  • A series of methanesulfonamide (I a- I g) and phenylhydrazone (IIa-IIh) derivatives were synthesized and their fungicidal activity in vitro against gray mold (BC: Botrytis cinerea), phytophthora blight (PC: Phytophthora capsici) and sheath blight (RS: Rhizoctonia solani) were measured by agar dilution method. The (II) deriviatives showed higher activity than ( I ) derivitives. And the relative orders of the fungicidal activity are BC=PC>RS, Among these compounds, 3-chlorophenyl substituent, IIg showed the most highest activity ($pI_{50}=3.96$) against PC. From the parameter focusing technique, major factors on the activity were ovality, polar and logP constant and so on.

  • Parameter focusing on the DNA topoisomerase-Iinhibition with X-substituted phenyl substituents in 1-(2-furyl)-3-phenylpropenone derivatives as inhibition material were analyzed. From the basis on the results the inhibition on DNA topoisomerase I suggested that the inhibition activities of X-substituted phenyl substitutents would depend largely on the net charge of $\beta$-carbon atom, LUMO energy (e.v.) and STERIMOL parameter B$_{5}$ (width) of X. Among them, non-substituent (X=H), 1 and 2,2-dichloro substituent, 4 showed the highest DNA topoisomerase-I inhibition activity.y.

  • SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) signal data need a focusing procedure to make the information available to the user. In recent SAR systems, various sensing modes and mission operations are applied to acquire high-resolution SAR images. Therefore, in order to develop generalized focusing software for multi-satellites, a regularized parameter configuration that sufficiently represents sensor and platform characteristics of the SAR system is required. The objective of this paper is to introduce the consideration of parameter definition for developing a generalized SAR processor and to discuss the flexibility and extensibility of defined parameters. The proposed parameter configuration can be applied to a SAR processor. Experiments based on real data will show the suitability of the suggested processing parameters.

  • Focusing geometry dependence of output Stokes energy in single pass methane Raman shifter is investigated. The experimental result shows that the threshold energy decreases as confocal parameter increases. This result can be explained by gain suppression caused by Stokes - anti-Stokes coupling. In this paper, we give simple analysis for the focusing geometry dependence of Stokes - anti-Stokes coupling and present the criterion of confocal parameter to reduce the gain suppression. Focusing geometry dependence of stimulated Brillouin scattering is measured and the result is in good agreement with theoretical prediction.

  • Various techniques for noninvasively focus microwave energy on lesions have been proposed for thermotherapy. To focus the microwave energy on the lesion, a focusing parameter, which is referred to as the magnitude and phase of microwaves radiated from an external array antenna, is very important. Although the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD)-based time-reversal (TR) focusing algorithm is widely used, it has a long processing time if the focusing target position changes or if optimization is needed. We propose a technique to obtain multistatic data (MSD) based on Green's function and use it to derive the focusing parameters. Computer simulations were used to evaluate the electric fields inside the object using the FDTD method and Green's function as well as to compare the focusing parameters using FDTD- and MSD-based TR focusing algorithms. Regardless of the use of Green's function, the processing time of MSD-based TR focusing algorithms reduces to approximately 1/2 or 1/590 compared with the FDTD-based algorithm. In addition, we optimize the focusing parameters to eliminate hotspots, which are unnecessary focusing positions, by adding phase-reversed electric fields and confirm hotspot suppression through simulations.

  • Focused-ion-beam (FIB) system is capable of both machining and measuring in nano-scale; hence nano-scale focusing quality is important. This paper investigates design parameters of two electrostatic lenses in order to achieve the best ion beam focusing performance. Commercial SIMION simulator is used to optimize the dimensions of the condenser and objective lenses and investigate the influence of assembly error on focusing quality The simulation results show that the beam focusing quality is not influenced by angle deviation within ${\pm}0.02\;deg$ and geometrical eccentricity within ${\pm}50$ micrometers.

  • Radially polarized beams with the ability to generate a sub-wavelength sized spot in a longitudinal field provides significant applications in microscopic imaging, optical tweezers, lithography and so on. However, this excellent property can also be achieved based on conventional circularly polarized beams. Here, we demonstrate its ability to create a strong longitudinal field by comparing the tight focusing characteristics of fractional-order vortex modulated radial polarized and left-handed circular polarized Bessel-Gauss beams. Additionally, the possibility of generating arbitrary fractional-order vortex modulated Bessel-Gauss beams with a strong longitudinal field is demonstrated. A special modulation method of left-handed circularly polarized Bessel-Gauss beams modulated by a fractional-order vortex is adopted creatively and a series of regulation laws are obtained. Specifically, the fractional-order phase modulation parameter n can accurately control the number of optical lobes. The ratio of the pupil radius to the incident beam waist β1 can control the radius of the optical lobes. The first-order Bessel function amplitude modulation parameter β2 can control the number of layers of optical lobes. This work not only adds a new modulation method for optical micromanipulation and optical communication, but also enriches the research on fractional vortex beams which has very important academic significance.

  • The magnetic gear, which amplifies the torque by filtering the magnetic field generated by the low-speed permanent magnet with a modulator, can exclude gear contact and can be effectively applied when there are environmental restrictions. In this paper, we discuss the magnetic force characteristics of a magnetic gear using a magnetic focusing array that replaces a general permanent magnet array magnetized in a radial direction along the circumferential direction. The torque increasing effect of the discussed array, known as an arrangement that increases the principal component by focusing a radial magnetic field, is compared with that of a general magnetic gear. In particular, in a magnetic gear using such an array, the sensitivity of torque according to variables is analyzed to see how various variables known as factors affecting torque have an effect.

  • With the world-wide demand on the emission minimization, the needs on the diesel aftertreatment devices with high efficiency are also increasing. In order to effectively develop or design a high-performance diesel particulate filter, a clear understanding on the deposition and regeneration mechanism is required. In the present study, a theory on the lumped parameter model for wall-flow type diesel particulate filters is described focusing on the deposition efficiency, pressure drop inside the filter. The fourth order explicit Runge-Kutta method is utilized for the mass flow rate computation. Engine operation modes with controlled and uncontrolled regeneration options are selected. The computational lumped parameter model is validated by comparing the computed results with the measured data.
