The main purpose of this study is to get flowrate coefficient 'q' and to study characteristics of flowrate of screw pump. This study is based on Muskin's formula and depends on the computer simulation. The results of study are as follows. 1. Flowrate coefficient will reduce according to increase of inclination. The larger the pitch ratio is and the smaller the diameter ratio is, the more coefficient reduces. 2. As a rule, the coefficient increases according to reduction of the diameter ratio, but the coefficient tends to reduce when the ratio is less than 0.45. So, in actual application, it is recommended that the ratio should be above 0.45. 3. If the pitch ratio increases, the coefficient increases in case of small inclination and decreases in case of large inclination. 4. The coefficient increases according to number of windings. Especially, singles winding is not used in actual application because it has too small coefficient. 5. The coefficient decreases when the influent water level falls. Flowrate is almost zero when the water level is below $40\%$ of Filling Points.

The objectives of this research were to evaluate the pressurized/the main inlet water flowrate ratio which have been used as the most important parameter for operating the pump diffusion mixer until now, to suggest the alternative operating parameter and the relating criteria if the flowrate ratio was not inadequate. For the objectives of this research, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation was conducted for 21 cases of flowrate ratio in full-scaled pump diffusion mixer. From the results of CFD simulation, the local velocity gradient values were calculated in each case in order to analyze the simulation results in more detail. For verifying CFD simulation, wet test was conducted. The wet test was to measure the factual coagulant dispersion distribution at a distance of 5.4m from deflector. From both results of CFD simulation and wet test, flowrate ratio was inadequate as operating parameter or criteria, on the other hand the pressurized/the main inlet velocity ratio(dimensionless) was useful in predicting the performance of pump diffusion mixer. Also, the injected coagulant could be dispersed evenly in overall cross section on the condition that pressurized/the main inlet velocity ratio(dimensionless) is over at least 20.
This study is performed to investigate heat transfer characteristics for thermal performance of fin-and-tube sensible heat exchangers under the low air flowrate according to fin geometry combination and coolant flowrate control. Fins and tubes of samples were separated between front row and rear row. Experiment results are plotted heat transfer rate of each row, heat transfer coefficient and sensible heat ratio against water flowrate control of each row. It is observed that thermal performance can be enhanced by fin geometry combination and water flowrate control of each row under the low air flowrate.

The lock-up position of the floating ring seal affects the leakage flowrate and the stability. And it is changed depending on the operating and geometry condition. In this paper, the leakage flowrate and stability with change of the height and length were investigated by theoretical analysis and experiment. The parameter of the height and length is expressed to the b and L. The decreasing of the b resulted in the increasing of equivalent whirl frequency ratio in the experimental result at the low speed and high pressure not such as theoretical analysis. As the L increased the leakage flowrate decreased and stiffness and direct damping coefficient increased in the experimental result. That was similar to the theoretical analysis.
In this paper, cycle performance analysis of R744($CO_2$) two-stage compression and one-stage expansion refrigeration system is presented to offer the basic design data for the operating parameters of the system. The operating parameters considered in this study include superheating degree, compressor efficiency, gas cooling pressure, mass flowrate ratio, outlet temperature of gas cooler and evaporating temperature in the carbon dioxide two-stage refrigeration cycle. The main results were summarized as follows : The cooling capacity of two-stage compression and one-stage expansion refrigeration system increases with the increasing superheating degree, compressor efficiency and gas cooling pressure, but decreases with the increasing mass flowrate ratio and evaporating temperature. The compression work of two-stage compression and one-stage expansion refrigeration system increases with the increasing superheating degree, outlet temperature of gas cooler, gas cooling pressure and evaporating temperature, but decreases with the increasing compressor efficiency and mass flowrate ratio. The COP of two-stage compression and one-stage expansion refrigeration system increases with the increasing compressor efficiency, but decreases with the increasing superheating degree, gas cooling pressure, mass flowrate ratio and evaporating temperature. Therefore, superheating degree, compressor efficiency, gas cooling pressure, mass flowrate ratio, outlet temperature of gas cooler and evaporating temperature of R744($CO_2$) two-stage compression and one-stage expansion refrigeration system have an effect on the cooling capacity, compressor work and COP of this system.

