Portland cement production is under critical review due to high amount of $CO_2$ gas released to the atmosphere. Attempts to increase the utilization of a by-products such as fly ash and ground granulated blast-furnace slag to partially replace the cement in concrete are gathering momentum. Many researchs on alkali-activated concrete that does not need the presence of cement as a binder have been carried out recently. Instead, the sources of material such as fly ash, that are rich in Silicon(Si) and Aluminium(Al), are activated by alkaline liquids to produce the binder. Hence concrete with no cement is effect reduction of $CO_2$ gas. In this study, we investigated the influence of the fluidity, air content and compressive strength of mortar on alkaline activator in order to develop cementless fly ash and ground granulated blast-furnace slag based alkali-activated mortar with superplasticizer. In view of the results, we found out that Pn of fluidity and compressive strength is the best in four type of superplasticizer, and PNS of powder type of fluidity is better than that of liquid type in the case of AA.

In this study, we investigated the thermotropic behavior of Daucus carota L. (DCS) extracts in phosphatidylcholine(PC) liposomes using high-sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (nano-DSC). We used dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) bilayers which made most stable liposomes among the other phosphatidylcholine. The sample DCS was extracted and fractionated to four different types, hexane(DCSMH), ethylacetate (DCSMEA), butanol (DCSMB) and aqueous(DCSMA) fractions. Compared to the other fractions of Daucus carota L., the DCSMH and DCSMEA fractions markedly affected the thermotropic properties of DPPC liposomes, broadened and shifted the thermograms of transition to lower temperatures. The incorporation of DCSMH and DCSMEA in DPPC liposomes were preferentially located in the hydrophobic core of DPPC bilayers, where it reduced the lipid packing orderness (cooperative unit) in the gel state compared to it in the liquid-crystalline state. These results suggest that the activities of the Daucus carota L. extracts to enhance the fluidity of the liposomal membrane have implication in their biological activities.

In this paper, effects of mixture proportion and material condition on both fundamental properties, drying and autogenous shrinkage of high performance concrete are discussed. According to the results, for the effect of mixture proportion on the fundamental properties, decrease in W/B and unit water content results in reduction of fluidity, while air content has no variation. Compressive strength exhibits an decreasing tendency with an increase in W/B and unit water content do not remarkable affect the compressive strength. For the effect of materials on the fluidity, the fluidity of low heat portland cement(LPC) is smaller than that of ordinary portland cement(OPC). The use of Polycarbonic acid based superplasticizer(PS) has more favorable effect on enhancing fluidity than Naphtalene based superplasticlzer(NS) and Melamine based superplasticizer(MS). Air content of concrete using LPC is larger than that using OPC. The effects of superplasticizer type on the air content is larger in order of MS, PS and NS. The use of LPC exhibited lower strength development at early age than OPC, whereas after 91days, similar level of compressive strength is achieved regardless of cement type. Compressive strength of concrete is not affected by SP type. For the effect of mixture proportion and materials on drying and autogenous shrinkage, an increase in W/B results in reduction of drying shrinkage and an decrease in water content leads to reduce drying shrinkage. Autogenous shrinkage is not observed until 49 days with the concrete mixture with $35\%$ of W/B and $145 kg/m^3$ of water content. This is due to the combination effects of expansion admixture and shrinkage reducing admixture, which causes an offset of autogenous shrinkage. The use of LPC results in a reduction in autogenous shrinkage compared with OPC. SP type has little influence on the autogenous shrinkage. It is found from the results that mixture proportioning of high performance concrete incorporating fly ash, silica fume, expansion admixture and shrinkage reducing admixture is need to focus on the increase in W/B and the reduction in water content and the use of LPC and MS is also required to use to secure the stability against shrinkage properties.

This report presents the results of an investigation on the fundamental properties of mortars high fluidity high volume slag cement(HVSC) activated with sodium silicate($Na_2SiO_3$). The ordinary Portland cement(OPC) was replaced by ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS) from 40% to 80% and calcium sulfoaluminate(CSA) was 2.5% or 5.0% mass. The $Na_2SiO_3$ was added at 2% and 4% by total binder(OPC+GGBFS+CSA) weight. A constant water-to-binder ratio(w/b)=0.35 was used for all mixtures. The research carried out the mini slump, V-funnel, setting time, compressive strength and drying shrinkage. The experimental results showed that the contents of superplasticizer, V-funnel, setting time and drying shrinkage increased as the contents of CSA and $Na_2SiO_3$ increase. The compressive strength increases with and an increase in CSA and $Na_2SiO_3$. One of the major reason for these results is the accelerated reactivity of GGBFS with CSA and $Na_2SiO_3$. The maximum performance was CSA 5.0% + $Na_2SiO_3$ 4% specimens.

In order to evaluating applicability of RAP (recycled aggregate powder) in mortar, in this study, physical and mechanical tests was carried out. Material characteristics of recycled aggregate and RAP were evaluated and the mechanical properties of mortar replaced with RAP were analyzed. Test result of sieve analysis showed that as the milling time increased the fineness modulus was decreased and the distribution of 0.6 mm particle size was found to increase. The fluidity of mortar mixture substituted with RAP tended to increase than Plain mixture. It was result that the increasing fluidity was affected by unreacted surplus water in the mortar as the binder was replaced with RAP. From the compressive strength result of the mortar subjected to RAP, it was found that the RAP was able to replace up to about 10% of unit binder weight although the compressive strength of mortar was decreased as the RAP replacement increased. From the above study, it can be concluded that the physical properties of RAP satisfied the quality standard of aggregate for replacement with fine aggregate. Moreover, in case of the RAP was replaced up to 10% of unit cement weight, it was able to be possible to improve fluidity and compressive strength of mortar.

