Fluorescent characteristics of baits and bait cages for swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus pots (꽃게 통발용 미끼 및 미끼통의 형광 특성)

  • In order to develop the substitutive materials for natural baits of swimming crab pots, the fluorescent characteristics of the baits were analyzed, and the preference of fluorescent dyes were investigated by the mean entrapped catch number to the pots through the water tank experiments and fishing experiments. On the investigation of fluorescent characteristics by the 5 kinds of baits, mackerel, krill, manila clam, pig's fat and chicken's head which were used in substitutive baits for test in the UV long wave(365nm) area, it showed clear blue fluorescence in the skin of mackerel, shell of krill, manila clam and bill of chicken's head, and green fluorescence in the mackerel s muscle and internals, and yellow fluorescence in the pig's fat and chicken's head. On the investigation of fluorescent characteristics by the bait cages in the UV short wave(254nm) and long wave(365nm) area, it showed each green, red and blue fluorescence in the cylinderical or hexahedral red plastic bait cages which were painted each green, red and blue fluorescence dyes, but it showed yellowish green flourescence in the cylinderical or hexahedral red plastic bait cage which was painted yellow fluorescent dye. On the preference investigation of the fluorescent dyes of swimming crabs by the 5 kinds of the bait cages which were put the mackerel in the non-fluorescent red plastic cage($RF_N$), red, yellow, green and blue fluorescent plastic cages(RF, YF, GF, BF) each, nonfluorescent red plastic cage($RF_N$) was entrapped mean 2.0(6.7%), but blue fluorescent plastic cage(BF) was mean 5.0(16.7%) and it was more 2.5 times comparing to $RF_N$, and red fluorescent cage(RF) was same level and green fluorescent cage(GF) was 50% of catch number comparing to $RF_N$, and yellow fluorescent cage(YF) was entrapped nothing(F 46.324, P < 0.05). On the investigation of the entrapped catch number to the pots which were put the mackerel in the blue fluorescent hexahedral plastic cage(HP) and blue fluorescent silicon mackerel model cage(SM), HP was mean 3.4(11.3%) and it was a little more comparing to SM which was entrapped mean 3.2(10.7%)(t 0.775, P > 0.05). Fishing experiments on the preference investigation of swimming crabs by the pots which were put in the non-fluorescent red plastic cage($RF_N$) and blue fluorescent plastic cage(BF) were conducted 3 times. Mean catching number and weight of $RF_N$ were 71.7 ind.(18.3%) and 16.9kg(64.3%), and those of BF were 93.0 ind.(23.1%) and 19.8kg(64.5%), respectively.

Light Intensity and Spectral Characteristics of Fluorescent Lamps as Artificial Light Source for Close illumination in Transplant Production Factory (식물묘공장의 근접조명용 인공광원으로서 형광등의 광강도 및 분광 특성)

  • Light intensity and spectral characteristics of different types of fluorescent lamps were tested to investigate their possibility as the artificial lighting sources for the close illumination applied in the transplant production factory. Photosynthetic photon flux densitiy(PPF), illuminance and irradiance for all lamps decreased logarithmically with an increase of the vertical distance from the lighting source. The fluorescent lamp specially designed plant growth (PG lamp) showed a maximum spectral irradiance at the wavelength of 660nm. However, it showed lower irradiance than that of a standard fluorescent lamp at the range of wavelength between 500 and 600nm. On the other hand, PG lamp showed higher PPF and lower illuminance than those of the standard fluorescent lamp. The maximum peak of spectral characteristics for both of the single and twin three-bind fluorescent lamps was shorn at the wavelength of 545m and the next peaks were shown at the wavelength of 610nm and 435nm, respectively. Since the red fluorescent lamp has a narrower peak at the wavelength of 660nm, it may be useful for the supplementary red lighting. For three of standard, single three-band and twin three-band fluorescent lamps, the values of conversion factor for converting illuminance to PPF fell within the narrow range from 76 to 791x/$\mu$molㆍm$^{-2}$ ㆍs$^{-l}$ . However, for PG lamp, it was 29.71x/$\mu$molㆍm$^{-2}$ ㆍs$^{-1}$. Also, the values of conversion factor for converting PPF to irradiance of fluorescent lamp used in this study ranged between 4.85 and 5.34$\mu$molㆍm$^{-2}$ ㆍs$^{-1}$/Wㆍm$^{-2}$ .

  • The T-5 Lamps developed in 1996 is the high efficiency fluorescent lamps, the lamps voltage is high, and the lamps current small because the lamps are slender tube of 16mm diameter. And so, the electrical characteristics of the Ballast for the lamps are different from of the Ballast for T-10 or T-8 lamps. Therefore, the know-how of the exclusive Ballast for the T-5 fluorescent lamps should be as soon as possible. We described the electrical and optical characteristics of the Electronic Ballast for T-5 Circular Fluorescent lamps. The developed Electronic dimming Ballast for T-5 Circular Fluorescent lamps has the 45% energy saving effects than the T-10 lamps. And it has the promotion of the THD less than 10%, CF less than 1.5%, Flickering less than 5% and 99% power factor. And it is available for two T-5 Circular fluorescent Lamps dimming, 22W and 40W.

