  • In this study, we have developed a new $UV(\lambda=355nm)$ laser micromachining technology by direct ablation method without masks. This technology allows that 3D micro parts can be fabricated rapidly and efficiently with a low price. And it has a benefit of reducing fabricating process simply. Due to micro parts' fabrication, such technologies need the control of XYZ stages with high precision, the design of optical devices to maintain micron spot sizes of laser beam and the control technology of laser focus. Also, we have fabricated a micro-channel through the developed laser micromachining technology and verified it through the results.

  • Measurement of concentration distributions of suspended particles in a micro-channel is out of the most crucial necessities in the area of Lab-on-a-chip to be used for various bio-chemical applications. One most feasible way to measure the concentration field in the micro-channel is using micro-LIF(Laser Induced Fluorescence) method. However, an accurate concentration field at a given cross plane in a micro-channel has not been successfully achieved so far due to various limitations in the light illumination and fluorescence signal detection. The present study demonstrates a novel method to provide an ultra thin laser sheet beam having five(5) microns thickness by use of a micro focus laser line generator. The laser sheet beam illuminates an exact plane of concentration measurement field to increase the signal to noise ratio and considerably reduce the depth uncertainty. Nile Blue A was used as fluorescent dye for the present LIF measurement. The enhancement of the fluorescent intensity signals was performed by a solvent mixture of water $(95\%)$ and ethanol (EtOH)/methanol (MeOH) $(5\%)$ mixture. To reduce the rms errors resulted from the CCD electronic noise and other sources, an expansion of grid size was attempted from $1\times1\;to\;3\times3\;or\;5\times5$ pixel data windows and the pertinent signal-to-noise level has been noticeably increased accordingly.

  • In this paper, we present the results of our research to perform 3D laser scanning functions by adding a focusing lens to a conventional 2D laser scanner. For the optical design, the ray-tracing technique was used along with a total of four lenses as the variable incident focusing lens, the collimating lens, and the F-Theta lens. As design variables, the curvature of the incident focusing lens (Lens #1) was assumed to be us, l mm and sumed mm, and the incident angles were set at 0cidenus, l. In addition, the distance between the focusing lens and the collimating lens was set to vary from 5 mm to 15 mm. When the incident focal length was varied from 5 mm to 15 mm, the exit focal length was calculated to vary from 67.5 mm to 56.8 mm for the lens with R = 100 mm and from 108.5 mm to 99.0 mm for the lens with R = 150 mm. When the incident angle was 0°, the focal aberration was only slightly observable at 10㎛ in both the x- and y-direction. At 7.5° was the focal aberration of approximately 20~50㎛ was measured at 20㎛. To investigate the chromatic aberration of the designed optical device, the distortion of the focus was observed when the 550 nm beam was simulated on lens designed for a 980 nm wavelength.

  • In this paper, there was finding laser beam focal length using the camera at the work with laser preprocess. A process have some similarity that the laser direct writing was condition of unused other light source in order to a partical object of working substrate, so we worked finding focal length using yellow light. As we found focal lengths from three points of substrate edges, The focal length of all substrates was able to be computed by calculating a plane equation using these three point. Also we make a device and software that can automatically perform all of the processes.

  • The Nd:YAG laser process is known to have high speed and deep penetration capability to become one of the most advanced welding technologies. In spite of its good mechanical characteristics, SM45C carbon steel has a high carbon contents and suffers a limitation in the industrial application due to the poor welding properties. The major process parameters studied in the present laser welding experiment were position of focus, travel speed and laser power.

  • Laser welding techniques have been characterised for various materials. In this paper, the laser weldability of STS304 stainless steel and Inconel 600 at dissimilar metal welds using a continuous wave Nd:YAG laser are experimentally investigated. Inconel 600 is being used in a steam generator tubing of pressurized water reactor(PWR) exposed to some corrosion. Stress corrosion cracking can occur on this material. An experimental study was conducted to determine effects of welding parameters, on eliminating or reducing the extent welding zone formation at dissimilar metal welds and to optimize those parameters that have the most influence parameters such as focus length, power, beam speed, shielding gas, and wave length of laser were tested.

  • A trepanning optics is the optical system which makes focus laser beam rotate and incline to the material processing surface. The trepanning optics is used in order to improve the quality of laser drilling process and control the taper of drilling diameter. In order to make trepanning optics, we can use the eccentricity of lens, scanner using two mirror, dove prism, or wedge. Among these method, in this paper wedge is used for trepanning optics. The wedge trepanning optics has advantage on the high speed of rotation. In this paper, we design the wedge trepanning optics using ray tracing. ements and engine design variables of system to satisfy the customer's requirements.

  • We describe the optical trapping of yeast particles of $3~4\mu\textrm{m}$ in water solution using a diode laser operating at 790 nm. The yeast particles are trapped by a laser focus and are moved in 2- or 3-dimensions. This confirms the concept of negative light pressure by the gradient force due to the difference of the index of refractions of solutions and particles. By moving yeast particle vertically to the laser beam axis, we measured the horizontal component of the trapping force and compared it with the laser power.

  • For many years and primarily for economical reasons, Dissimilar Metal Welds have been used as transition joints in a variety of equipment and applications. But Dissimilar Metal Welds have several fabrication and metallurgical drawbacks that can often lead to in-service failures. In this paper, the laser weldability of STS304 stainless steel and SM45C at dissimilar metal welds using a continuous wave Nd:YAG laser are experimentally investigated. • The technology of Laser lamination joining of silicon steel sheets has been studied in this paper. Conventional sheets lamination process does not meet the requirments for the improvement electric parts performance. In response to this, a new Laser spot joining method has been developed. This study performs the Laser spot lamination joining while synchronizing the sillicon steel sheets in the dies with the press movement. Several conclusions have been drawn in this paper. Effects of beam focus, power, atmosphere gas and press oil etc.
