  • The supersonic advanced trainer based on digital flight-by-wire flight control system uses aircraft flight information such as altitude, calibrated airspeed and angle of attack to calculate flight control law, and this information is measured by IMFP(Integrated Multi-Function Probe) equipment. The information has triplex structure using three IMFP sensors. Final value of informations is selected by mid-value selection logic to have more flight data reliability. As the result of supersonic flight test, pitch oscillation is occurred due to IMFP noise when altitude hold autopilot mode is engaged. This tendency may affect stability and handling quality of an aircraft during autopilot mode. This paper addresses autopilot control law design to remove pitch oscillation and these control laws are verified by non-real time simulation and flight test. Also, pitch response characteristics of pitch attitude hold autopilot mode is improved by upgrading the control law structure and feedback gain tuning during bank turn.

  • A novel attitude tacking control method using Time Delay Control (TDC) scheme is developed to provide robust controllability of a rigid hexacopter in case of single or multiple rotor faults. When the TDC scheme is developed, the rotor faults such as the abrupt and/or incipient rotor faults are considered as model uncertainties. The kinematics, modeling of rigid dynamics of hexacopter, and design of stability and controllability augmentation system (SCAS) are addressed rigorously in this paper. In order to compare the developed control scheme to a conventional control method, a nonlinear numerical simulation has been performed and the attitude tracking performance has been compared between the two methods considering the single and multiple rotor faults cases. The developed control scheme shows superior stability and robust controllability of a hexacopter that is subjected to one or multiple rotor faults and external disturbance, i.e., wind shear, gust, and turbulence.

  • In this paper, the stable region for missile guidance loop employing an integrated proportional navigation guidance law is derived. The missile guidance loop is formulated as a closed-loop control system consisting of a linear time-invariant feed-forward block and a time-varying feedback gain. By applying the circle criterion to the system, a bound for the time of flight up to which stability can be assured is established as functions of flight time. Less conservative results, as compared to the result by Popov criterion, are obtained.

  • In this paper, the real time simulation of continuous dynamic system was performed by general integration algorithms using multiprocessor. For the stable simulation, the relation between stability of integration method and integration step-size was investigated from the stability graph. As a typical illustration, the real-time digital simulation and the real-time hard-ware-in-the-loop simulation of flight control system were performed and reviewed. Moreover through the real-time simulation, the design verification and performace test of flight control system could be evaluated. The computer used for simulation is AD10, which is a very high-speed special-purpose computer designed specifically for a time-critical simulation of large and complex models of dynamic systems. The simulation validity is demonstrated by comparing hardware simulation results with software simulation results.

  • The nonlinear observers are proposed for a nonlinear system. To improve the characteristics such as a stability, a convergence, and an H$\sub$$\infty$/ filter performance criterion, we utilize and H$\sub$$\infty$/ filter Riccati equation or a modified H$\sub$$\infty$/ filter Riccati equation with a freedom parameter. Using the Lyapunov, the characteristics of the observer are analyzed. Then the in-flight alignment for a strapdown inertial navigation system(SDINS) is designed using the observer proposed. Simulation results show that the observer with the modified H$\sub$$\infty$/ fitter Riccati equation effectively improve the performance of the in-flight alignment.

  • A helicopter control problem has been researched with many control theory. Especially, study of the hovering flight attitude control of a helicopter has been brisked since 60s with multivariable control theory. In this paper, the modeling is interpreted through the 6-freedom equation. To getting a entire equation, species of parameters and charts are adapted. The $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controller is acquired by mixing the $H_2$ control theory and the $H_{\infty}$ control theory. The $H_2$ control theory is reasonable one to increase the performance of a plant, and the $H_{\infty}$ control theory secures the robust stability. The simulation shows that the helicopter system is being controlled while maintaining performance and robust stability against perturbation.

  • The implementation of a robust $H_{\infty}$ Control, which is numerically efficient for uncertain nonlinear dynamics, on longitudinal and lateral autopilots is realised for a quarter scale Piper J3-Cub model accepted as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) under the condition of sensor noise and disturbance effects. The stability and control coefficients of the UAV are evaluated through XFLR5 software, which utilises a vortex lattice method at a predefined flight condition. After that, the longitudinal trim point is computed, and the linearization process is performed at this trim point. The "${\mu}$-Synthesis"-based robust $H_{\infty}$ control algorithm for roll, pitch and yaw displacement autopilots are developed for both longitudinal and lateral linearised nonlinear dynamics. Controller performances, closed-loop frequency responses, nominal and perturbed system responses are obtained under the conditions of disturbance and sensor noise. The simulation results indicate that the proposed control scheme achieves robust performance and guarantees stability under exogenous disturbance and measurement noise effects and model uncertainty.

  • In this paper, the guidance law for formation flight and collision avoidance of multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)s is proposed. To construct the physically comprehensible guidance law for formation flight, the virtual structure approach is used. To develop a guidance law for collision avoidance considering both other UAVs and unknown static obstacles, a geometric approach using information such as a relative position vector is utilized. Through the Lyapunov theorem, the stability of the proposed guidance law is proved. To combine guidance commands, the concept of the elastic weighting factor inspired by the elastic behavior of shape memory polymer, which tends to regain its original shape after deformation, is introduced. By using the concept of elastic weighting factor, multiple UAVs are able to cope actively with the situation of a collision between both UAVs and static obstacles during the formation flight. To verify the performance of the proposed method, numerical simulations are performed.

  • This paper deals with recent research cases and directions of Fly-By-Wireless (FBWLS) flight control technology. FBWLS is a new type of flight control system technology with the aim of solving the problems mainly caused by the increasing amount of wires in aircraft to which Fly-By-Wire (FBW) technology applies. Therefore, in FBWLS flight control system the wired communication system is replaced with a wireless communication system. Currently the FBWLS flight control technology is at an initial development stage and thus this paper surveys deals with the cases in the viewpoint of technology feasibility. In this context, this paper analyzes technology that needs further studies to secure the reliability, stability and accuracy to the similar level of the corresponding FBW system. Since the major problems of FBWLS technology are packet losses and time delays so that this paper suggests the research direction of wireless communication protocol selection, optimization of wireless communication network and controller design considered communication environment.

  • In this paper, we design a flight controller using a dynamic compensator for a small unmanned aerial vehicle. The proposed method ensures flight stability during altitude holding and waypoints passing by improving the transient response and steady state error. The control system consists of dual feedback loops with an inner loop and a outer loop. The inner loop has a PD controller to improves the transient response and the outer loop has a dynamic compensator to reduce overshoot in the transient response and improve the steady state error. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by flight test on a small UAV.