  • In this study, basic research was conducted to provide guidelines for selecting fluorescent dye and using proper concentration of fluorescent dye to use evaluation of cell viability and fluorescent dye delivery efficiency. Propidium iodide and Yo-Pro-1 were used as fluorescent dyes. In the evaluation of cell viability and the efficiency of delivery using Propidium Iodide and Yo-Pro-1, the histogram of each fluorescent dye was different depending on the type of fluorescent dye and the concentration used. These results were related to the characteristics of the fluorescent dyes used. This was related to the properties of the fluorescent dyes used. From these results, it was found that the analytical results depending on the characteristics of the fluorescent dyes used in the cell analysis. The effect of the fluorescent dye on the cell was confirmed, but it was confirmed that it did not affect the analysis result. In addition, the influence of interference between fluorescent signals was confirmed when two or more kinds of fluorescent dyes were used for analysis. The higher the concentration of Yo-Pro-1 was, the larger the effect of interference was, and the concentration of Propidium Iodide did not affect the interference of fluorescence signal. This study confirmed that the evaluation of the cell viability and the evaluation of the delivery efficiency were influenced by the type and concentration of the fluorescent dyes and it was related to the characteristics of the fluorescent dyes. Based on the results, appropriate concentrations of fluorescent dyes suitable for evaluation of cell viability and delivery efficiency were suggested.

  • In recent, there have been several developments in lamp technology that promise savings in electrical power consumption and improved quality of the lighting space. Above all, Electrodeless fluorescent lamp is the removal of internal electrodes and heating filaments that are a light-limiting factor of conventional fluorescent lamps. The electrodeless fluorescent lamp is intended as a high efficacy replacement for the incandescent reflector lamp in many applications. Therefore, the electrodeless fluorescent lamps is substantially higher than that of conventional fluorescent lamps and last up to 60,000 hours. In this paper, electron temperature and electron density were measured in a radio-frequency inductively coupled plasma using a Langmuir probe method for emission characteristics. Measurement was conducted in an argon discharge for pressure from 10 [mTorr] and input RF power 100 [W] to 150 [W]. As for the electron density, a electron temperature was more distinguished for a emission characteristic. The results of ideal may contribute to systematic understanding of a electrodeless fluorescent lamps of emission characteristics.

  • The green fluorescent protein (GFP) from the jellyfish aequorea and its fluorescent homologs from Anthozoa corals have become invaluable tools for imaging of cells and tissues. In this study various fluorescent protein such as green fluorescent protein (GFP), yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) and red fluorescent protein (RFP) have been expressed in Escherichia coli. Growth of recombinant cells and production of fluorescent proteins were investigated in shake flasks. Some characteristics of fluorescent proteins was also studied.

Characteristics of Fluorescent Organic Light Emitting Diodes using Amorphous IZO Anode Film (비정질 IZO 애노드를 이용한 형광 유기발광소자의 특성)

  • We reported on characteristics of the fluorescent OLED fabricated on commercial ITO/glass and BCS grown IZO/glass substrate, respectively. The amorphous IZO anode film grown by box cathode sputtering(BCS) exhibited similar electrical and optical characteristics to commercial ITO anode even though it was deposited at room temperature. In addition, the amorphous IZO anode showed higher workfunction (5.2 eV) than that of the commercial ITO anode (5.0 eV) after ozone treatment for 10 min. Furthermore, fluorescent OLED fabricated on amorphous IZO anode film showed improved current-voltage-luminance characteristics, external quantum efficiency and power efficiency en contrast with fluorescent OLED fabricated on commercial ITO anode film. It was thought that smooth surface and high workfunction of amorphous IZO anode lead to more efficient hole injection by reduction of interface barrier height between anode and organic layers.

  • In this study, contour vibration mode piezoelectric transformer with size of 27.5${\times}$27.5${\times}$2.6mm$^3$ using PNW-PMN-PZT ceramic was fabricated. And the piezoelectric transformer was adopted to fluorescent lamp ballast circuit. Electrical characteristics of the piezoelectric transformer were investigated for fluorescent lamp ballast application. The electrical properties and characteristic temperature rise were measured using oscilloscope and infrared temperature sensor. A 28W fluorescent lamp was successfully driven by the fabricated ballast circuit. After driving the lamp using ballast circuit for 24 min, the output power, efficiency and characteristic temperature rise of piezoelectric transformer showed the appropriate values of 28.85[W], 86.3[%] and 15[$^{\circ}C$], respectively.

Above all, the advantage of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp is the removal of internal electrodes and heating filaments that are a light-limiting factor of conventional fluorescent lamps. The ring-shaped electrodeless lamp is intended as a high efficiency replacement for the incandescent reflector lamp in many applications. Therefore, the life time of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamps is substantially higher than that of conventional fluorescent lamps and last up to 60,000 hours. In this paper, maxwell 3D finite element analysis program(Ansoft) was used to obtain electromagnetic properties associated with the coil and nearby structures. The electromagnetic emitting properties were presented by 3D simulation software operated at 250 KHz and some specific conditions. The optical characteristics were measured luminance and a temperature and an optical spectrum distribution for 10 min in a one minute interval at the same time. With a goal of finding alternative materials, we show measurement results of electrical characteristics of a ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp as a function of frequency and the number of coil turns using a highly permeable($\mu$$_{r}$(equation omitted) 2,000) Mn-Zn ferrite. These results are compared with those of conventional ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp. It is found that the resistance, inductance and impedance are increased while the quality factor decreases as frequency increases.s.
