  • Post-traumatic soft tissue defects sometimes require sequential flap coverage to achieve complete healing. In the era of propeller flaps, which were developed to reduce donor site morbidity, Feng et al. introduced the concept of the free-style puzzle flap, in which a previously harvested flap becomes its own donor site by recycling the perforator. However, when a perforator cannot be found with a Doppler device, we suggest performing a new type of flap, the flip-flap puzzle flap, which combines two concepts: the free-style puzzle flap and the flip-flap flap described by Voche et al. in the 1990s. We present the cases of three patients who achieved complete healing through this procedure.

  • This study is a structural analysis of 3" Cryogenic Safety Breakaway Coupling using a manufactured product from KLAW Company. Breakaway coupling is very important in the pipe system, especially when transporting fuel or gas in the pipeline. For the analysis of the patent infringement target, Dover and KLAW Company's technologies (US 08127785, EP 0764809) were analyzed. Finally, the flip-flap valve overlap was measured after combining the breakaway coupling through 3D modeling, and the valve overlap had a 0.7mm measurement value from the height gauge. The safety breakaway coupling consisted of a total of 62 pieces (body: 42, valve module: 21).

  • The development of flip-graft, yield of antler and growth of antler in Sika deer, Red deer and Elk were investigated to establish the technology of transplantation of flip-graft. Pedicle flip-grafts were transplanted on the sides pedicle, on the midline of forehead and on the middle line of the skull. The success rate of transplantation was 42%, 5 animals out of 12. The yields of antler and number of point were 716g and 1,071g, and 2.3 and 1.0 in control and donor of flip-graft, respectively in red deer. The length and weight of anther of recipient of flip-graft in elk were 17cm, 302g. The length and weight of hard antler of recipient of flip-graft in red deer were 26cm and 122g. Flip-graft should be transplanted on the scull after removal of the corium for strong adherence.

  • Purpose: The aim of the present clinical trial was to compare pain during injection of anterior middle superior alveolar (AMSA) technique with that of infiltration injection technique in the maxilla in periodontal flap surgeries of patients referring to the Department of Periodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Methods: Twenty subjects with an age range of 20 to 40 years were selected for the present study. One side of the maxilla was randomly selected as the test side and the other as the control side using a flip of a coin. AMSA technique was used on the test side and infiltration technique was used on the control side for anesthesia. On both sides 2% lidocaine containing 1:80,000 epinephrine was used for anesthesia. The operator obtained the visual analogue scale for each patient immediately after the injection and immediately after surgery. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistical methods (frequency percentages, means and standard deviations) and Wilcoxon's test using SPSS ver. 13 (SPSS Inc.). Statistical significance was defined at P<0.05. Results: There were no statistically significant differences in pain during injection between the two techniques (P=0.856). There were statistically significant differences in postoperative pain between the two injection techniques (P=0.024). Conclusions: Postoperative pain in AMSA injection technique was less than that in the infiltration technique. Therefore, the AMSA technique is preferable in the periodontal surgeries for the anesthesia of palatal tissues given the fact that it has other advantages, too.
