The reinforced concrete(RC) flexural members strengthened with steel plate/CFS at soffit have initial stresses and strains in reinforcements and concrete caused by the service loads at the time of retrofitting works. These initial residual stresses and strains of strengthened beams may affect the flexural performance of the rehabilitated beams. The objective of this study is to evaluate and verify the effectiveness of rehabilitation by external bonded steel plates and CFS to the tension face of the beams under three conditions of pre-loading. Thirteen beam specimens are tested and analyzed. Main test parameters are pre-loading conditions, strengthening materials and reinforcement ratio of specimens. The effect of test parameters on the strengthened beams is analyzed from the maximum load capacity, load-deflection relationship, state of stress of the materials. crack propagation phase, and failure modes. Both test results and design formulas of ACI Code provisions are compared and evaluated.

The primary role of fibers in High performance fiber reinforced cement composites(HPFRCCs) is to improve the toughness, or energy absorption capacity, of the composite material, However, there is still no general agreement as to how this toughness should be characterized, or how it might be used in the design of structures containing HPFRCCs. In this paper, therefore, we focus on test techniques for measuring flexural toughness. For mechanical properties, HPFRCCs can be tested in the same way as fiber reinforced concrete(FRC). Both the significance and the limitations of somewhat different national and industrial standards of FRC are discussed. For flexural toughness, with depend on the presence of fibers, new test methods was developed and verified. We also suggest evaluation method of tensile toughness indices using the moment curvature relationship in flexural tests.
The purpose of this study is to propose new hysteretic characteristics of medium- to low-rise RC structures controlled by both shear and flexure. Through previous study, the dual lateral force-resisting system composed of shear and flexural failure members has a new failure mechanism that cooperates to enhance the flexural capacity of the flexural failure member even after the failure of the shear member, and the existing theoretical equation significantly underestimates the ultimate strength. In this study, the residual lateral strength mechanism of the dual lateral force-resisting system was analyzed, and, as a result, an equation for estimating the residual flexural strength of each shear-failure member was proposed. The residual flexural strength of each shear-failure member was verified in comparison with the structural testing results obtained in previous study, and the proposed residual flexural strength equation for shear-failure members was tested for reliability using FEA, and its applicable range was also determined. In addition, restoring-force characteristics for evaluating the seismic performance of the dual lateral force-resisting system (nonlinear dynamic analysis), reflecting the proposed residual flexural strength equation, were proposed. Finally, the validity of the restoring-force characteristics of RC buildings equipped with the dual lateral force-resisting system proposed in the present study was verified by performing pseudo-dynamic testing and nonlinear dynamic analysis based on the proposed restoring-force characteristics. Based on this comparative analysis, the applicability of the proposed restoring-force characteristics was verified.
In this study, the flexural behavior of steel fiber reinforced ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) was investigated. It presents experimental results of steel fiber reinforced UHPC with steel fiber content of 2% by volume and steel reinforcement ratio of less than 0.02. This study aims at providing more information about UHPC beams in bending in order to establish a reasonable prediction model for flexural resistance and deflection in structural code in the future. The experimental results show that UHPC is in favor of cracking behavior and ductility of beams, and that the ductility indices range from 6.29 to 10.44, which means high ductility of UHPC. Also, the flexural rigidity of beam whose cast is begun from end of beam is larger than that of beam whose cast is begun from midspan of beam. This result represents that the flexural rigidity is affected by the placing method of UHPC.

For the replacement of deteriorated concrete decks or wider-span slab, composite slab could be very attactive due to higher stiffness and strength. Based on the previous research, a modified I-beam composite hollow slab was suggested. In order to investigate the static flexural behavior of the proposed composite slab and to suggest its flexural design method, experiments were performed. Judging from the tests, a composite slab with I-beam having a semi-circle hole showed better structural performance. The effect of web details on the flexural stiffness was negligible. Flexural stiffness, ultimate strength, and ductility of the composite slabs were significantly greater than the RC slab due to composite action. While the failure of the RC slab was punching shear failure, the composite hollow slab showed flexural cracking and failure by yielding of the I-beams and crushing of concrete. Therefore, the current one-way design concept is appropriate for the design of I-beam composite hollow slab.
This paper aims to model the effects of five different variables which includes: cement content (C), the steel fiber amount (F), the silica fume amount (SF), the superplasticizer (SP), the silica fume amount (SF), and the water to cementitious ratio (w/c) on 28 days flexural toughness of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) as well as, a study on the variable interactions and correlations by using analyze of variance (ANOVA) and response surface methodology (RSM). The variables were compared by fine aggregate mass. The model will be valid for the mixes with 0.18 to 0.32 w/c ratio, 4 to 8 percent steel fiber, 7 to 13 percent cement, 15 to 30 percent silica fume, and 4 to 8 percent superplasticizer by fine aggregate mass.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the flexural bond performance in beam using 3-types anti-corrosion coatings. For the test. we used $15\times\times20\times110cm$ R.C beams, in which the epoxy, the red lead, and the cementitious anti-corrosion coating re-bars used. The results of test using these 3-type anti-corrosion coatings are shown that the flexural bond performance of cementitious anti-corrosion coating rebar in R.C beam is superior to other anti-corrosion coatings rebars.

In this study, flexural strength and impact resistance were evaluated to investigate the fiber length effect of amorphous metallic fiber. As a result, in the case of 30AFRCC, cutoff behavior due to excellent bonding performance by large specific surface area has greatly influence on the flexural and impact resistance performance. In the case of 15AFRCC, the bonding efficiency is relatively low, because the specific surface area is smaller than that of 30AFRCC and the number of fiber is large, so the effect of improving the flexural and impact resistance performance is smaller than that of 30AFRCC.
Organic fiber reinforced concrete is applicable to many applications for construction material. In general, organic fibers have low tensile strength and elastic modulus, but they have many advantages such as high crack resistance, impact resistance, chemical resistance, flexural behavior and corrosion resistance. In this study, hybrid organic fibers were prepared by mixing polyamide (PA) fibers and high strength polyester (PET) fibers. Then, flexural performance test of fiber reinforced concrete containing hybrid organic fiber was performed. The energy absorption capacity of the hybrid organic fiber reinforced concrete was evaluated.

This study investigates the behavior of ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) with hybrid macro-micro steel and macro steel-polypropylene (PP) fibers. Compression, direct and indirect tension tests were carried out on cubic and cylindrical, dogbone and prismatic specimens, respectively. Three types of macro steel fibers, i.e., round crimped (RC), crimped (C), and hooked (H) were combined with micro steel (MS) and PP fibers in overall ratios of 2% by volume. Additionally, numerical analyses were performed to validate the test results. Parameters studied included, fracture energy, tensile strength, compressive strength, flexural strength, and residual strength. Tests showed that replacing PP fibers with MS significantly improves all parameters particularly flexural strength (17.38 MPa compared to 37.71 MPa). Additionally, the adopted numerical approach successfully captured the flexural load-deflection response of experimental beams. Lastly, the proposed regression model for the flexural load-deflection curve compared very well with experimental results, as evidenced by its coefficient of correlation (R2) of over 0.90.
