차량용 연소식 난방기의 열 및 유동특성에 대한 수치연구 (Numerical Investigation on the Thermal and Flow Characteristics of Combustion Heater for Commercial Vehicle)

  • The diesel pre-heater has being used in cabin heating and coolant heating of engine to reduce the engine warm up time for commercial vehicle. The pre-heaters are classified as diesel spray combustor and it forms diffusion flame. By using swirler, a recirculation flow of hot product gases is established near the fuel nozzle and it helps the maintaining of diffusion flame. The design difference of swirler can affect on reaction characteristics and temperature distribution inside pre-heater. The purpose of this study is the investigation of the effect of swirler configuration on combustion characteristics. To solve spray combustion problem, the Euler-Lagrange approach discrete model is used to track droplet trajectory and evaporation history. The PDF equilibrium model is used for chemical reaction model. These models are implemented into the FLUENT code.

무창자돈사의 공기유동 특성 분석 (Analysis of Airflow Characteristics in an Enclosed Nursery Pig House)

  • Experiments were carried out to evaluate the air speed distribution of an enclosed nursery pig bay in summer and winter. The data taken by experiments were compared to validate with the calculated air speeds by a commercial CFD code, FLUENT. Air basically enters into the bay through perforated circular ducts overhanged on the ceiling, leaves through a exhaust fan attached on the end-wall of the bay. Air speeds were measured as 2 ${\sim}$ 2.5 mls at the perforated holes in the duct in winter and 7 mls in summer. The validation showed that a CFD simulaton is one of feasible methods to predict airspeed distribution in the nursery pig bay.

Surface Texturing에 의한 유압부품의 마찰저감 (Surface Texturing in Hydraulic Machine Components for Friction Reduction)

  • In hydraulic machinery, the hydraulic fluid acts primarily as working fluid and secondarily as a lubricant. Hence, the viscous friction force acting on the sliding components should be reduced to improve the mechanical efficiency. It is now well known that the surface texturing is a useful method for friction reduction. In this study, using a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT, the lubrication characteristics of a surface textured slider bearing under high boundary pressure difference is studied. The streamlines, velocity profiles, pressure distributions, load capacity, friction force and leakage flowrate are highly affected by the film thickness ratio and the textured region. Partial texturing at the inlet region of the inclined slider bearing can reduce both friction force and leakage flowrate than in the untextured case. The present results can be used to improve the lubrication characteristics of hydraulic machinery.

포탄의 꼬리날개가 기저항력에 미치는 영향에 대한 해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Effect of the Tail Wing of a Projectile on the Base Drag)

  • Recently, research on projectiles with wings for precision guidance is actively underway. In this study, we analyzed how the tail fins attached to the projectile affect the base drag. Aerodynamic analysis was performed with RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) equations using FLUENT, a commercial CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) code. Through the aerodynamic analysis, the base drag characteristics of the projectile by parameters (number, length, thickness, position, shape of tail fin) were investigated. The results of this study are expected to be applicable to aerodynamic design of tail fins mounted on projectiles.

드래프트 관 장착 나선형 교반장치의 작동 특성 연구 (A Study on the Operating Characteristics in a Helical Screw Agitator with a Draught Tube)

  • Because the mixing efficiency is influenced remarkably by varying the geometrical configurations, the study of flow characteristics inside the agitator is very important. The draught tube in the agitator makes intermixing between the screw and tube by interrupting radial flow, and the helical screw agitator with a draught tube (HSA) is proved more efficient to mix than the others. Consequently, the shapes of helical screw and number of pitches are the main parameters for improving the performance of HSA. In this study, numerical analyses were carried out, using a commercial CFD code, Fluent, to obtain the velocity and pressure distributions under steady, laminar flow and no-slip condition. Results are graphically depicted with various parameters.

Effect of Geometric Parameters in a Newly Designed Microchannel

  • In this study a microchannel with various arrangement of blocks is newly proposed. This design comprises periodically arranged simple blocks. In this configuration, the stirring is greatly enhanced at a certain geometric parameter set. To characterize the flow field and the stirring effect both the numerical and experimental methods were employed. To obtain the velocity field, three-dimensional numerical computation to the Navier Stokes equations are performed by using a commercial code, FLUENT 6.0. The fluid-flow solutions are then cast into studying the characteristics of stirring with the aid of Lyapunov exponent. The numerical results show that the particles' trajectories in the microchannel heavily depend on the block arrangement. It was shown that the stirring is significantly enhanced at larger block-height and it reaches maximum when the height is 0.8 times the channel width. We also studied the effect of the block stagger angle, and it turns out that the stirring performance is the best at the block angel ${45^\circ}$.

