The Measurement and Investigation of Fire and Explosion Properties for Acetone (아세톤의 화재 및 폭발 특성치 측정 및 고찰)

  • For the safe handling of acetone, the flash point, the explosion limit at $25^{\circ}C$ and the temperature dependence of the explosion limits were investigated. And the AIT for acetone were experimented. By using the literatures data, the lower and upper explosion limits of acetone recommended 2.5 vol% and 13.0 vol%, respectively. In this study, the lower flash points of acetone recommended $-20^{\circ}C$. This study was determined relationship between the AITs and the ignition delay times by using ASTM E659-78 apparatus for acetone, and the experimental AIT of acetone was $565^{\circ}C$. The new equations for predicting the temperature dependence of the explosion limits of acetone is proposed. The values calculated by the proposed equations were a good agreement with the literature data.

  • For the safe handling of n-hexane, the explosion limit at $25^{\circ}C$, the temperature dependence of the explosion limits and the lower flash point were investigated. And AITs(auto-ignition temperatures) by ignition delay time for n-hexane were experimented. By using the literatures data, the lower and upper explosion limits of n-hexane recommended 1.0 Vol% and 8.0 Vol%, respectively. In this study, the lower flash points of n-hexane recommended $-23^{\circ}C$. This study measured relationship between the AITs and the ignition delay times by using ASTM E659-78 apparatus for n-hexane, and the experimental AIT of n-hexane was $240^{\circ}C$. The new equations for predicting the temperature dependence of the explosion limits of n-hexane is proposed. The values calculated by the proposed equations were a good agreement with the literature data.

  • In track a third weakness point is joint part, turnout part, curve part. One of them joint part of rail have been known to the most weak point by loosen of joint bar and fish bolt due to impulse and vibration by wheel contact at times. In addition happen to deformation and failure at end of rail, failure and miniature of ballast gravel. Finally impact between wheel and rail become origin cause of a welded rail, noise and vibration. riding condition deterioration, besides track failure. In the present domestic, Thermite and Gas pressure weldings have been used to continuous welded rail(CWR), however stiffness and confidence in quality is lower than Flash butt welding method. FRW have the excellent capacity, however have a shortcoming large scale of machine and power equipment. Therefore we will introduce Mobile Flash Butt Welder can weld in track.

  • The lower flash points for the n-pentanol+n-propionic acid and n-pentanol+n-butyric acid systems, in air at atmospheric pressure, were measured by using Pensky-Martens closed cup apparatus. The experimental data were compared with the values calculated by the Raoult's law and optimization method. The calculated values based on the optimization method were found to be better than those based on the Raoult's law.

The Flash Points of the Butylacetate+2-Propanol System Measured By Air Blowing Tester

  • The lower and upper flash points of the flammable binary system, butylacetate+2-propanol were measured by air blowing tester. The shape of the concentration-temperature region of flash depended on the components of the mixture in solution. The experimental data were compared with the values calculated by the reduced model under an ideal solution assumption and the flash point-prediction models based on Van Laar equation. Good qualitative agreement was obtained with these models. The prediction results of these models can thus be applied to incorporate inherently safer design for chemical process, such as the determination of the safe storage conditions for flammable solutions.

  • The evaluation AP embedded Linux board is implemented. The board is made of IBM 405 GP processor, PPCBoot-1.2.1 boot loader, Linux-2.4.21 kernel and root file system. The evaluation board has two flash memories, boot flash and application flash of size 512Kbyte and 16Mbyte, respectively. And it supports IEEE 802.11a which provide the maximum throughput of 54Mbps in the 5.2GHz frequency band. MTD(Memory Technology Device) and JFFS2(Journalling Flash File System version 2) technologies are adopted to optimally package the system software, boot loader, kernel and root file system. And in order to optimize root file system, busybox package and tiny login are used. Linux kernel and root file system is combined together with mkimage utility.

  • For the safe handling of cyclopentanol, this study was investigated the explosion limits of cyclopentanol in the reference data. The flash points and AITs(auto-ignition temperatures) by ignition delay time were experimented. The lower flash point of cyclopentanol by using closed-cup cyclopentanol was experimented at $49^{\circ}C$. The lower flash points of cyclopentanol by using open cup tester was experimented at $59^{\circ}C$. This study measured relationship between the AITs and the ignition delay times by using ASTM E659 tester for cyclopentanol. The experimental AIT of cyclopentanol was at $363 ^{\circ}C$.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influence of form-oil on steam-cured concrete surface condition. Based, viscosity(high, medium, low) and flash point($26^{\circ}C$, $70^{\circ}C$) of form oil were considered as test variables. The digital image process method was applied for the extraction of air-void area from concrete surface. Test result showed that oil-based form oil reduced air-void by approximately 46% compared to water-based form oil, and the higher the viscosity was, the smaller air-void rate was. In addition, it was conformed that flash point of form oil had a considerable influence on the surface condition of steam-cured concrete.

  • Because of the vertical combustion characteristics of combustible substances, accurate substance safety information for their safe use, handling and transportation is essential. The flash point, fire point, explosion limits and autoignition temperature (AIT) are important safety parameters which need special attention in chemical plants and laboratories that handle dangerous materials. In this study, tert-butylbenzene which is widely used as an intermediate material in the chemical industry was selected. For the reliability of the flammable properties of tert-butylbenzene, this study was investigated the explosion limits of tert-butylbenzene in the reference data. The flash points, fire points and AITs by the ignition delay time for tert-butylbenzene were experimented. The lower flash points of tert-butylbenzene by using the Setaflash and Pensky-Martens closed-cup testers measured $39^{\circ}C$ and $44^{\circ}C$, respectively. The flash points of tert-butylbenzene by using the Tag and Cleveland open cup testers are measured $51^{\circ}C$ and $54^{\circ}C$. And the fire points of tert-butylbenzene by the Tag and Cleveland open cup testers were $54^{\circ}C$ and $58^{\circ}C$ respectively. The AIT of tert-butylbenzene measured by the ASTM 659E tester was measured as $450^{\circ}C$. The lower explosion limit of $39^{\circ}C$ which measured by the Setaflash flash point tester was calculated to be 0.68 vol%.
