Recently, mega-float offshore structure is studied as one of the effective utilization of the ocean space. And mega-float structure are now being considered for various applications such as floating airports, container yard, offshore cities and so on. This mega-float structure is relatively flexible compared with real floating structures like large ships. when we estimate dynamic responses of these structures in waves, the elastic deformation is important, because vertical dimension is small compared with horizontal. The analysis of the dynamic response as it receives regular wave is studied. The finite element method is used in the analysis of structural section of this model. And the analysis is carried out using the boundary element method int eh fluid division. In order to know the characteristics of the dynamic response of the mega-float structures, effects of wavelength, water depth, and wave direction on dynamic response of the floating structure are studied by use of numerical calculation.

The main objective of this study was to establish design guidelines for three key design variables (spar thickness, spar diameter, and total draft) by examining their impact on the stress distribution and resonant frequency of a 2.5-MW spar-type floating offshore wind turbine substructure under extreme marine conditions, such as during Typhoon Bolaven. The current findings revealed that the substructure experienced maximum stress at wave frequencies of either 0.199 Hz or 0.294 Hz, consistent with previously reported experimental findings. These results indicated that the novel simulation method proposed in this study, which simultaneously combines hydrodynamic diffraction analysis, computational dynamics analysis, and structural analysis, was successfully validated. It also demonstrated that our proposed simulation method precisely quantified the stress distribution of the substructure. The novel findings, which reveal that the maximum stress of the substructure increases with an increase in total draft and a decrease in spar thickness and spar diameter, offer valuable insights for optimizing the design of spar-type floating offshore wind turbine substructures operating in various harsh marine environments.

Marinas are often located in prime port side locations. hi Korea these locations are already developed and reclamation of the existing properties poses many difficulties and financial overhead. Also, to develop a standard marina in Korea with tide ranges up to 6 meters would require considerable dredging and reclamation works needing long lead times and large SOC costs. The Ocean Space's floating marina system is an independent offshore floating static level system that does not require fixed location breakwaters. The entire marina floats with the tide giving a calm consistent berthing condition for vessels irrespective of the surrounding tide and weather conditions. The floating marina system provides also for all of functions needed to marina comprising a breakwater to protect the vessels, the pontoon system to house the vessels, a dub house and retail tourism precinct, fuel reservoir and associated support facilities in a turn key self contained unit. The modular nature of the system will mean that initial demand can be met with simple units and then further modules can be added quite easily without the related expansion difficulties or infrastructure. This paper contains the main characteristics of the floating marina system and tire design process of the structure. The mooring, motion & stability analysis, the overall & local structural design and the mooring & anchor system design are introduced in this paper.
In this paper, safety analysis of the process of installing offshore structures such as manifolds and jacket-type substructures using floating cranes and barges in waves is performed. The safety analysis consists of three components. First, the dynamic responses of the offshore structure, cranes, and barge, all of which are moored and connected using wire ropes, are analyzed. Second, tensions in the wire ropes connecting the cranes and the offshore structures are calculated. Finally, any collision between the offshore structure and the cranes or the barge that transports the offshore structure is detected. Equations of motion of the offshore structure, cranes, and barge are formulated based on multibody dynamics, as well as considering the hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, and mooring forces. Additionally, proportional-derivative control of the tagline between the cranes and the offshore structure is performed to verify the safety of the installation process, as well as for reducing the dynamic response and collisions among them.
Hydrodynamic analyses of classic and truss spar platforms for floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) were performed in the frequency domain, by considering coupling effects of the structure and its mooring system. Based on the Morison equation and Diffraction theory, different wave loads over various frequency ranges and underlying hydrodynamic equations were calculated. Then, Response Amplitude Operators (RAOs) of 6 DOF motions were obtained through the coupled hydrodynamic frequency domain analysis of classic and truss spar-type FOWTs. Truss spar platform had better heave motion performance and less weight than classic spar, while the hydrostatic stability did not show much difference between the two spar platforms.

A semi-analytical numerical approach for the effective structural dynamic response analysis of spar floating substructure for offshore wind turbine subject to wave-induced excitation is introduced in this paper. The wave-induced rigid body motions at the center of mass are analytically solved using the dynamic equations of rigid ship motion. After that, the flexible structural dynamic responses of spar floating substructure for offshore wind turbine are numerically analyzed by letting the analytically derived rigid body motions be the external dynamic loading. Restricted to one-dimensional sinusoidal wave excitation at sea state 3, pitch and heave motions are considered. Through the numerical experiments, the time responses of heave and pitch motions are solved and the wave-induced dynamic displacement and effective stress of flexible floating substructure are investigated. The hydrodynamic interaction between wave and structure is modeled by means of added mass and wave damping, and its modeling accuracy is verified from the comparison of natural frequencies obtained by experiment with a 1/100 scale model.
To maximize power generation and reduce the construction cost of a commercial utility-grade wind turbine, the size of the wind turbine should be large. The initial design of the 12 MW University of Ulsan(UOU) Floating Offshore Wind Turbine(FOWT) was carried out based on the 5 MW National Renewable Energy Laboratory(NREL) offshore wind turbine model. The existing 5 MW NREL offshore wind turbines have been expanded to 12 MW UOU FOWT using the geometric law of similarity and then redesigned for each factor. The resonance of the tower is the most important dynamic responses of a wind turbine, and it should be designed by avoiding resonance due to cyclic load during turbine operations. The natural frequency of the tower needs to avoid being within the frequency range corresponding to the rotational speed of the blades, 1P, and the blade passing frequency, 3P. To avoid resonance, vibration can be reduced by modifying the stiffness or mass. The direct expansion of the 5 MW wind turbine support structure caused a resonance problem with the tower of the 12 MW FOWT and the tower length and diameter was adjusted to avoid a match of the first natural frequency and 3P excitation of the tower.

Offshore wind power can be an alternative for onshore wind power which suffers from not only civil complaints regarding to landscape damage and noise but also wind power siting due to lack of onshore site candidates. Compared to onshore wind power, offshore wind power is free from these problems considering that generally the sites are far enough from the coast. And more electricity is generated in offshore wind turbines due to abundant offshore wind resources. However high installation costs of offshore turbines could deteriorate the economical efficiency. The main cause of the high installation costs comes from a long-term lease of the heavy marine equipment and the consequential high rental cost. In this paper, the conceptual design of the support structure for offshore wind turbines will be suggested for the installation of them with less heavy marine equipment.
The vibration due to progressive ocean waves is analyzed for a typical footing-type offshore airport platform. The platform is modelled as a spring-supported Euler beam and buoyancy change due to wave is considered as excitation force, under the assumption that the wave propagates without distortion by the structure. The results show that the natural frequencies of this structure are distributed very closely and are little affected by boundary conditions and that the response charateristics due to ocean waves are quite different according to the wave frequency. In this study, the wave frequencies are divided into three regions; the resonance region at which the response is governed by the resonance between the natural mode at the wave frequency and the corresponding modal component of the wave excitation force, the bending governed region at which the response is governed by the bending stiffness, and the spring (buoyancy) governed region at which the response is governed by the spring constant ahd therefore is same as the incident wave form.