  • It is essential to know the heat transfer characteristics at the absorber plate of Flat-plate solar collector for optimum design. For flat-plate solar collector, it is difficult to experimentally study the effect for the Reynolds number of riser considering low mass flow rate being applied into the collector with one riser tube. So, this study were performed to show the heat transfer characteristics of flat-plate solar collector with single absorber plate and riser for various Reynolds number at riser using commercial code FLUENT 6.0. The base collector size is chosen with $0.4m^2$ as 0.2m by 2m with single riser in this study, Reynolds number at riser is from 200 to 1200 including about 530 at typical flat-plate collector with 10 risers considering the mass flow rate of 0.02kg/s per collector area for the certificate test Through the simulation, the results were presented as the temperature distribution at the absorber plate for various flow rate and solar irradiance conditions, then showed the effective length scale of the absorber plate The real solar irradiation condition is assumed as the constant heat flux condition of $500w/m^2$ considering the annual average solar irradiance in Korea.

NREL Phase VI 수평축 풍력터빈의 저주파 공력소음 해석에 관한 수치적 연구 (A Numerical Study on Analysis of Low Frequency Aero-acoustic Noise for a HAWT of NREL Phase VI)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 수평축 풍력터빈인 NREL Phase VI를 대상으로 ANSYS FLUENT에서 제공하는 LES와 FW-H 상사식을 이용하여 풍력발전기로부터 방사되는 저주파 공력소음을 수치적으로 예측하는 것이다. 풍력발전기 공력소음에 관한 어떠한 실험적 자료가 존재하지 않으므로, 먼저 정격풍속에서 토크와 출력 등의 공력성능 수치결과를 실험결과와 비교하여 소음원 예측의 타당성을 검증한 후, 풍속 변화에 따른 공력소음 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 수치성능결과는 약0.8%이내에서 실험결과와 잘 일치하였다. 풍속이 증가함에 따라 사극자와 이극자에 의한 총음압레벨은 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 또한 풍력터빈 허브중심으로부터 거리가 증가함에 따라 원방에서는 $r^{-1}$, 근방에서는 $r^{-2}$에 비례하여 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 거리가 두배 증가함에 따른 총음압레벨은 약 6dB 감소하였다.

  • 국내를 포함한 전 세계 50여개 원전의 발전사업자는 유동가속부식에 의한 탄소강 배관 감육을 관리하기 위하여 CHECWORKS 프로그램을 이용하고 있다. CHECWORKS 프로그램은 대구경 배관에만 적용 가능한 것으로 알려져 있기 때문에 소구경 배관에 대해서는 현장 배관감육 관리 담당자의 경험과 판단에 따라 배관을 관리하고 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 국내 원전 소구경 배관 4개 라인그룹에 대하여 CHECWORKS 프로그램과 FLUENT 코드를 이용하여 유동가속부식과 유동 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 현장 배관감육 관리 담당자의 기술력에 따라 CHEC- WORKS 프로그램도 소구경 배관 감육 관리에 이용할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

포물선형 월류파력발전장치에 대한 수치해석 (Computational Analysis of Parabolic Overtopping Wave Energy Convertor)

  • 월파형 파력발전장치는 월류된 파랑으로 인하여 발생한 수두차를 이용하여 터빈을 구동하는 일종의 파랑에너지 변환장치로써 파랑에너지를 전기 에너지로 변환하는 장치이다. 본 연구는 상용 CFD코드 인 Fluent를 사용하여 수치 조파수조를 구현하여 월파형 파력발전장치의 해석에 도입을 하여 입사파 조건과 형상에 대한 계산을 수행하였다. 최적의 월류성능을 나타내는 구조물 사면형상을 도출하기 위하여 직선형과 포물선형을 채택하여 비교분석을 수행한 결과 포물선형 사면경사를 갖는 구조물이 더 우수한 월류성능을 보인다는 것을 확인 하였다.
