The flow forming has been used to produce long thin walled tube parts, with the reduced fanning force and the enhanced mechanical and surface quality for a good finished part, compared with the fanned parts using other method. Therefore, flow fanning technique is used widely in industrial production. Spinning and flow fanning techniques are used frequently in automotive, aerial and defense industries. The main factors for the flow fanning machine design are motor power, bed rigidity, mandrel stiffness, spindle power, roller profile, etc. Especially, mandrel, spindle power and roller are important factors for flow fanning machine capacity. In this paper, three dimensional finite element method for analysis of one-roller backward flow fanning of a workpiece has been carried out to study effects of roller profile on fanning force. Applied roller profile have roller lead geometries of angle $20^{\circ},\;30^{\circ},\;40^{\circ}$, concave and convex. Axial and radial fanning forces on various roller profiles are obtained and compared with each analysis cases.
Debris flow is defined as water mixture flow with wide range of large size soil particles such as rock, gravel and sand. Localized heavy rain, derived from abnormal weather, results in the debris flow which generally occurs in summer, especially during and after rainy season and typhoon. This study focuses on the characteristics of impact force of the debris flow with different gravels and gravel mixtures by model experiment. Based on measured experiment results, it is found that the impact force derived by debris flow is mot proportional to the amount of dry material mixture, but depends on the particle size distribution of the debris flow.
To measure the flow velocity and direction in the near field of an unmanned underwater vehicle, an optical measurement unit containing an image sensor and a phosphor-integrated pillar that mimics the neuromasts of a fish was constructed. To analyze pillar movement, which changes with fluid flow, fluorescence image analysis was conducted. To analyze the flow velocity, mean force analysis, which could determine the relationship between the light intensity of a fluorescence image and an external force, and length-force analysis, which could determine the distance between the center points of two fluorescence images, were employed. Additionally, angle analysis that can determine the angles at which pixels of a digital image change was selected to analyze the direction of fluid flow. The flow velocity analysis results showed a high correlation of 0.977 between the external force and the light intensity of the fluorescence image, and in the case of direction analysis, omnidirectional movement could be analyzed. Through this study, we confirmed the effectiveness of optical flow sensors equipped with phosphor-integrated pillars.
Flood flow characteristics of the Han River (from Goan to Indo Bridge) are analyzed using 1-dimensional St. Venant equations. NETWORK, a finite difference model, is used to calculate each term (local acceleration term, convective acceleration term, pressure force term, gravity force term, and friction force term) of the momentum equation and to analyze the flow characteristics. By the result of the study, as the general characteristics of flow in a channel that acceleration terms are very small and the other three terms are much greater is presented, three terms(pressure force term, gravity force term, friction force term) are to be main terms which decide the characteristics of flow. Specially in this region the acceleration term is noted so large that it cannot be ignored according to the shape of hydrograph and the region.

The on-line detection of the chip flow is one of the most important technologies in com- pletly automatic operation of machine tool, such as FMS and Unmanned Factories. This problem has been studied by many researchers, however, it is not solved as yet. For the recognition of chip flow in this study, the dynamic cutting force components due to the chip breaking were measured by dynamometer of piezo-electric type, and the frequency components of cutting force were also analyzed. From the measured results, the effect of cutting conditions and tool geometry on the dynamic cutting force component and chip formation were investigated in addition to the relationships between frequency of chip breaking (fB) and side serrated crack (fC) of chip. As a result, the following conclusions were obtaianed. 1) The chip formations have a large effect on the dynamic cutting force components. When chip breaking takes place, the dynamic cutting force component greatly increases, and the peridoic components appear, which correspond to maximum peak- frequency. 2) The crater wear of tool has a good effect on the chip control causing the chiup to be formed as upward-curl shape. In this case, the dymamic cutting force component greatly increases also 3) fB and fC of chip are closely corelated, and fC of chips has a large effect on the change of the situation of chip flow and dynamic cutting force component. 4) Under wide cutting conditions, the limit value (1.0 kgf) of dynamic cutting force component exists between the broken and continuous chips. Accordingly, this value is suitable for recognition of chip flow in on-line control of the cutting process.

In this study, the SST k - ω turbulence model and the sliding mesh technology based on RANS method have been adopted to simulate the exciting force and hydrodynamic of a pump-jet propulsor in different oblique inflow angle (0°, 10°, 20°, 30°) and different advance ratio (J = 0.95, J = 1.18, J = 1.58).The fully structured grid and full channel model have been adopted to improved computational accuracy. The classical skewed marine propeller E779A with different advance ratio was carried out to verify the accuracy of the numerical simulation method. The grid independence was verified. The time-domain data of pump-jet propulsor exciting force including bearing force and fluctuating pressure in different working conditions was monitored, and then which was converted to frequency domain data by fast Fourier transform (FFT). The variation laws of bearing force and fluctuating pressure in different advance ratio and different oblique flow angle has been presented. The influence of the peak of pulsation pressure in different oblique flow angle and different advance ratio has been presented. The results show that the exciting force increases with the increase of the advance ratio, the closer which is to the rotor domain and the closer to the blades tip, the greater the variation of the pulsating pressure. At the same time, the exciting force decrease with the oblique flow angle increases. And the vertical and transverse forces will change more obviously, which is the main cause of the exciting force. In addition, the pressure distribution and the velocity distribution of rotor blades tip in different oblique flow angles has been investigated.
The effect of Lorentz force(Electromagnetic force) on the liquid metal flow has been investigated. The flow velocity has been calculated by treating the Lorentz force as a source term in the Navier-Stokes equation. The liquid metal flow in the rectangular duct of an electromagnetic pump was analyzed with the Lorentz force varied.

The linear compressor has lately attracted considerable attention because of its low power consumption and excellent efficiency. For an efficient design, it is necessary to develop an analytical model of the linear compressor. The effective flow and force areas are important parameters to describe the behavior of the linear compressor, which are used to determine the mass flow rates through the valving systems and the forces on the valves, respectively. It is not easy to estimate these parameters because shapes of the valve systems of the linear compressor are so different from those of tile conventional valve systems. In this paper, we suggest method to measure experimentally the effective discharge flow and force areas of the linear compressor and analyze valve characteristic to apply the experimental results to their theoretical model.

The present study numerically investigates two-dimensional laminar flow past a circular cylinder in an aligned magnetic field using the spectral method. Numerical simulations are performed for flow fields with Re=100 and 200 in the range of 0$\leq$N$\leq$10, where Ν is the Stuart number that is the ratio of electromagnetic force to inertial force. The present study reports the detailed information of flow quantities on the cylinder surface at different Stuart numbers. It is shown that the vortex shedding can be controlled by the magnetic force representing the Stuart number. As Ν increases, the vortex shedding becomes weaker, resulting in drag reduction whose magnitude is the largest at a critical value. In addition, as the magnetic force increases, the lift amplitude decreases, reaching zero at the critical number.

The flow velocity has been calculated by treating the Lorentz force as a source term in the Navier-Stokes equation.
