltage, salt fog and rain. In addition, we carried out field exposure test at the outdoor test yard and characteristics analysis of field operated specimens to evaluate accelerating factor of this accelerated aging test.

  • This paper present the result of the investigation, electric properties of outdoor insulators with the difference of contaminated condition. In general, the humidity and the amount of soluble salts such as NaCl, MgCl$_2$are the most dominant factor. A mini-fog chamber with transparent acryl and the standard contamination solution with kaoline was used. The kaoline was applied with sprayer to get the specific ESDD and NSDD value, then the specimen was dried and installed horizontally. And to measure the leakage current and the ambient condition, such as relative humidity and temperature, a DAS system was developed with LabView. From the result, we could know the influence of contaminated condition. Contaminated area and pattern has a close relationship with the electrical properties of outdoor insulator.

JE JU 4.3 and "4.3 Literature" (기술사마당: 문예 - "제주(濟州) 4.3"과 "4.3 文學(문학)"-)

  • The epoch-making event of history called "JE JU 4.3" took place in JE JU beautiful island on liberation political situation in 1948. The cruelties of this event were reported awful life loss over 30,000, cruel slaughter by government, scorched villages in mountain area, silence exaction and disadvantage of implication for long time over 40 years. But, the real features are in still a fog.. Recently, the searching movement has arised owing to democracy atmosphere and literature works with "JE JU4.3" materials were published from 1988 and the government announced official apologies in 2003. The novel "The Sun-set on Halla Mt", one of those works, is accessible to real history due to its time/space back ground and the real name of persons who were related with this event. It is important for readers to consider the difference between real history and fiction story. Because a historical novel should be evaluated by writer's theme rather than history character.

Focal Plane Irradiance from MCF in Millimeter Wave Systems

  • Millimeter waves are potentially useful for high resolution ranging and imaging in low optical visibility conditions such as fog and smoke. Also, They are used for wide band communications. However, it is necessary to develop a theoretical and experimental understanding of millimeter wave propagation to assess the performance of millimeter wave systems. The intensity fluctuations and mutual coherence function (MCF) describe atmospheric effects on the millimeter wave propagation. Using the quasi-optical method (QOM), an efficient and practical method was suggested to obtain the intensity distribution of the antenna focal plane from MCF which can be determined using meteorological data.

  • In this paper, we describe a study on the relationship between spectral sensitization and photographic characteristics of color paper. The photographic emulsion used in this study is a green-sensitizing emulsion. U.V maximum absorption peak value of 9-phenyl-5,5'-diphenyl-3,3'-bis(3-sulfopropyl)benzoxazolo carbocyanine triethyl ammonium salt was observed 507nm, and wedge spectrograms maximum peak value of color paper added dye to photographic emulsion was shown 553nm. As compared with the absorption peak of the dye in methanol solution, the sensitizing peaks of 9-phenyl-5,5'-diphenyl-3,3'-bis(3-sulfopropyl)benzoxazolo carbocyanine triethyl ammonium salt have red shifts of 46nm. The photographic characteristics of green-sensitizing emulsion were obtained contrast(2.6), speed(48-57), fog(0.08). Therefore, benzoxazolo carbocyanine dye is of industrial importance as green-sensitizing dye in the spectral sensitization of photographic emulsion.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the effects of the environmental factors on Low Molecular Weight (LMW) silicone fluid contents existing in high temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicone rubber sample, using dipping method and contact angle, current measurement. Artificial treatments such as immersion in water, elevated temperature, UV irradiation and dry band arcing under salt-fog condition are selected as the environmental factors. This results will be helpful to investigate the degradation with time and to expect a life time, because the LMW silicone content, which is important to recovery the hydrophobicity of silicone rubber surface, show different results by each environmental factors.

  • The construction industry is known to be one of the representative industries that generate fine dust. Therefore, reducing the amount of fine dust generated in construction sites is very important for the overall fine dust management. Based on this, this study proposed the concept of fine dust measurement and removal technology combined with advanced technologies such as drones and IoT. The qualitative, quantitative and risk elimination effects that can be expected when applying the proposed technique are analyzed. We will verify the effectiveness of the proposed concept through system development and field application, and evaluate specific economic feasibility through cost analysis.   • At a time when securing driving safety is the most important in the development and commercialization of autonomous vehicles, AI and big data-based algorithms are being studied to enhance and optimize the recognition and detection performance of various static and dynamic vehicles. However, there are many research cases to recognize it as the same vehicle by utilizing the unique advantages of radar and cameras, but they do not use deep learning image processing technology or detect only short distances as the same target due to radar performance problems. Radars can recognize vehicles without errors in situations such as night and fog, but it is not accurate even if the type of object is determined through RCS values, so accurate classification of the object through images such as cameras is required. Therefore, we propose a fusion-based vehicle recognition method that configures data sets that can be collected by radar device and camera device, calculates errors in the data sets, and recognizes them as the same target.

  • Spinal dysraphic lesions due to focal nondisjunction in primary neurulation are commonly encountered in paediatric neurosurgery, but the "fog-of-war" on these conditions was only gradually dispersed in the past 10 years by the works of the groups led by the senior author and Prof. Kyu-Chang Wang. It is now clear that limited dorsal myeloschisis and congenital spinal dermal sinus tract are conditions at the two ends of a spectrum; and mixed lesions of them with various configurations exist. This review article summarizes the current understanding of these conditions' embryogenetic mechanisms, pathological anatomy and clinical manifestations, and their management strategy and surgical techniques.
