  • The present study investigated the effects of non-equilibrium condensation with the angle of attack on the coefficients of pressure, lift, and drag in the transonic 2-D flow of NACA0012 by numerical analysis of the total variation diminishing (TVD) scheme. At $T_0=298k$ and ${\alpha}=3^{\circ}$, the lift coefficients for $M_{\infty}=0.78$ and 0.81 decreased monotonically with increasing ${\Phi}_0$. In contrast, for $M_{\infty}$ corresponding to the Mach number of the force break, $C_L$ increased with ${\Phi}_0$. For ${\alpha}=3^{\circ}$ and ${\Phi}_0=0%$, $C_D$ increased markedly as $M_{\infty}$ increased. However, at ${\Phi}_0=60%$ and ${\alpha}=3^{\circ}$, which corresponded to the case of the condensation having a large influence, $C_D$ increased slightly as $M_{\infty}$ increased. The decrease in profile drag by non-equilibrium condensation grew as the angle of attack and stagnation relative humidity increased for the same free stream transonic Mach number. At ${\Phi}_0=0%$, the coefficient of the wave drag increased with the attack angle and free stream Mach number. When ${\Phi}_0$ > 50%, the coefficient of the wave drag decreased as ${\alpha}$ and $M_{\infty}$ increased. Lowering ${\Phi}_0$ and increasing $M_{\infty}$ increased the maximum Mach number.

  • Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger (BPHE) is a type of compact plate heat exchanger with parallel corrugated plates which are brazed together in series. Each plate hascorrugation called herringbone pattern. Inside a BPHE, hot fluid and cold fluid alternate its flow direction to establish counter current flow configuration. Two-phase flow heat transfer and pressure drop of R-22 in BPHE were experimentally measured in this study. In the present experiments, single-phase region and two-phase region coexist in a BPHE. Therefore, the inside of a BPHE have to be divided into single phase region and two phase region and analyzed accordingly. The results from the single phase flow analysis are then extended to the two phase flow analysis to correlate the condensation and evaporation heat transfer and pressure drop for the refrigerant R-22 in the BPHEs. Previous models for two- phase friction factor have been compared with the present experimental results.

  • Pannier-arrangement condensers are usually adopted in the turbine generator units of combined cycle power plants. Optimization of operating performance and economy is an important goal, which requires accurate understanding of flow and heat transfer effects in the condenser. The tube bundle arrangement and steam flow behaviors of pannier-arrangement condensers are very different from those of common condensers. The physical model for existing numerical simulation program of condenser is refined by constructing the correlations for flow resistance and condensation heat exchange coefficient in which the influences of steam flow direction are considered according to available experimental data. The adaptability of the developed physical model and simulation program of pannier-arrangement condenser is verified with available experimental data.

  • This study was conducted the slurry pig manure treatment by condensation drying of liquid from the slurry manure with a heat-pump and electric heater combined with air flow channel system. The system was designed as liquid and solid matters separation of slurry manure, and it can doing continuous input of slurry manure from a pig house, and it can operated year round use for pig farms. The separation of liquid and solid matters from slurry manure needed the prevention of solid accumulation in the system. The system was designed as closed space from outside air space for maximized evaporation of liquid and the condensation of liquid from slurry manure. The system can be operated the pig slurry manure treatment regardless of seasons in a yew. The separated evaporation water from the pig slurry manure by the heat-pump was satisfactorily pure water that can be used as washing water in livestock farms. The system can applicate to about 100 heads of pig, and the proper area of evaporation plate system was considered around $10\;m^2$. The input electrical energy of about 15 kWh which the cost equal to 250,000 won per month.

  • Purpose: Under the purpose of presenting the adequate remodeling period for the improvement of thermal insulation performance of external walls in deteriorated buildings, the change in external wall and residential environment problem(dew condensation) due to aged deterioration after the apartments were constructed in Korea were analyzed. Method: Temperature Difference Ratio Outside(TDRo) and Heat Flow Meter(HFM) were used as measurement methods to evaluate the thermal insulation performance of deteriorated buildings. For TDR evaluation, thermo-graphic camera was used to measure and analyze the surface temperature of external wall. Also, dew condensation evaluation was analyzed using the Temperature Difference Ratio Inside(TDRi). Result: As a result of analyzing thermal performance through TDRo, the first decline point of thermal insulation performance began after 14-16 years have passed since construction was completed, and after 20 years have passed the decline point of thermal insulation performance reappeared. As a result of analyzing U-value with HFM measurement method, the decline rate of external wall's thermal insulation performance is lower than 2% in average at around 5 years after completion, and 8.7% in average at 10-15 years, and over 10.2% in average at 20 years.
