부상화염에서 연료유량에 따른 화염전파속도와 체적연소반응속도의 변화 특성에 관한 연구 (The Characteristics of the Flame Propagation Velocity and Volume Integral of Reaction Rate with the Variation of Fuel Injection Velocity for a Liftoff Flame)

  • A numerical analysis of reactive flow in a liftoff flame is accomplished to elucidate the characteristics of flame propagation velocity and volume integral of reaction rate with the variation of fuel injection velocity at the fuel rich region, fuel lean region and diffusion flame region. The increase of fuel injection velocity enhances flame propagation velocity, but its effect on the flame propagation velocity is not much greater under 4%. The increase of fuel injection velocity affects directly and linearly on the flame surface area in the fuel rich region and so enhances volume integral of reaction rate to accommodate the increment of fuel.

부상화염에서 화염 곡률반경 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flame Curvature Characteristics in a Lifted Flame)

  • 삼지화염의 화염안정화 메커니즘 중 중요한 한 가지는 화염전파속도이다. 화염전파속도의 정량적인 규명을 위해 Bilger는 층류 유동이론에 근거하여 혼합분율 기울기에 비선형적으로 연관된 삼지화염 전파속도를 실험으로 제시하였다. 그러나 지금까지의 연구에서는 화염의 곡률에 따른 삼지화염 전파속도에 관하여 논의된 바가 없기에, 본 논문에서 화염의 곡률에 따른 화염전파속도의 연관성을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 논문의 결과로 층류부상화염의 부상높이가 연료의 출구속도와 노즐의 직경에 따라서 결정됨을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 정지된 부상화염의 유동속도에 비례하는 연료의 출구속도에 곡률의 크기가 비례함을 보였고, 또 층류부상화염의 부상높이가 높아질수록 곡률반경의 크기가 커짐을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 곡률효과의 중요성이 인식되어야 하며 화염안정화 메커니즘을 표현하기 위해 제안된 Bilger의 제안식이 곡률효과를 고려하여 수정되어야한다.

  • 삼지화염의 화염안정화 메커니즘 중 중요한 한 가지는 화염전파속도이다. 화염전파속도의 정량적인 규명을 위해 Bilger는 층류 유동이론에 근거하여 혼합분율 기울기에 비선형적으로 연관된 삼지화염전파속도를 제시하였다. 그러나 지금까지의 연구에서는 화염의 곡률 반경과 스칼라소산율에 따른 삼지화염 전파속도에 관하여 논의된 바가 없으며, 본 논문에서는 수치해석을 통해 화염전파속도에 따른 화염의 곡률반경과 스칼라소산율의 관계를 살펴보았다. 본 논문의 결과로 연료의 노즐 출구속도에 따라 화염전파속도가 거의 선형적으로 변화됨을 알 수 있었다. 또 화염전파속도에 따라 스칼라소산율은 비선형적인 감소를 보였으며, 곡률반경은 거의 선형적인 변화를 보임을 알 수 있었다. 또 스칼라소산율에 따른 곡률 반경의 경우 비선형적인 감소를 보였다. 따라서 화염전파속도와 스칼라소산율 및 화염의 곡률반경 사이에 직접적인 연관성이 있는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The lift-off characteristics of the triple flame within a diverging duct have been studied experimentally using a multi-slot burner, which can control the concentration gradient and the mean velocity independently. In this experiment the triple flame was stabilized successfully in lift-off condition and flame stabilization with a duct or without a duct, lift-off heights, and some other characteristics were examined for propane flame. It was examined that the effects with various concentration gradient and mean velocity on the triple flame. It was found that minimum value of the lift-off heights exist at a certain concentration gradient for constant mean velocity and flame with a duct is more stable than that without. Moreover the propagation velocity of the flame becomes maximum at a certain concentration gradient regardless of mean velocity.

제트확산화염과 예혼합화염의 다양한 속도 섭동에 대한 응답 특성 (A Study on Response Characteristics of Jet-diffusion Flame and Premixed Flame with Various Velocity Perturbations)

  • An experimental study investigates the flame response characteristics of jet-diffusion flame and premixed flame. The experiment was conducted while varying the amplitude. Flame lengths were quantified for OH chemiluminescence measurement and compared with the result of the flame transfer function. Flame length and flame velocity perturbation were normalized and compared with the result of the flame transfer function. The comparison results appear that velocity perturbation and flame length oscillation of premixed flame show linear behaviors on the other hand jet-diffusion flame, amplitudes are more thant 0.20, shows nonlinear behaviors of flame velocity perturbation and flame length oscillation.

