In this paper, we first survey cross-layer architectures for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs). Afterwards, we propose a novel cross-layer architecture for QoS provisioning in clustered and multi-hop based WMSNs. The proposed architecture provides support for multiple network-based applications on a single sensor node. For supporting multiple applications on a single node, an area in memory is reserved where each application can store its network protocols settings. Furthermore, the proposed cross-layer architecture supports heterogeneous flows by classifying WMSN traffic into six traffic classes. The architecture incorporates a service differentiation module for QoS provisioning in WMSNs. The service differentiation module defines the forwarding behavior corresponding to each traffic class. The forwarding behavior is primarily determined by the priority of the traffic class, moreover the service differentiation module allocates bandwidth to each traffic class with goals to maximize network utilization and avoid starvation of low priority flows. The proposal incorporates the congestion detection and control algorithm. Upon detection of congestion, the congested node makes an estimate of the data rate that should be used by the node itself and its one-hop away upstream nodes. While estimating the data rate, the congested node considers the characteristics of different traffic classes along with their total bandwidth usage. The architecture uses a shared database to enable cross-layer interactions. Application's network protocol settings and the interaction with the shared database is done through a cross-layer optimization middleware.

The Coastal VTS will be continuously constructed to prevent marine traffic accidents in the coastal waters of the Republic of Korea. In order to provide the best traffic information service to the ship operator, it is important to understand the navigation risk factor. In this study, we analyzed the navigational hazards of Gunsan coastal area where the coastal VTS will be constructed until 2020. For this purpose, major traffic flows of merchant ships and density of vessels engaged in fishing were analyzed. This study was conducted by Automatic Identification System (AIS) and Vessel Pass (V-PASS) data. The grid intervals are 10 minute ${\times}$ 10 minute (latitude ${\times}$ longitude) based on the section of the sea. A total of 30 sections were analyzed by constructing a grid. As a result of the analysis, the major traffic flows of the merchant vessels in the coastal area of Gunsan were surveyed from north to south toward Incheon, Pyeongtaek, Daesan, Yeosu, Pusan and Ulsan, and from east to west in the port of Gunsan Port, 173-3, 173-6, 173-8, 183-2, 183-5, 183-8, 183-3, 184-1 and 184-2. As a result of the study, the fishing boats in Gunsan coastal area mainly operated in spring and autumn. On the other hand, the main traffic flow of merchant ships and the distribution of fishing vessels continue to overlap from March to June, so special attention should be paid to the control during this period.
In case of using image sequence taken from a moving camera along a road in an urban area, general video mosaicing technique based on a single baseline cannot create 2-D image mosaics. To solve the drawback, this paper proposed a new image mosaicing technique through 3-D multi-baselines that can create image mosaics in 3-D space. The core of the proposed method is that each image frame has a dependent baseline, an equation of first order, calculated by using ground control point (GCP) of optical flows. The proposed algorithm consists of 4 steps: calculation of optical flows using hierarchical strategy, calculation of camera exterior orientation, determination of multi-baselines, and seamless image mosaics. This paper realized and showed the proposed algorithm that can create efficient image mosaics in 3-D space from real image sequence.
The use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is becoming an increasingly popular means to model wind flows in and around buildings. The first published application of CFD to both indoor and outdoor building airflows was in the 1970's. Since then, CFD usage has expanded to include different aspects of building design. Wind tunnel testing (WTT) on buildings for wind loads goes back as far as 1908. Gustave Eiffel built a pair of wind tunnels in 1908 and 1912. Using these he published wind loads on an aircraft hangar in 1919 as cited in Hoerner (1965 - page 74). The second of these wind tunnels is still in use today for tests including building design ($Damljanovi{\acute{c}}$, 2012). The Empire State Building was tested in 1933 in smooth flow - see Baskaran (1993). The World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York City were wind tunnel tested in the mid-sixties for both wind loads, at Colorado State University (CSU) and the [US] National Physical Laboratory (NPL), as well as pedestrian level winds (PLW) at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) - Baskaran (1993). Since then, the understanding of the planetary boundary layer, recognition of the structures of turbulent wakes, instrumentation, methodologies and analysis have been continuously refined. There is a drive to replace WTT with computational methods, with the rationale that CFD is quicker, less expensive and gives more information and control to the architects. However, there is little information available to building owners and architects on the limitations of CFD for flows around buildings and communities. Hence building owners, developers, engineers and architects are not aware of the risks they incur by using CFD for different studies, traditionally conducted using wind tunnels. This paper will explain what needs to happen for CFD to replace wind tunnels. Ultimately, we anticipate the reader will come to the same conclusion that we have drawn: both WTT and CFD will continue to play important roles in building and infrastructure design. The most pressing challenge for the design and engineering community is to understand the strengths and limitations of each tool so that they can leverage and exploit the benefits that each offers while adhering to our moral and professional obligation to hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the variation of probability flood according to the flow regulation by multi-purpose dams (Soyang and Chungju) in the Han-river basin, Korea. SWAT-K (Soil and Water Assessment Tool-Korea) was used in order to generate regulated and unregulated daily streamflows upstream of Paldang dam. Simulated flow regulated by the Soyang and Chungju dams was calibrated by comparison with the observed inflow data at Paldang reservoir. Generally the ratio of flood flows to daily streamflows is known to decrease with drainage area in a watershed. Regulated and unregulated flood flows were obtained from the relationship between flood flows and daily streamflows. Extreme Type-I distribution was applied for flood frequency analysis and L-moment method was used for parameter estimation. This is a novel approach capable of understanding the variation in flood frequency with dam operation for the relatively large watershed scale, and this will helps improve the applicability of daily stream flow data for use in flood control as well as in water utilization.
Reservoir turbidity flows degrade the efficiency and sustainability of water supply system in many countries located in monsoon climate region. A decision support system called RTMMS aimed to assist reservoir operations was developed for the real time monitoring, modeling, and management of turbidity flows induced by flood runoffs in Daecheong reservoir. RTMMS consists of a real time data acquisition module that collects and stores field monitoring data, a data assimilation module that assists pre-processing of model input data, a two dimensional numerical model for the simulation of reservoir hydrodynamics and turbidity, and a post-processor that aids the analysis of simulation results and alternative management scenarios. RTMMS was calibrated using field data obtained during the flood season of 2004, and applied to real-time simulations of flood events occurred on July of 2006 for assessing its predictive capability. The system showed fairly satisfactory performance in reproducing the density flow regimes and fate of turbidity plumes in the reservoir with efficient computation time that is a vital requirement for a real time application. The configurations of RTMMS suggested in this study can be adopted in many reservoirs that have similar turbidity issues for better management of water supply utilities and downstream aquatic ecosystem.

