국내 홍수빈도해석 지침서 제공을 위한 기초 연구로서 미국 홍수빈도해석 지침서인 Bulletin 17B과 같이 국내 적합한 홍수빈도해석 기법을 제시하고자 하였다. 홍수빈도해석 지침서의 핵심은 확률분포형과 매개변수 추정법을 제시하는 것이며 이에 GEV(Generalized Extreme Value), GLO(Generalized Logistic) 분포, B-GLS(Bayesian Generalized Least Square) 기법을 대상으로 다양한 연구를 수행하였다. Bayesian-GLS(B-GLS) 적용 결과를 OLS(Ordinary Least Square) 및 B-GLS 기법에서 지점간의 상관관계를 고려하지 않는 Bayesian-WLS(Weighted Least Square)와 비교 평가하여 그 우수성을 입증하였다.

Phenomena of hydraulic transient such as water hammer should be analyzed to design the pipeline systems effectively in dam. Surge tanks generally are used to reduce change in pressure caused by hydraulic transient from load changes on the turbines. In this study, the appropriate scale of surge tank with chamber is investigated for dam safety management. The variation of water level in the surge tank are computed using governing equation. Using the Thoma-Jaeger's stability condition, static and dynamic stability are investigate for the cases of flood water level, normal high water level, rated water level and low water level. Finally appropriate diameters of shaft and chamber are determined in the surge tank with chamber.
It is essential for port planning, coastal zone management and environmental impact study to analyze the variation of current and water quality due to the development of water area and discharged water from estuary barrage and basin etc. Mokpo sea area downstreams from a long river and two large basins, the Yongsan river and Yongam-Kumho basins discharging much of water through water gates for the purpose of flood control and prohibition of salt intrusion to the inland fresh water area. In this study, the numerical calculations were carried out for the analysis of diffusion characteristics due to discharging operation, adapting the results of tidal current simulation ADI methord is applied to the governing equation for the movement of sea water and diffusion and 6-point method to the advection terms of diffusion equation. As the results of this study, it is known that the discharging operation causes increasing and/or decreasing of current velocity and enlarging and/or depressing of pollutant diffusion limits depending on the distance from the discharging gates and the mode of discharging operation. To utilize these result, the linked gate operation and the method increasing exchange of sea water must be considered.

Derivatio of reasonable design floods was attempted by comparative analysis of design floods derived by Generalized Extreme Value(GEV) distribution using methods of L-moments and LH-moments for the annual maximum series at ten watersheds along Han, Nagdong. Geum, Yeongsan and Seomjin river systems, LH-coefficient of variation, LH-skewness and Lh-kurtosis were calcualted by KH-moment ration respectively. Paramenters were estimated by the Method of LH-Moments, Design floods obtained by Method of LH-Moments using different methods for plotting positionsi n GEV distribution and design floods were compared with those obtained using the Method of L-Moments by the Relative Mean Errors(RME) and Relative Absolute Errors(RAE). The results was found that design floods derived by the method of L-Moments and LH-Moments using Cunnane plotting position formula in the GEV distribution are much closer to those of the observed data in comparison with those obtained by methods of L-moments and LH-moments using the other formula for plotting positions from the viewpoint of Relative Mean Errors and Relative Absolute Errors. In viewpoint of the fact that hydrqulic structures including dams and levees are genrally using design floods with the return period of two hundred years or so, design floods derived by LH-Moments are seemed to be more reasonable than those of L-Moments in the GEV distribution.