This paper is studied to find the optimum condition of double-inlet Sirocco fan installed in an indoor PAC for low noise operation by the Taguchi method. The goal of this study is to obtain the best combination of each control factor which results in a desired flowrate of Sirocco fan with minimum variability. In this study, the parameter design of the Taguchi method is adopted for robust design by the dynamic characteristic analysis using orthogonal arrays and S/N ratios. The flowrate measurements are conducted by using a multiple-nozzle-type fan tester according to the orthogonal array L9($3^4$). The results of this study can be summarized as follows ; (i) The optimum condition of control factor is a set of where A is an inner to outer diameter ratio($D_1/D_2$), B is a width to outer diameter ratio($L/D_2$), C is a blade attachment angle(${\theta}$) and D is a number of blade(Z), (ii) The flowrate under the optimum condition satisfies the equation $y=0.0384{\cdot}M$ where M is a signal factor, namely number of revolution. The flowrate performance improves about 7.3% more largely as compared with the current condition, which results in about 35RPM reduction of number of revolution for the target flowrate $18.5m^3/min$, and (iii) The sensitivity analysis shows that the major factors in contribution to flowrate performance are A, B, and D ; the percentage contributions of each control factor are 44.01%(Z), 26.77%($D_1/D_2$) and 20.42%($L/D_2$).

The effects of intake port eccentricity on the characteristics of in-cylinder swirl ratio in a 4-valve diesel engine having the two intake ports; one is a helical intake port and the other is a tangential intake port were investigated by using the ISM(impulse swirl meter) in steady flow test rig. Swirl ratio($R_s$) and mean flow coefficient($C_{f(mean)}$) with valve eccentricity ratio($N_y$) and axial distance(Z/B) were measured. As the results from this experiment, the characteristics of in-cylinder swirl ratio formed by a 4-valve cylinder head were largely affected by intake port eccentricity. There is a difference in the mass flowrate through the two intake ports, and the mass flowrate through the tangential intake port is 19% more than that of the helical intake port. Therefore, we could know that the effects of the mass flowrate ratio through each intake port besides intake port shape should be conidered.
The runoff from an urban catchment is increased because of the gravitation of the population towards cities. For this reason, water level increment in confluence area makes it impossible to drain internal water and thus produces flood out in upstream areas. In this study, flow variations of main channel are measured which is caused by combining storm sewer into main channel in small watershed. Depth increment in main stream is analyzed due to flowrate and slope in main channel and flowrate, slope is getting steeper, and also due to low flowrate in main stream and high flowrate in tributrary channel. For the degree of confluence, depth ratio decreases when the degree is getting small. As mentioned above, main factors influencing the depth ratio increment of confluence channel are in the order of the degree of confluence, and the flowrate of tributary channel and main channel.

This study treats the analysis of the performance and the design of plume abatement wet/dry cooling tower with dry type heat exchanger using a numerical method. A two-dimensional analysis is performed using the finite volume method for mechanical draft counterflow and crossflow tower. For a coupling problem between water and air system, a turbulent two phase flow is considered. Effectiveness-NTU method is used for modeling of the dry type heat exchanger. The parameter change simulations of the outer wall shape, the relative flowrate of air, and attachment of an air mixer are performed to examine the effect on plume abatement. It is found that if the relative air flowrate ratio and the adequate air mixer type are chosen well in addition to the ratio of water to air flowrate, the loss of the cooling capacity and the additional cost are reduced and the plume is abated.
The output performance characteristics for surveyed sites were analyzed, using developed model. It consists of two main parts, the deciding flow duration characteristic of river and performance prediction model to estimate the output characteristics of small hydropower plants. As a result, It was found that the flowrate concerning with 25% of time ratio on flow duration curve can be selected to design flowrate of small hydropower plants, and the output characteristics of small hydropower plants having overflow dam are different from large scale hydropower plants.
