Reliability analysis of soil slope reinforced by micro-pile considering spatial variability of soil strength parameters

  • In the traditional slope stability analysis, ignoring the spatial variability of slope soil will lead to inaccurate analysis. In this paper, the K-L series expansion method is adopted to simulate random field of soil strength parameters. Based on Random Limit Equilibrium Method (RLEM), the influence of variation coefficient and fluctuation range on reliability of soil slope supported by micro-pile is investigated. The results show that the fluctuation ranges and the variation coefficients significantly influence the failure probability of soil slope supported by micro-pile. With the increase of fluctuation range of soil strength parameters, the mean safety factor of the slope increases slightly. The failure probability of the soil slope increases with the increase of fluctuation range when the mean safety factor of the slope is greater than 1. The failure probability of the slope increases by nearly 8.5% when the fluctuation range is increased from δv=2 m to δv =8 m. With the increase of the variation coefficient of soil strength parameters, the mean safety factor of the slope decreases slightly, and the probability of failure of soil slope increases accordingly. The failure probability of the slope increases by nearly 31% when the variation coefficient increases from COVc=0.2, COVφ=0.05 to COVc=0.5, COVφ=0.2.

Physiological Signal Analyses for Designing Knitted Fabric Sound (편성물의 소리디자인을 위한 생리신호분석)

  • 본 연구는 경편성물의 특성에 영향을 미치는 중요한 구조변수인 조직, 편환의 계폐여부, 가이드바의 상호 움직임 방향에 따른 소리특성과 생리적 반응 사이의 관계를 파악함으로써 총합적 감성소재 설계를 위한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 직물소리발생장치를 이용하여 7가지의 경편성물에 대한 마찰음을 녹음한 후, 이를 마찰음이 유발하는 생리반응을 측정하여 slow alpha파, fast beta파, ECG R-R, RESP, HF/LF, SCL, PV등을 분석하였다. 조직에 따라서는 LPT, Loundness(Z), Roughness(Z)와 Fluctuation strength(Z) 가장 큰 Sharkskin에서 fast beta파, ECG R-R, RESP는 증가하였으며 slow alpha파, PV, HF/LF는 감소하였다. 편환의 개폐여부에서는 폐환보다는 개환에서 Loudness(Z), Sharpness(Z), Fluctuation strength(Z)가 증가하였으며 RESP는 증가하고 HF/LF는 감소하여 개환이 더 불쾌한 감성을 유발하였다. 가이드바의 상호 움직임 방향은 counter보다는 parallel에서 slow alpha의 변화량이 감소하고 fast beta의 변화량이 증가하여 counter보다는 parallel이 더 불쾌한 감성을 유발하는 것으로 보인다. 또한 편성물의 음향특성 중 ΔL, Δf 와 Roughness(Z), Fluctuation Strength(Z)가 생리반응을 예측하는 중요한 요인으로써 나타났다.

Analysis on the Characteristics of Pressure Fluctuation for High Speed Train passing through Tunnels (고속열차가 터널내에서 받는 압력변동 특성 분석)

  • In order to develop a high speed train, various conditions have been considered. Fatigue strength assessment by the fluctuation of pressure is an important one. In this study, the fluctuation and frequency of pressure is measured when KHST(Korean High Speed Train) passes through tunnels in the Kyung-Bu high-speed line. And the characteristics of pressure fluctuation is analysed and formulated. The results of analysis are as follows. The train entering speed and fluctuation value are related. The pressure increasing is generated in proportion to train velocity at leading car. When two train is passing through the tunnel, the pressure value is $1.5\~2$ times higher than one train is passing. The damping ratio of pressure fluctuation is about $92\%$. The number of pressure fluctuation in a tunnel is 4 to 6 times. The result in this study would be a good guidance to calculate the fatigue life and the reliability index of body structure.

  • In this paper, It is introduced new sound quality method, FI(Fluctuation Index) and the example applied Outdoors side Air-conditioner noise evaluation. Because FI is applied with very simple algebraic calculation algorithm, it can be applied some other application without spending high time and cost.

  • Generally, according to rising of atmospheric temperature, a consistency of concrete decreases, and a slump property of concrete is changed to be large. Also, in the strength development of concrete, the strength development rate of long-term age(28day) in comparison to strength of early age(7day) and the absolute compressive strength decreases. Accordingly, in this study, experiments about quality evaluation of concrete utilizing Ordinary Portland Cement is carried out. As a result of experiments, there were a conspicuous change in slump of concrete due to temperature increase. In conclusion, the rising of atmospheric temperature was very important factor in affecting the quality fluctuation of hot weather concrete.