All over the world, the existing process of water purification needs more flocculants and chlorine due to a gradual decline in the quality of source water. Therefore, the problem of the remaining aluminium and DBPs in purified water is on the rise. To solve this problem, the process of membrane filter has recently come into the spotight. This study reaches the following conclusions concerning TMP variation in order to solve the dropping of flux throgh a membrane filter when operating a membrane filter system in the process of water purification. 1. In case that a cohesion-precipitation process was introduced to pre-treatment of a membrane filter, initial TMP was very satisfactory(0.27kg/cm) in producing the constantly safe quality of water, $0.04{\sim}0.1$(mean 0.05) NTU by pouring 2mg/l of PACI(10% $Al_2O_3$) used for the existing process of water purification in high-density turbidity at a dry or flood season and at occurrence of high algae. 2. As flux increased at 0.5m/day.m, TMP increased 0.05 kgf/cm. 3. As filtering, operation mode of PVDF MF membrane filtering was 48 minutes and 1 cycle of back washing was 42 minutes, flux was increased 1.5m/day.m and TMP increased $0.25{\sim}0.27kgf/cm$. Without back washing, TMP increased 0.03 kgf/cm per a cycle.
To operate scientifical and integrated management of water resources, it needs to identify clearly the quantitative variation and moving pathway of water resources in a basin. Moreover, it needs to also estimate more precisely the amount of runoff generating from the precipitation. Thus, in this study, to carry out more reliable hydrologic analyses, the runoff characteristics according to detailed runoff components and water balance in a basin are analyzed. As a result of yearly water balance analyses, during the period of drought year, the loss is bigger than that of 6-year mean loss and the return flow of groundwater is the most dominant component of runoff. During the period of flood year, the loss is smaller about 4% than that of 6-year mean loss and the subsurface water is the most dominant component of runoff. The loss due to the interception and evapotranspiration for 6-year mean loss is about 53% of the total rainfall, the mean runoff ratio is about 27% and the baseflow is about 22%.

The temporal and spatial relationship of the weather elements such as rainfall and temperature is closely linked to the streamflow simulation, especially, to the flood forecasting problems. For the study area, Imjin river basin, which has the specific characteristics in geography with river cross operation between North and South Korea, the meteorological information in the northern area is totally deficiency, lead to the inaccuracy of streamflow estimation. In the paper, this problem is solved by using the combination of global (such as soil moisture content, land use) and local hydrologic components data such as weather data (precipitation, evapotranspiration, humidity, etc.) for the model-driven runoff (surface flow, lateral flow and groundwater flow) data in each subbasin. To compute the streamflow in Imjin river basin, this study is applied the hydrologic model SURR (Sejong Univ. Rainfall-Runoff) which is the continuous rainfall-runoff model used physical foundations, originally based on Storage Function Model (SFM) to simulate the intercourse of the soil properties, weather factors and flow value. The result indicates the spatial variation in the runoff response of the different subbasins influenced by the input data. The dependancy of runoff simulation accuracy depending on the qualities of input data and model parameters is suggested in this study. The southern region with the dense of gauges and the adequate data shows the good results of the simulated discharge. Eventually, the application of SURR model in Imjin riverbasin gives the accurate consequence in simulation, and become the subsequent runoff for prediction in the future process.
An integrated water quality management of reservoir and river would be required when the quality of downstream river water is affected by the discharge of upstream dam. In particular, for the control of downstream turbidity during flood events, the integrated modeling of reservoir and river is effective approach. This work was aimed to develop a laterally-averaged two-dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality model (CE-QUAL-W2), by which water quality can be predicted in the downstream of Yongdam dam in conjunction with the reservoir model, and to validate the model under two different hydrological conditions; wet year (2005) and drought year (2010). The model results clearly showed that the simulated data regarding water elevation and suspended solid (SS) concentration are well corresponded with the measured data. In addition, the variation of SS concentration as a function of time was effectively simulated along the river stations with the developed model. Consequently, the developed model can be effectively applied for the integrated water quality management of Yongdam dam and downstream river.
In coastal region, estuaries have complex environments where dissolved and particulate matters are mixed with marine water and substances. Suspended sediment (SS) dynamics in coastal water, in particular, plays a major role in erosion/deposition processes, biomass primary production and the transport of nutrients, micropollutants, heavy metals, etc. Temporal variation in suspended sediment concentration (SSC) can be used to explain erosion/sedimentation patterns within coastal zones. Remotely sensed data can be an efficient tool for mapping SS in coastal waters. In this study, we analyzed the variation in SSC in coastal water using the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) and Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) in Gyeonggi-bay. Daily variations in GOCI-derived SSC showed low values during ebb time. Current velocity and water level at 9 and 10 am is 37.6, 28.65 $cm{\cdot}s^{-1}$ and -1.23, -0.61 m respectively. Water level has increased to 1.18 m at flood time. In other words, strong current velocity and increased water level affected high SSC value before flood time but SSC decreased after flood time. Also, we compared seasonal SSC with the river discharge from the Han River and the Imjin River. In summer season, river discharge showed high amount, when SSC had high value near the inland. At this time SSC in open sea had low value. In contrast, river discharge amount from inland showed low value in winter season and, consequently, SSC in the open sea had high value because of northwest monsoon.
