In this paper, we introduce a change detection system that can extract and analyze change elements from high-resolution satellite imagery as well as low- or middle-resolution satellite imagery. The developed system provides not only 7 pixel-based methods that can be used to detect change from low- or middle-resolution satellite images but also a float window concept that can be used in manual change detection from high-resolution satellite images. This system enables fast process of the very large image, because it is constituted by OGC grid coverage components. Also new change detection algorithms can be easily added into this system if once they are made into grid coverage components.
Rain data and water-level data are importantly used for dam operation at flood period. Because dams are directly controlled by the water-level data, the characteristic of the water-level gauges is necessary to be managed. Thus, we developed the standard test facility and method for testing the water-level gauges which are a float type, a supersonic type and a radar type. And we calculated the uncertainty of the standard test facility to maintain the accuracy of water-level gauges. Through development of this facility, we could obtain the characteristics and the calibration factor of the water-level gauges. And, this study showed that the standard test facility can be widely used for dam operation and basin management.
Company A, an embedded system manufacturer, has been managing multiple development projects. Executives need to understand the risk level of every project and prioritize resource distribution. Traditional project monitoring tools or excel sheets are too complex for calculating the risk factors across a functional organization. Two new charts, "Spear-head Chart" and "Float Chart" were designed to assist high level decision making processes. Two charts were used for weekly executive meetings in order to monitor project progress and rectify project direction. One page graphical monitoring tools in Company A are good enough for high management decision making. Authors explain the characteristics of two charts and propose its practical implementation in real working environment. Spear-head chart was also implemented as a system.
This paper proposes an integerized approach to solve PCA(Principal Component Analysis) feature extract procedure mainly used for the face recognition. A simple conversion to integer values has the risk to reduce the precision compared to that of the floating points operations. We integerize the PC variables by normalizing with the maximum of them, and show the efficiency of the proposed scheme by comparing the results to those of the float/double precisions. The integerized scheme is expected to be an efficient way for the real-time implementation of PCA's recognition stage, because integer operator is more desirable than floating point ones. Further research is to find a way to implement face detection and to measure the distances from the stored PCs for the full real-time face recognition.
Biological deinking process of used papers was studied by the polymer modified cellulase. Cellulase was modified with copolymers which consist of polyoxyethylene derivative and maleic anhydride(MA). The MA functional groups of copolymer can react with amino acids groups of the cellulase without much loss of activity. Modified degree of amino acids was controlled by the added copolymer. The maximum modified degree was about 60% and it was obtained when the weight ratio of copolymer and cellulase was 4. The remained activity of the maximum modified cellulase(MMC) was higher than 80% of native cellulase. The MMC's concentration was 0.05-2.0 wt% relative to the dry paper. In mechanical pulping process, cellulase enhanced the detachment of the ink particle from the used paper by partial hydrolysis of the fiber. The polyoxyethylene of modified cellulase produced the forms which can float the separated ink particle. Compared to the convention deinking method with NaOH or organic chemicals, the new biological deinnking process improved the physical properties such as freeness, tearing strength and whiteness.
This paper presents a water level control method using Z-80 microcomputer. The process considered in this paper is one tank system which is described by an unknown nonlinear differential equation. The water level is measured by the end of bar installed at a float passing through 8 pair of photointerrupters located at equal distance. Therefore, the input data to 8255 which is interface between Z-80 and photointerrupters is discrete value, namely, value under 1. values from 1 to 8, and value upper 8. The water is pumped into the tank from a reservoir by switching on a relay connected to a moter and pump driving system. The pumping is stopped by switching off the relay. Experimental studies for two types of controllers are performed in order to investigate the control performance of water level of the water pumping system.
Quantifier floating is one of the much studied phenomena in natural languages where quantifying expressions may appear in places other than their original prenominal one. Its presence is especially prominent in languages such as Korean that allow more or less free word order. We find that, in addition to what is described in the literature, there are other remarkable regularities in the way the language allows quantifiers to “float” with respect to various constructions including coordination, relative clauses, and embedded clauses. These regularities are captured syntactically in a combinatory categorial grammar (CCG) framework for Korean. We also show how to derive semantic representations for Korean quantifier floating in the same CCG framework.
The behavior of optical properties of ion exchanged glasses was investigated inthis study. The used glasses were soda-lime-silica glasses that were produced by float process. The coloring effect by Ag colloids is measrued by spectral transmittance, color coordinates, dominant wavelength and excitation purity resulting from silver ions exchange of glasses immersed into the mixed molten salt with AgNO3. Ion exchange coloring of glasses made it possible to obtain glasses with a range from yellow to brown, and transmittance was decreased with increasing the amount of Ag colloids which reduced from Ag+ions. Also, obtain from yellow to reddish brown with increasing purity by reheating treatment in air for ion exchanged glasses. The size of Ag colloids are 0.02~0.1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with ion exchange conditions.
This study found that flotation efficiencies for removing algae and micro particles in raw water were optimized on mixing intensity and time of the mixing and flocculation conditions with a continuous DAF system. It is more efficient for mixing intensity at 23.1 $s^{-1}$ and time at 660 s(Gt value : 15246) to float flocculated floc with the raw water in M water treatment plant. Flotation efficiency was more than about 0.9 when operated pressure and A/S ratio were sustained at 5 $kg_f{\cdot}cm^{-2}$ and up to 0.056 $mL{\cdot}mg^{-1}$. The continuous DAF system made by the study could be continuously operated for 20 days and sustained not exceeding 4 NTU with raw water with low turbidity(13.4~9.8 NTU).
The objective of this study is to develope the reliability prediction model for Float Rated Integrating Gyroscope( :FRIG) at maximum loading. The equation of motion for FRIG is firstly derived to set up the reliability prediction model. To analysis reliability or all parts of the gyro is not easy due to their complicated structure. Therefore the failure parts are chosen by Failure Mode Effective Analysis (:FMEA). F.E.M is utilized to calculate loads for the selseced rotating assembly and pivot / jewel. The technical reliability is calculated by applying reliability design theory with these results and the performance reliability is sought through distribution estimation with error test data. The bulk reliability of gyroscope is sought by applying the two results. The present prediction results are compared with the accumulation time in good agreement.
