The extraction of traffic information based on image processing is under broad research recently because the method based on image processing takes less cost and effort than the traditional method based on physical equipment. The main purpose of the algorithm based on image processing is to extract vehicles from an image correctly. Before the extraction, the algorithm needs the pre-processing such as background subtraction and binary image thresholding. During the pre-processing much noise is brought about because roadside tree and passengers in the sidewalk as well as vehicles are extracted as traffic flow. The noise undermines the overall accuracy of the algorithm. In this research, most of the noise could be removed by extracting the exact road area which does not include sidewalk or roadside tree. To extract the exact road area, traffic lanes in the image were used. Algorithm speed also increased. In addition, with the ratio between the sequential images, the problem caused by vehicles' shadow was minimized.

The present study is to investigate the propagation characteristics of the impulse waves discharged from the exit of the convergent and divergent pipes. An experiment is carried out using a shock tube with an open end and is compared to the computation of the axisymmetric, compressible, unsteady Euler equations, which are solved by the second-order total variation diminishing (TVD) scheme. For the computational work, several initial compression waves are assumed inside the pipe so that those are the same to the experimental ones of the shock tube. The results show that the peak pressures of the impulse waves discharged from the exit of convergent and divergent pipes decrease with an increase in the wavelength of the initial compression wave. All of the impulse waves have a strong directivity toward the pipe axis, regardless of the exit type of the pipe employed. The impulse waves discharged from the divergent pipe are stronger than those from the straight pipe, while the impulse waves of the convergent pipe are weaker than those from the straight pipe. It is found that the convergent pipe can play a role of a passive control to reduce the peak pressure of the impulse wave. The present computations represent the experimented impulse waves with a good accuracy.

The overall aim of this paper is to determine coupling loss factor of welding point between shell and cylinder using loss factor and structural loss factor. For this purpose, two kinds of loss factor were adopted. One is loss factor of each sub structure, another is structural loss factor based on the complex welded or assembled structure. Using these two parameters, it is possible to derive the coupling loss factor which represents characteristic condition of SEA theory. Coupling loss factor of conjunction in complex structure was expressed as power balance equation. The derived equation for a coupling loss factor has been simplified on the assumption of one way (uni-directional) power flow between multi-sub structures. Using these conditions, it is possible to find the equation of coupling loss factor expressed as above two loss factors. To check the effectiveness of above equation, this paper used two-stage application. The first approach was application between simple cylinder and shell. The next was adopted rotary compressor. Rotary compressor has three main conjunctions between shell and internal vibration part. This equation was applied to find out the optimum welding point with respect to reduce the noise propagation. It shows the effective tool to evaluate the coupling loss factor in complex structure.