The central objective of this study is to curtail the leakage of mortar or cement paste, often resultant of ill-constructed formwork, by implementing thixotropy in the formulation of high-fluidity, standard-strength concrete. When such concrete is utilized in smaller scale construction projects, instances of formwork gaps due to suboptimal construction precision may lead to significant leakage of mortar and paste, a problem not typically encountered with traditional slump-flow concrete. In this investigation, Polyvinyl Alcohol(PVA) and borax are incorporated into the concrete mixture to induce thixotropy. The experimental design includes varying methodologies for integrating PVA and borax, while assessing alterations in diverse concrete performances, including thixotropy and leakage reduction potential that simulates formwork gap conditions. Under the experimental conditions defined within this study, it was found that replacing, rather than merely adding PVA and borax, aids in averting water addition via suspensions. This approach yielded promising results in terms of concrete properties and proved efficacious in stemming leakage in concrete possessing sufficient thixotropy. Notably, when a 6% PVA suspension was substituted, a significant reduction in leakage was observed. Consequently, it is projected that construction quality can be ensured, even with lower precision formwork, by applying thixotropy to concrete through the use of PVA and borax.

The research performed a test concerning the fluidity and strength of concrete manufactured by combining lime stone power, fly ash, and blast furnace slag into two and three component systems, aiming at evaluating rheological and dynamic properties of concrete by manufacturing High Flowing Self-Compacting according to the strength changes of three levels. As a result of the research, for High Flowing Self-Compacting of 30 MPa, the combination of lime stone power 20% and fly ash 30% for securing quality and strength and adjusting viscosity satisfied the required performance. For High Flowing Self-Compacting of 50 MPa, the combination of blast furnace slag 10% and fly ash 20% satisfied the fluidity and strength of the requirement performance. Also, for 70 MPa that has many power contents, the combination of blast furnace slag 20% and fly ash 10% for the increase of fluidity and the reduction of viscosity satisfied the required performance. It is judged that fly ash in all combinations can be used to secure viscosity and reduce concrete amount. In addition, it is judged that for High Flowing Self-Compacting according to the levels of compressive strength the combination of three component system including fly ash is more appropriate than the combination of two component system.

This paper reports the contribution of Shrinkage reducing admixture(SRA) to the physical properties and drying shrinkage of concrete. Dosage of SRA is varied with. For the properties of fresh concrete, an increase in SRA dosage results in a decrease in fluidity and air content, while setting time is accelerated. For the properties of hardened concrete, the incorporation of mineral admixture leads to a decrease in compressive strength at early age, whereas after 28 days, the incorporation of fly ash(FA) and blast furnace slag(BS) has greater compressive strength than conventional concrete without admixture. The use of SRA results in a decrease in compressive strength. The incorporation of SRA with every $1\%$ increase causes the decrease of compressive strength by as much as $3\~6\%$. For drying shrinkage properties, the incorporation of FA and BS reduces drying shrinkage slightly. The use of SRA also decreases drying shrinkage. Every $1\%$ of increase in SRA dosage can reduce drying shrinkage by as much as $10\~15\%$
The purpose of this study was to compare rheological properties of six dental interocclusal recording materials and to investigate the effect of temperature on the rheological properties during setting. Five polyvinylsiloxane materials and one polyether material were investigated in this study. The storage modulus (G') and the loss factor ($tan{\delta}$) were measured from 30s after mixing during setting, using the universal dynamic spectrometer. Viscoelastic properties were evaluated by means of G' and $tan{\delta}$ from 5 repeats at $21^{\circ}C$ and $33^{\circ}C$. Individual changes during setting were also evaluated. All data were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and multiple comparison $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test at the significance level of 0.05. The mean of G was checked at $t_{set}$ (the setting time provided from manufacturer) and $t_{300}$ (the end of experimental time) and the mean of $tan{\delta}$ was checked at to and $t_{set}$. Whereas the increase of the G' value showed generally exponential changes at $21^{\circ}C$, the change of the G' value at $33^{\circ}C$ displayed sigmoidal curves during setting. The change of loss factor $tan{\delta}$ during setting varied. Within the limitations of this study, dental interocclusal recording materials had different viscoelastic properties and most of the materials showed different fluidity at $21^{\circ}C$ and $33^{\circ}C$.

This study investigates the engineering properties of concrete incorporating lime stone crushed fine aggregate(Ls), which has been abandoned about 20% of total production due to the low purity. Test results showed that increase of Ls had favorable fluidity and slightly decreased air content. Bleeding capacity of all specimens was not appeared as those were high strength mixture proportion, but the specimens using more Ls accelerated initial and final setting. For the mechanical properties, specimens incorporating higher ratio of Ls, overall, resulted in increase of compressive strength, and exhibited very small inclined tendency in a dynamic elasticity modulus test In addition, for the durability properties, specimens incorporating higher Ls dramatically decreased a drying shrinkage and showed similar tendency in a frost & thaw test, as well as showing no more change in an accelerated neutralization test from the beginning. In conclusion, as it was confirmed in the experimental test, the high strength concrete applying Ls did not showed any problems in the aspects of engineering properties and mostly exhibited even more excellent quality than the specimens using natural fine aggregate.
