데이터 마이닝 기법을 활용한 군용 항공기 비행 예측모형 및 비행규칙 도출 연구 (A Study on the Development of Flight Prediction Model and Rules for Military Aircraft Using Data Mining Techniques)

  • Purpose This paper aims to prepare a full operational readiness by establishing an optimal flight plan considering the weather conditions in order to effectively perform the mission and operation of military aircraft. This paper suggests a flight prediction model and rules by analyzing the correlation between flight implementation and cancellation according to weather conditions by using big data collected from historical flight information of military aircraft supplied by Korean manufacturers and meteorological information from the Korea Meteorological Administration. In addition, by deriving flight rules according to weather information, it was possible to discover an efficient flight schedule establishment method in consideration of weather information. Design/methodology/approach This study is an analytic study using data mining techniques based on flight historical data of 44,558 flights of military aircraft accumulated by the Republic of Korea Air Force for a total of 36 months from January 2013 to December 2015 and meteorological information provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration. Four steps were taken to develop optimal flight prediction models and to derive rules for flight implementation and cancellation. First, a total of 10 independent variables and one dependent variable were used to develop the optimal model for flight implementation according to weather condition. Second, optimal flight prediction models were derived using algorithms such as logistics regression, Adaboost, KNN, Random forest and LightGBM, which are data mining techniques. Third, we collected the opinions of military aircraft pilots who have more than 25 years experience and evaluated importance level about independent variables using Python heatmap to develop flight implementation and cancellation rules according to weather conditions. Finally, the decision tree model was constructed, and the flight rules were derived to see how the weather conditions at each airport affect the implementation and cancellation of the flight. Findings Based on historical flight information of military aircraft and weather information of flight zone. We developed flight prediction model using data mining techniques. As a result of optimal flight prediction model development for each airbase, it was confirmed that the LightGBM algorithm had the best prediction rate in terms of recall rate. Each flight rules were checked according to the weather condition, and it was confirmed that precipitation, humidity, and the total cloud had a significant effect on flight cancellation. Whereas, the effect of visibility was found to be relatively insignificant. When a flight schedule was established, the rules will provide some insight to decide flight training more systematically and effectively.

  • This study is performed to analyze the turbulence distribution of Fev. & Mar. in 2000 by the analysis of the parameters related with flight data of FDR(Flight Data Recorder). In the analysis, we selected the Solid State Flight Data Recorder(SSFDR) & Universal Flight Data Recorder(UFDR) flight data of the exact same aircraft(capacity 120 persons). Through this study, we verified that turbulence is concerned with configuration of the ground and flight situation of aircraft.

  • This study is performed to analyze the turbulence effect by the analysis of the parameters related with flight data of FDR(Flight Data Recorder). In the analysis, the SSFDR(Solid State Flight Data Recorder) flight data of B747-400 and B767-300 model aircraft was selected. Through this study, we verified that turbulence interfere with flight safety because it is modifiable to flight situation and condition of aircraft.

  • 현대의 고성능 전투기에 탑재되어 있는 전기식 비행제어계통(Digital Fly-By-Wire Flight Control System)은 통합 다기능 감지기(IMFP : Integrated Multi-Function Probe)에 의해 항공기의 고도/속도/받음각 정보를 얻는다. T-50에 적용되어 있는 3개의 IMFP는 3중 결함 및 분리되지 않는 2중 결함에 대해서 비행 안정성(Flight Stability)을 확보하기 위해 형상 재구성 모드(Air Data Reconfiguration Mode)를 제어법칙에 적용했다. 본 논문에서는 항공기 운용 시 발생할 수 있는 IMFP 결함으로 인한 형상 재구성 모드 제어법칙에 대해, 비행 안정성을 해석하기 위하여 선형해석(Linear Analysis) 및 HQS( Handling Quality Simulator) 조종사 시뮬레이션을 수행하였고, T-50 비행시험 시, 발생했던 IMFP 결함으로 인해 제어법칙이 형상 재구성 모드로 적용되었던 사례를 제시했다. 그 결과, T-50 훈련기의 제어법칙이 형상 재구성 모드로 전환될 경우, 항공기 안정성에는 영향이 없다는 것을 알았다.