The application of multiphase flows is increasingly being applied to analyze phenomena such as single phase flows where the fluid boundary changes continuously over time or the problem of mixing a liquid phase and a gas phase. In particular, multiphase flow models that take into account incompressible Newtonian fluids for liquid and gas are often applied to solve the problems of the free water surface such as wave fields. In general, multi-phase flow models require time-based the surface tracking of each fluid's phase boundary, which determines the accuracy of the final calculation of the model. This study evaluates the advection performance of representative VOF-type boundary tracking techniques applied to various CFD numerical codes. The effectiveness of the FCT method to control the numerical flux to minimize the numerical diffusion in the conventional VOF-type boundary tracking method and advection calculation was mainly evaluated. In addition, the possibility of tracking performance of free surface using CIP method (Yabe and Aoki, 1991) was also investigated. Numerical results show that the FCT-VOF method introducing an anti-diffusive flux to precent excessive diffusion is superior to other methods under the confined conditions in this study. The results from this study are expected to be used as an important basic data in selecting free surface tracking techniques applied to various numerical codes.

As the recent rapid development of internet technology and the wide spread of multimedia communication, massive increase of network traffic causes some problems such as the lack of network paths and the bad quality of service. To resolve these problems, this paper presents a traffic control agent that can perform the dynamic resource allocation by controlling traffic flows on a DiffServ network. In addition, this paper presents a router that can support DiffServ on Linux to support selective QoS in IP network environment. To implement a method for selective traffic transmission based on priority on a DiffServ router, this paper changes the queuing discipline in Linux, and presents the traffic control agent so that it can efficiently control routers, efficiently allocates network resources according to service requests, and relocate resources in response to state changes of the network. Particularly for the efficient processing of Assured Forwarding(AF) Per Hop Behavior(PHB), this paper proposes an ACWF$^2$Q$^{+}$ packet scheduler on a DiffServ router to enhance the throughput of packet transmission and the fairness of traffic services.s.

CFI(Control Flow Integrity) is a mitigation mechanism that protects programs by verifying control flows. IFCC(Indirect Function Call Checks) and SCS(Shadow Call Stack), CFI supported by LLVM Clang compiler, were introduced to protect applications in Android. IFCC protects function calls and SCS protects function returns. In this paper, we propose attacks to bypass CFI on the application environment with IFCC and SCS. Even if IFCC and SCS were applied to user applications, it was confirmed that there were many code segments not protected by IFCC and SCS in the application memory. We execute code in CFI unprotected segments to construct 1) bypassing IFCC to call a protected function, 2) modulating return address via SCS bypass. We identify code segments not protected by IFCC and SCS in Android10 QP1A. 191005.007.A3. We also implement proof-of-concept exploits to demonstrate that modulation of control flow is possible in an environment where IFCC and SCS are applied.

Train control systems have changed from wayside electricity-centric to onboard communications-centric. The latest train control system, the CBTC system, has high efficiency for interval control based on two-way radio communications between the onboard and wayside systems. However, since the wayside system is the center of control, the number of input trains to allow a wayside system is limited, and due to the cyclic-path control flows between onboard and wayside systems, headway improvement is limited. In this paper, we propose a train interval-control and train-centric distributed interlocking algorithm for an autonomous train-driving control system. Because an autonomous train-driving control system performs interval and branch control onboard, both tracks and switches are shared resources as well as semaphore elements. The proposed autonomous train-driving control performs train interval control via direct communication between trains or between trains and track-side apparatus, instead of relying on control commands from ground control systems. The proposed interlocking algorithm newly defines the semaphore scheme using a unique key for the shared resource, and a switch that is not accessed at the same time by the interlocking system within each train. The simulated results show the proposed autonomous train-driving control system improves interval control performance, and safe train control is possible with a simplified interlocking algorithm by comparing the proposed train-centric distributed interlocking algorithm and various types of interlock logic performed in existing interlocking systems.
