  • The idiom is listed in the lexicon, because it's meaning cannot be inferred from it's constituents. And the idiom is a single semantic unit. Thus the idiom is inserted to the syntax in the quality of a word. But the idiom is not always inserted to the syntax as a word. In the process generating the sentence, we can recognize the categorial property of the idiom that it is formally equal to the syntactic phrase. Then each of the constituents of the idiom can be inserted to the syntax. This is why the syntactic operation(as modification, topicalization, relativization, etc) can be applied to the constituent of the idiom. In this respect the idiom is a flexible construction as the listeme of a lexicon. The flexible property of the idiom is related to the dynamicity of a lexicon. The formal or semantic transformation of the idiom is the good example to show the dynamicity of a lexicon.

  • Fault diagnosis technique in machining system which is one of engineering techniques absolutely necessary to automation of manufacturing system has been proposed. As a whole, diagnosis process is explained by two steps: sensor data acquisition and reasoning current state of system with the given sensor data. Flexible disk grinding process implemented in milling machine was employed in order to obtain empirical manufacturing process information. Resistance force data during machining were acquired using tool dynamometer known as sensor which is comparably accurate and reliable in operation. Tool status during the process was analyzed using influnece diagram assigning probability from the statistical analysis procedure.

  • An algorithm is developed to find optimal machining parameters for multiple machining environments. The cutting rate-tool life (R-T) characteristic curve presents the general loci of optima and is useful for the flexible machining operations planning. The R-T characteristic curve for the machining economics prob- lems with linear-logarithmic tool lofe model may be determined by applying sensitivity analysis to log-dual problems. Three cases of the change of machining environments are considered. An end milling example is constructed to illustrate the algorithm.

  • This paper considers the simulation-based installation and operation safety analysis of installation and operation machinery of USBL as underwater equipment in operation environments. The simulation model of this mechanical system was developed using flexible multibody dynamics simulation technology. Operation and environmental conditions were applied using dynamic forces model considering ocean environments. The developed simulation model was used to evaluate operation safety through eigenvalue analysis, dynamic forces analysis, and structural analysis. As the analysis results, the operation safety was very low in extreme operation condition due to increase of dynamic loads by VIV effect. It was not a problem because safety factor had more than 2.0 in this case. However, the operation safety should be further strengthened because the USBL and LARS was installed and utilized in unmanned vessel with automatic controls. In order to improve safety by avoiding VIV frequency, we redesigned the USBL pole.

  • We prepared a flexible and transparent CuO/Cu/CuO multilayer electrodes on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate using a specially designed roll-to-roll sputtering system at room temperature for GFF-type touch screen panels (TSPs). By the continuous roll-to-roll sputtering of the CuO and Cu layer, we fabricated a flexible CuO(150nm)/Cu(150nm)/CuO(150nm) multilayer electrodes with a sheet resistance of $0.289{\Omega}/square$, resistivity of $5.991{\times}10^{-23}{\Omega}-cm$, at the optimized condition without breaking the vacuum. To investigate the feasibility of the CuO/Cu/CuO multilayer as a transparent electrode for GFF-type TSPs, we fabricated simple GFF-type TSPs using the diamond patterned CuO/Cu/CuO electrode on PET substrate as function of mesh line width. Using diamond patterned CuO/Cu/CuO electrode of mesh line $5{\mu}m$ with sheet resistance of 38 Ohm/square, optical transmittance of 90% at 550 nm and an average transmittance of 89% at wavelength range from 380 to 780 nm, we successfully demonstrated GFF-type touch panel screens (TPSs). The successful operation of GFF-type TPSs with CuO/Cu/CuO multilayer electrodes indicates that the CuO/Cu/CuO multilayer is a promising transparent electrode for large-area capacitive-type TPSs due to its low sheet resistance and high transparency.

  • To enhance the effectiveness of the FMS (flexible manufacturing system), it is necessary for the manufacturing control system to be upgraded by integrating the cyber and the physical manufacturing systems. Using the CPPS (Cyber-Physical Production System) concept, this study proposes a 4-stage vertical integration and control framework for an aircraft parts manufacturing plant. In the proposed framework, the process controller prepares the operations schedule for processing work orders generated from the APS (advanced planning & scheduling) system. The scheduled operations and the related control commands are assigned to equipments by the dispatcher of the line controller. The line monitor is responsible for monitoring the overall status of the FMS including work orders and equipments. Finally the process monitor uses the simulation model to check the performance of the production plan using real time plant status data. The W-FMCS (Wing rib-Flexible Manufacturing Control & Simulation) are developed to implement the proposed 4-stage CPPS based FMS control architecture. The effectiveness of the proposed control architecture is examined by the real plant's operational data such as utilization and throughput. The performance improvement examined shows the usefulness of the framework in managing the smart factory's operation by providing a practical approach to integrate cyber and physical production systems.

