This study was conducted for obtaining the optimized data to build the mixer or micro fluid device as measuring the three dimensions flow field in micro mixer. To acquire the rapid diffusion on the region of low Reynolds (Re < 100), the staggered herringbone mixer using chaotic advection was selected in this case. At first, by conducting the numerical analytical virtual experiment using CFD-ACE+, three dimensions flow field in the micro mixer was estimated As this flow field was proven using defocusing particle tracing method, the behavior of micro flow with three dimensional aspects could be analyzed. Numerical analysis and flow pattern in the micro mixer by experimental verification made to be able to analyze the chaotic advection. These can be important sources for building more optimized form. Verifying the information of three dimensional flow structure, these information can be used as the data for developing and improving the $\mu$ -TAS.
A flow-meter and its measurement controller was developed for a hydraulic system. This study, for development of positive displacement flow-meter, consist of PIC(Peripheral Interface Controller) controller with MR(Magneto-resistive) sensors. This flow-meter is used valve position indicator for valve control system by hydraulic. The MR sensors are used for the rotation of OVAL gear that detecting device. In the ship environments, consideration that necessary explosive proof. Thus electro device or electro flow-meter needs explosion design for electric circuit. We designed noncontact type flow-meter and evaluated the safety and measuring abilities.
The objective of the present study is to develop a new device that the viscous characteristics of fluids are determined by applying the unsteady flow concept to the traditional capillary tube viscometer. The capillary tube viscometer consists of a small cylindrical reservoir, capillary tube, a load celt system oat measures the mass flow rate, interfacers, and computer. Due to the small size of the reservoir the height of liquid in the reservoir decreases as soon as the liquid in the reservoir drains out through the capillary and the mass flow rate in the capillary decreases as the hydrostatic pressure in the reservoir decreases resulting in a decrease of the shear rate in the capillary tube. The instantaneous shear rate and. driving force in the capillary tube are determined by measuring the mass flow rate through the capillary, and the fluid viscosity is determined from the measured flow rate and the driving force.
The phenomena of drag reduction using small quantities of a liner macromolecules has attracted the attention of many experimental investigations. On the other hand drag reduction in two phase flow can be applied to the transport of crude oil, phase change system such as chemical reactor, pool and boiling flow, and to flow with cavitation which occurs pump impellers. But the research on dragreduction in two phase flow is not sufficient. The purpose of the present work is to evaluate the drag reduction by measuring pressure drop, void fraction, mean liquid velocity and turbulent intensity whether polymer additives a horizontal single and two phase system or not. Flow pattern of air-water two phase flow was classified by electrical conductivity probe signal. Velocities and turbulent intensities of signal were measured simultaneously with a Hot-film anemometer.
Positron emission tomography (PET) serves as a gold standard for noninvasive in vivo measurement of myocardial blood flow (MBF) and coronary flow reserve (CFR). CFR can be defined as the ratio of maximally vasodilated MBF over its basal flow. It is an important parameter for the evaluation of functional severity of coronary stenosis and prognositification in various diseases such as dilated cardiomyopathy. $^{13}NH_3,\;H_2^{15}O,\;^{82}Rb$ are widely used radiopharmaceuticals for measuring MBF and CFR, This review introduces imaging techniques and its clinical utility. Cardiac application or PET and PET/CT is expected to be increased in near future.

The hydrodynamic interference between two circular cylinders in tandem and side by side arrangements was investigated by measuring of lift and drag on each cylinder. The time variations of interference lift and drag coefficients in each arrangement were observed at center-to-center pitch ratios of P/D=1.25 and 2.5 and Reynolds number of $Re=1.5\times10^4$. Average interference lift and drag coefficients were also observed at pitch ratios from P/D=1.25 to 2.5 and Reynolds number from $Re=1.5\times10^4$ to $1.5\times10^4$. The hydrodynamic interference between two circular cylinders differed with the shape of the arrangement and the pitch ratio, but the characteristics were revealed by measuring of lift and drag on each cylinder.
Titration method is one of the widely used methods for the concentration measurement of absorbent ammonia/water. However, this method is inconvenient because the solution should be extracted for the measurement. Moreover, significant error can be introduced by the evaporation of ammonia during the sampling and measuring procedure. In this study a reliable in-line concentration measurement method was proposed. To prove the validity of the concept, a measuring apparatus was designed, built, and tested with water. It is found that the location of flow inlet and exit is important in the measurement accuracy. The flow inlet and exit located in the middle of the test cell showed the best result. By the error analysis, it is expected that the ammonia concentration can be measured within the error of $\pm$0.18% assuming the error of 0.1 K in temperature measurement and 0.1 g in weight measurement.
Discontinuous, polycrystalline $Al_2O_3$-dispersed TZP fibers were prepared by the centrifugal spinning of a colloidal $ZrO_2$ sol containing Y and Al nitrates and poly(vinyl alcohol). Factors affecting the rheological properties of the sols, such as sol concentrations, aging, and the amounts and types of additives, were investigated by measuring the shear viscosities. The flow characteristics of the sols were studied in relation to the spinnability by measuring the viscosity with respect to the shear rate. The spinnability was obtained through the addition of a polymer which increases the viscosity to a range of optimum viscosity values for spinning. Aging the sols containing the additives did not noticeably change the sol viscosities at room temperature up to 30 days. The flow behavior of the spinnable sols progressively changed from nearly Newtonian to pseudoplastic with an increase in the sol concentration.
In this study, it is first intended to simulate the vertical profile of atmospheric flow in a short wind tunnel. In order to accomplish it, proper devices are designed properly to reduce freestream flow momentum and it is confirmed from the measured velocity profile using hot-wire anemometer that momentum flux of the tunnel free stream can be reduced and desired atmospheric boundary can be created. Second, experiments are performed to identify influences of a surrounding structure measuring correct wind velocity by an anemometer, which are located nearby due to area limitation in actual airport and correction factors are proposed from experimental results. One of findings is that in order to limit the velocity attenuation due to a nearby structure under 10%, wind velocity measuring equipment should be installed at least 6 times of the structure height away from the structure of concern.
We investigated gas residence time and mixing characteristics due to various swirl numbers generated by normal injection of secondary air to a lab-scale cylinderical combustor. The residence time was estimated by measuring the temporal pressure difference which was caused by deposition of test particles on a filter media after the injection by a syringe. The mixing characteristics were evaluated by standard deviation value of test gas concentration at different measuring points. The test gas concentration was detected by a gas analyzer. The swirl number of $20{\sim}30$ for ${\theta}=5^{\circ}$ caused long residence time enough to improve mixing characteristics. Numerical calculations were also carried out to understand physical meanings of the experimental results.