Physiological Signal Analyses of Frictional Sound by Structural Parameters of Warp Knitted Fabrics

  • The purpose of this study is to offer acoustical database of warp knitted fabrics by investigating frictional sound properties and physiological responses according to structural parameters such as construction, lap form, and direction of mutual guide bar movement. Fabric sounds of seven warp knitted fabrics are recorded, and Zwicker's psychoacoustic param­eters - loudness(Z), sharpness(Z), roughness(Z), and fluctuation strength(Z) - are calculated. Also, physiological responses evoked by frictional sounds of warp knitted fabrics are measured such as electroencephalogram (EEG), the ratio of high fre­quency to low frequency (HF/LF), respiration rate (RESP), skin conductance level (SCL), and photoplethysmograph (PPG). In case of constructions, frictional sound of sharkskin having higher loudness(Z) and fluctuation strength(Z) increases RESP. By lap form, open lap has louder and larger fluctuating sound than closed lap, but there aren't significant difference of physi­ological responses between open lap and closed lap. In direction of mutual guide bar movement, parallel direction evokes bigger changes of beta wave than counter direction because of its loud, rough, and fluctuating sound. Fluctuation strength(Z) and roughness(Z) are defined as important factors for predicting physiological responses in construction and mutual guide bar movement, respectively.

Construction of a Radio map for WPS Resistant to Signal Strength Fluctuation (신호 세기 변동에 강인한 WPS용 라디오 맵 구축 기법)

  • WPS determines position via a two-step process. In the construction phase, a radio map is constituted by collecting radio information signals. Positioning procedure is a step of comparing the radio signal newly acquired with the radio map. If the signals collected and the radio map are different the accuracy decreases. Even though the rate of accuracy is different according to positioning algorithms, accuracy drop is an issue common to all WPS systems. Signal strength fluctuation is caused by the malfunction of the device that receives positioning signals, obstruction and channel interference, etc. In this paper, in order to solve the problem caused by signal strength change, we propose a new radio map construction technique. The proposed method is intended to constitute a strong radio map to changes in the signal strength and updated by collecting the signal strength changes to the radio map. The use of this method is expected to enhance the accuracy of WPS by actively counteracting signal fluctuation.

Analysis on the Fluctuation and Frequency of Pressure for Korean High Speed Train passing through Tunnels (한국형 고속전철 터널 주행시의 압력 변동 및 빈도의 분석)

  • In order to develop a high speed train, various conditions have been considered. Fatigue strength assessment by the fluctuation of pressure is an important one. In this study, a numerical simulation has been performed to estimate the fluctuation and frequency of pressure when KHST(Korean High Speed Train)passes through tunnels in the Kyung-Bu high-speed railway. The simulation was based on KHST running the Kyung-Bu high-speed line with the speed of 350km/h and the interval of 10 minute headway. And the tunnel entrance speed was estimated by TPS program. Therefore, the fluctuation and frequency of pressure is expressed in Weibull distribution function in the above running situation. The result in this study would be good guidance to calculate the fatigue life and the index of reliability of body structure. We are going to conduct more study to measure the real value of the pressure of the carbody passing through tunnels, to assess the fatigue reliability and to develop method & procedure for the fatigue reliability design.

An Improvement Method of Sound Quality of the High-speed Coastal Passenger Ship

  • The trends of recent passenger ships are becoming speedy and luxury style to enhance comfortableness in cabin. In order to meet these trend, ship designer has to improve the sound quality as well as to reduce the sound pressure level in cabins. In this paper, the trend of noise and sound quality of real high-speed coastal passenger ships are measured and analyzed, while running on their regular courses. The sound quality parameters such as loudness, roughness, fluctuation strength, and sharpness are evaluated by Zwicker loudness calculation. In addition, we try to find sensitive critical frequency band for the improving sound quality by using signal editing. Finally, the expected effective design methods are proposed to designer for the improving sound quality of passenger ships.

The Sound Quality Evaluation of High-speed Coastal Passenger Ships (고속 연안 여객선의 음질 평가)

  • Recently, it becomes to be very important to reduce the cabin noise of passenger ship, according to the trend of speedy and luxury ship. The noise reduction and control techniques should be considered as important factors from the viewpoint of the sound problem of cabin. Therefore, ship designer has to improve the sound quality as well as to redece the sound pressure level in cabins. In this paper, for the new approach of these problems, we tried to find the trends of noise and sound quality of high-speed coastal passenger ships. Loudness, roughness, fluctuation strength, and sharpness are selected as the parameters for the evaluation of sound quality. The parameters are calculated by using the sound measured in cabin while the ship is running. Furthermore we tried to find the trend of each parameter in cabins and compare with that of sound pressure level. As results, we find that the loudness is linearly proportional to sound pressure level. But, the other parameters show different trends which may be caused by ship motion on the wave and fluctuation of propelling power.