  • This study is performed to secure the safety of civil aviation by establishing systematic analysis ability of Flight Data Recorder. Through this study, downloading SSFDR(Solid State Flight Data Recorder) to personal computer, editing interface file, flight data numerical analysis and regulations relayed to the aircraft with changes in destination airport in flight are performed. In the analysis, the flight data of B747-400 model aircraft between Los Angeles(KLAX) and Jeju(RKPC) was selected.

  • 일반적으로 항공기 운동 모델의 충실도는 대상 항공기의 비행시험 결과와 비교하여 검증한다. 따라서 성능 비교를 위한 기준 비행 데이터를 추출하는데, 각종 잡음이 포함된 방대한 양의 비행데이터를 처리하는 것은 많은 인력과 시간이 소요된다. 특히 회전익항공기는 축간 커플링 효과와 후류 간섭 효과 등으로 비선형성이 큰 특성을 가지고 있으며, 제자리 비행, 후진 비행 등의 다양한 기동을 수행하므로 비행 데이터를 처리하는 것이 복잡하다. 본 연구에서는 회전익항공기의 비행 데이터 처리 기준을 정의하고, 데이터마이닝 기법을 이용한 정적 및 동적 비행 데이터 자동 처리를 위한 절차와 방법을 제시한다. 최종적으로 비행데이터를 사용하여 제시한 방법을 검증한다.

  • Helicopter accidents due to spatial disorientation in low visibility conditions continue to persist as a major issue. These incidents often stem from human error, typically induced by stress, and frequently result in fatal outcomes. This study employs machine learning to analyze flight data and evaluate the efficacy of a flight illusion detection algorithm, laying groundwork for further research. This study collected flight data from approximately 20 pilots using a simulated flight training device to construct a range of flight scenarios. These scenarios included three stages of flight: ascending, level, and descent, and were further categorized into good visibility conditions and 0-mile visibility conditions. The aim was to investigate the occurrence of flight illusions under these conditions. From the extracted data, we obtained a total of 54,000 time-series data points, sampled five times per second. These were then analyzed using a machine learning approach.

A Study on Parameter Estimation for General Aviation Canard Aircraft

  • This paper presents the procedures used for estimating the stability and control derivatives of a general aviation canard aircraft from flight data. The maximum likelihood estimation method which accounts for both process and measurement noise was used for the flight data analysis of a four seat canard aircraft, the Firefly. Without relying on the parameter estimation method, several aerodynamic derivatives were obtained by analyzing the steady state flight data. A wind tunnel test, a flight test of a 1/4 scaled remotely controlled model aircraft, and the prediction of aerodynamic coefficients using the USAF Stability and Control Digital Data Compendium (DATCOM), Advanced Aircraft Analysis (AAA), and Computer Fluid Dynamics (CFD) were performed during the development phase of the Firefly and the results were compared with flight determined derivatives of a full scaled flight prototype. A correlation between the results from each method could be used for the design of the canard aircraft as well as for building the aerodynamic database.

차분펄스부호변조방식에 기반한 새로운 비행데이터 전송 기법 (A new DPCM-based transmission scheme for flight data)

  • 본 논문에서는 DPCM 기반의 새로운 비행데이터 전송방법을 제안한다. LRU에서 MC로 전송되는 비행데이터의 양은 항공기의 성능향상과 기능의 다양화로 인해 크게 증가되었다. 이는 MC에서 요구되는 Hard Real-Time 조건을 만족시키기 어렵게 한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 X-Plane 시뮬레이터에 의해 생성된 비행데이터를 관찰하여 대부분의 비행데이터들은 완만한 변화를 보인다는 것을 확인하였다. 이 사실에 기초하여 ARINC-429 프로토콜의 수정을 통해 비행데이터의 차분 값을 전송하는 새로운 데이터 포맷과 기법을 제안 한다. 실험결과 기존의 ARINC-429 방법에 비해 20% 성능향상이 있음을 보였다.