  • In healthy adults, diagnosis of aspiration of foreign body into tracheobronchial tree is not difficult because various symptoms such as dyspnea, coughing, or cyanosis develop when foreign body is aspirated into tracheobronchial tree. But unless a clear history of an aspiration event can be obtained, diagnosis will be delayed. Early complications of tracheobronchial foreign body aspiration include asphyxia, cardiac arrest, dyspnea, laryngeal edema, and cyanosis. Late complications include pneumonia, lung abscess, bronchiectasis, hemoptysis, bronchial stenosis, and polyp. Treatment is removal of foreign body by operation or bronchoscopy. Currently, flexible bronchoscopy is preferred in adults than rigid bronchoscopy. A 36-year-old male visited to Dongkang hospital due to productive coughing and dyspnea. On auscultation, focal inspiratory wheezing was heard. On chest PA, mild emphysematous change was seen Flexible bronchoscopy was done. Bronchoscopically, mucoid impaction, surrounding inflammation, foreign body lodged in the right lower lobe bronchus, and interbronchial fistula(between right middle and lower lobe bronchus) were seen Foreign body($2.4\{times}1.3cm$ sized antacid package) was removed by flexible bronchoscopy. Later, history of aspiration of a piece of antacid package was found. We report a case of recurrent bronchitis with interbronchial fistula as a result of occult aspiration of foreign body with review of the literatures.

  • Recently, The flexible moving block system in train operation has been introduced to the worldwide rail transportation markets. This paper is a comparative study of the conventional fixed block systems effects and the flexible moving block system on train operating time saving. Based on the literature review, the new algorithm is developed. It is to calculate the optimum headway time of the train. The proposed algorithm can overcome some of the existing algorithm problems, such as the limits of the data and unaware of the rail characteristic. The total travel time saving effect has been analyzed by applying the skip stop scheduling system to the each block system. The results of this study indicated that the total travel time is approximately 40% decreased and the schedule velocity is approximately 24% improved when the moving block system is applied. The results of this study could be used as a theoretical basis for the selection of rail signal system in Seoul's subway number 2 line.

  • This study proposes an innovative methodology for developing flexible printed circuit boards (FPCBs) capable of conforming to three-dimensional shapes, meeting the increasing demand for electronic circuits in diverse and complex product designs. By integrating a traditional flat plate-based fabrication process with a subsequent three-dimensional thermal deformation technique, we have successfully demonstrated an FPCB that maintains stable electrical characteristics despite significant shape deformations. Using a modified polyimide substrate along with Ag flake-based conductive ink, we identified optimized process variables that enable substrate thermal deformation at lower temperatures (~130℃) and enhance the stretchability of the conductive ink (ε ~30%). The application of this novel FPCB in a prototype 3D-shaped sensor device, incorporating photosensors and temperature sensors, illustrates its potential for creating multifunctional, shape-adaptable electronic devices. The sensor can detect external light sources and measure ambient temperature, demonstrating stable operation even after transitioning from a planar to a three-dimensional configuration. This research lays the foundation for next-generation FPCBs that can be seamlessly integrated into various products, ushering in a new era of electronic device design and functionality.

  • Flood control capacity enhancement measures in watersheds can be broadly categorized into structural and non-structural approaches. In this study, we propose the improvement of the flood control capacity in the Seomjin River basin through non-structural measures by optimizing the operation of the Seomjin River Dam, specifically by introducing a flexible flood season restricted water level (FSRWL). The flexible operation of FSRWL involves setting lower restricted water levels at the beginning of the flood season to increase flood control capacity and gradually raising them as the season progresses to manage flood control more effectively. As a structural measure, we examined the installation of riverside storage areas, a representative technique of nature-based solutions (NbS). Using the 2020 flood event as a case study, we analyzed the flood level reduction effects of implementing structural and non-structural measures both separately and simultaneously to identify the most effective and economical approach. The results indicate that the optimal flood prevention strategy for the main stream of the Seomjin River during the 2020 flood event involves operating the Seomjin River Dam FSRWL at EL. 190 m during the mid-flood season as a non-structural measure and installing a riverside storage area downstream of Godalgyo Bridge in Daepyeong-ri, Gokseong-gun as a structural measure.
