컴퓨터 CPU 냉각용 방열기의 열유동특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Characteristics of Radiator for Computer CPU Cooling)

  • The performance of louver-finned flat-tube and fin and tube radiators for computer CPU liquid cooling was experimentally investigated. In this study, 7 samples of radiators with different shape and pass number (1, 2, 10) were tested in a wind tunnel. The experiments were conducted under the different air velocity ranged from 1 to 4 m/s. The water flow rate through a pass was 1.2 LPM. Inlet temperatures of air and water were $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ respectively. It was found that the best performance was observed in the louver-finned flat-tube sample considering pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient.

  • Convective boiling heat transfer coefficients of R-22 were obtained in a flat extruded aluminum tube with $D_h=1.41mm$. The test range covered mass flux from 200 to $600kg/m^{2}s$, heat flux from 5 to $15kW/m^2$ and saturation temperature from $5^{\circ}C\;to\;15^{\circ}C$. The heat transfer coefficient curve shows a decreasing trend after a certain quality (critical quality). The critical quality decreases as the heat flux increases, and as the mass flux decreases. The early dryout at a high heat flux results in a unique 'cross-over' of the heat transfer coefficient curves. The heat transfer coefficient increases as the mass flux increases. At a low quality region, however, the effect of mass flux is not prominent. The heat transfer coefficient increases as the saturation temperature increases. The effect of saturation temperature, however, diminishes as the heat flux decreases. Both the Shah and the Kandlikar correlations un-derpredict the low mass flux and overpredict the high mass flux data.

  • In the utilization of solar energy most often a flat solar collector is used for solar heating, system. Since solar energy is absorbed through this solar collector, it is considered to be a most important part in the whole solar heating system. The purpose of the present investigation is to evaluate the influence of varying design parameters for thermal performances of flat-plate solar collector. By analysing these parameters, optimum design of solar collector would become possible. Specification of the existing solar collector are utilized in calculation as a starting point. Analysis is carried out numerically for "Unit Solar Collector" which is composed of fin and tube. Among design parameters. such parameters as mass flow rate per unit area, tube spacing and fin thickness are selected as variables in the computer simulation model. Results are presented for thermal performances of flat-plate solar collector for each important design parameters, so that predictions become possible through numerical analysis without performing experiments whenever it is required. required.

편평관군 열교환기에서의 응축 열전달 및 압력강하 특성해석 (Numerical Analysis on the Condensation Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop Characteristics of the Flat Tube-Bundle Heat Exchanger)

  • A numerical analysis was carried out on the heat and mass transfer, and pressure drop characteristics of the modular tube bundle heat exchanger. The finite volume method with a $k-\varepsilon$ turbulence model was used for the analysis. Due to condensation, the total heat transfer rate is observed about $4\~8\%$ higher than that on dry surfaces. Total heat transfer rate increases with increase in the velocity, temperature and relative humidity of incoming air. It also increases with decreasing the aspect ratio of heat exchanger tube. The inlet velocity of cooling water has little effect on the total heat transfer when the other conditions are fixed.

  • This paper describes the recent work on advanced technology concepts applied to air cooled heat exchangers for residential air-conditioning. The concepts include vortex generators for the air-side, micro-fin or flat tubes for the refrigerant-side. Advances in understanding of heat transfer mechanisms, predictive models are discussed.