When a ship propeller having wing type sections rotates at high speed underwater, local pressure on the blade decreases and various types of the cavitation inevitably occur where the local pressure falls below the vapor pressure. Fundamentally characteristics of the cavitation are determined by the shapes of the blade section and their operating conditions. Underwater noise radiated from a ship propeller is directly connected to the occurrence of the cavitation. In order to design low noise propeller, it is preferentially demanded to figure out key features: how the cavity is generated, developed and collapsed and how the effect of viscosity works in the process. In this study, we first perform inviscid analysis of the partial cavity generated on two dimensional hydrofoil. Secondly, viscous analysis using FLUENT with different turbulence and cavitation models are presented. Results from both approaches are also compared and estimated.
Our experience of neutron noise analysis in French-type 900 MWe pressurized water reactor (PWR) is presented. Neutron noise analysis is based on the technique of interpreting the signal fluctuations of ex-core detectors caused by core reactivity changes and neutron attenuation due to lateral core motion. It also provides advantages over deterministic dynamic-testing techniques because existing plant instrumentation can be utilized and normal operation of the plant is not disturbed. The data of this paper were obtained in the ULJIN unit 1 reactor during the start-up test period and the statistical descriptors, useful for our purpose, are power spectral density (PSD), coherence function (CF), and phase difference between detectors. It is found that core support barrel (CSB) motions induced by coolant flow forces and pressure pulsations in a reactor vessel were indentified around 8 Hz of frequency.
Digital twins between "BIM Digital Model-Physical Prototype Model" will be built for Noise Barrier tunnel(NBT) that meet the definition of N.G smart city facilities derived from previous studies to build a data flow that connects data at each stage of design, construction, and operation. In this process, BIM design automation tools are created and utilized, and consistent transmission of member and attribute data is performed by converting them into IFC format. Through this, the purpose is to improve the labor-intensive environment required from the design stage of the NBT and to consistently maintain the information required for subsequent production and construction. This includes achieving changes in the construction industry based on digital transformation by unifying various data formats used differently for each industry from design to operation. In addition, it demonstrates that information exchange in the maintenance and management stages is possible based on the data exchange of the established digital twin and aims to improve the existing labor-intensive environment and expand operability between digital and physical information. As suggested in previous studies, the implementation of digital twins in these N.G smart city facilities includes the possibility of building an environment that adds to the possibility of high value-added product platforms as well as the function of big data platforms targeting existing smart cities.
The conventional communication method using mud flow pressure waves has a speed of 1-2 bps, so it takes a long time to communicate, making real-time control impossible. Although the sound wave communication method for improving the communication speed by 10 times or more has been commercialized, its use is limited due to its high price and there are not many application cases. In this study, the simulator corresponding to the facility was developed to develop performance similar to the actual test results. For simulating sound wave communication through a drill pipe, we proposed a governing equation that can simulate friction damping by mud and developed a numerical analysis model. The attenuation factor was corrected by comparing it with the attenuation rate of sound wave energy at the drilling site. The developed numerical analysis model was applied to the QPSK modulation type communication algorithm to confirm the excellent performance of the communication error rate of 0.04% in the ground. This is the communication performance under the condition that noise has not been mixed yet, and in order to apply it, the technology of reproducing the actual noise signal for mixing by securing the field noise data was established.
In this paper, the effect of mass injection on the control of tip vortex cavitation was studied experimentally. A mass injection system for a 3D hydrofoil was designed to control the location of injection as well as the injection rate. A series of cavitation tests were carried out in a cavitation tunnel for different injection locations and rates. The cavitation behaviour was observed using a high-speed camera and the corresponding noise was measured using a hydrophone installed in the observation window. The results showed that the tip vortex cavitation was suppressed under certain conditions and the noise was reduced in some frequency bands. It was also found that there is a location where the effect of mass injection could be maximized and hence the noise reduction.

To reduce the chattering errors of reed switch sensors in the automatic remote measurement of water meter a reed switch sensor was analyzed and improved. The operation of reed switch sensors can be described as a mechanical contact switch by approximation of permanent magnet piece to generate an electrical pulse. The reed switch sensors are used mostly in measurement application to detect the rotational or translational displacement. To apply for water flow measurement devices, the reed switch sensors should keep high reliability. They are applied for the electronic digital type of water flow meters. The reed switch sensor is just mounted simply on the conventional mechanical type flow meter. A small magnet is attached on a pointer of the water meter counter rotor. Inside the reed sensor two steel leaf springs make mechanical contact and apart repeatedly as rotation of flow meter counter. The counting electrical contact pulses can be converted as the water flow amount. The MCU sends the digital flow rate data to the server using the wireless communication network. But the digital data is occurred difference or won by chattering noise. The reed switch sensor contains chattering error by it self at the force equivalent position. The vibrations such as passing vehicle near to the switch sensor installed location causes chattering. In order to reduce chattering error, most system uses just software methods, for example using filter algorithm and also statistical calibration methods. The chattering errors were reduced by changing leaf spring structure using mechanical characteristics.

In this paper, an empirical model of air bubble size to be applied to an air masker for reduction of underwater radiation noise is presented. The proposed model improves the divergence problem under the low-speed flow condition of the existing model derived using Rayleigh's jet instability model and simple continuity condition by introducing a jet flow velocity of air. The jet flow velocity of air is estimated using the bubble size where the liquid is quiescent. In a medium without flow, the size of the bubble is estimated by an empirical method where bubble formation regime is divided into a laminar-flow range, a transition range, and a turbulent-flow range based on the Reynolds number of the injected air. The proposed bubble size model is confirmed to be in good agreement with the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis result and the experimental results of the existing literature. Using the acoustic inversion method, the air bubble population is estimated from the insertion loss measured during the air injection experiment of the air- masker model in a large cavitation tunnel. The results of the experiments and the bubble size model are compared in the paper.