부상된 수소 난류확산화염의 화염구조 (Flame Structure of a Liftoff Non-Premixed Turbulent Hydrogen Jet with Coaxial Air)

  • To understand hydrogen jet liftoff height, the stabilization mechanism of turbulent lifted jet flames under non-premixed conditions was studied. The objectives were to determine flame stability mechanisms, to analyze coexistence of two different flame structure, and to characterize the lifted jet at the flame stabilization point. Hydrogen flow velocity varied from 100 to 300 m/s. Coaxial air velocity was changed from 12 to 20 m/s. Simultaneous velocity field and reaction zone measurements used, PIV/OH PLIF techniques with Nd:YAG lasers and CCD/ICCD cameras. Liftoff height decreased with the increase of fuel velocity. The flame stabilized in a lower velocity region next to the faster fuel jet due to the mixing effects of the coaxial air flow. The flame stabilization was related to turbulent intensity and strain rate assuming that combustion occurs where local flow velocity and turbulent flame propagation velocity are balanced. At the flame base, two different flame structures were found that was the partial premixed flames and premixed flame.

  • The lift-off characteristics of the triple flame have been studied experimentally with various mean velocities and concentration gradients using a multi-slot burner, which can control the concentration gradient and the mean velocity independently, Lift-off height, axial maximum velocity, flame temperature, and some other characteristics were examined for methane and propane flame, It was found that minimum values of the lift-off heights exist at a certain concentration gradient for constant mean velocity, and this result implies that the propagation velocity has a maximum value at this condition, OH radical distribution was measured with LIF method and velocity variation along streamline was measured with PlV system. In addition maximum temperature along streamline was measured with CARS system. The intensity of the diffusion flame affects on the propagation velocity of triple flame in the region of very weak concentration gradient.

스월유동장의 화염전파에 미치는 난류특성의 영향에 관한 연구 (A study on the influence of turbulence characteristics on flame propagation in swirl flow field)

  • Flow velocity was measured using a hot wire anemometer. Turbulence intensity was in proportion to mean flow velocity regardless of swirl velocity. And integral length scale has proportional relation with swirl velocity regardless of measurement position. Flame speed calculated by radius of visualized flame was increased and then decreased according to lapse of time from spark. Maximum flame speed was increased according to increase of turbulence intensity. Burning speed and flame transport effect increased with increase of swirl velocity, but ratio of burning speed to flame speed decreased with increased of swirl velocity. Mass fraction burned versus volume fraction burned was increased in proportion to the increase of turbulence intensity, caused by increase of combustion promotion effect according to increase of turbulence intensity and scale.

  • Many previous researches on the premixed flame in a tube have treated the unsteady flame behaviors in which the shape, position and intensity of the flame varied, but more detail and fundamental research has been necessary. The flame stabilization condition in a tube, a unique steady state, and the unsteady behaviors, using the stabilization condition as an initial condition, were carried out in recent years. In this paper, propane-air premixed flame was stabilized in a tube and the flame behavior was observed when the mean velocity variation was imposed into the opposite direction of the initial mean velocity. The velocity variation is larger than the burning velocity and longer than the reaction time scale. During the period of the velocity variation flame is not extinguished. But after the period of the mean velocity variation the flame could be re-stabilized or be extinguished depending on the experimental conditions: equivalence ratio, period of velocity variation and magnitude of velocity variation. The extinction mechanisms were classified into the two cases, one is caused by the flame stretch in the shear layer near the wall, and the other is caused by the vortices and vortexes, which are generted by the acoustic waves.

연료노즐 출구에서의 속도 형상에 따른 부상화염 높이 및 화염구조에 관한 수치해석 연구 (A Numerical Analysis of Flame Liftoff Height and Structure with the Variation of Velocity Profiles at the Nozzle Exit)

  • 삼지화염과 포와젤(Poiseuille) 및 균일분포 연료출구 속도에 따른 부상화염의 부상거동 그리고 화염면 부근에서의 연소 유동 특성에 대하여 수치적 해석을 수행하였다. 부상화염에 대한 수치해석으로 기존 연구 결과를 검정하고 화염대 부근에서 구조적 특성을 살펴보며 포와젤 및 균일분포 연료출구속도 조건에서 운동량 유속으로 부상높이를 일반화하여 비교하였다. 또한 화염면 부근에서 속도, 압력, 온도, 화학반응속도 등으로 연소 유동 특성을 분석하고 규명하였다. 특히 중심선을 따른 속도 변화의 경우 노즐에서 화염대 부근까지는 전형적인 비반응제트 유동에 따른 속도 분포를 형성하지만 화염대 직전에서 속도가 급격히 감소하다가 화염대를 지나면서 급격히 증가한 후에 다시 감소하는 현상을 규명하였다. 화염대 전의 유동영역에서는 화염대가 장애물역할을 하다가 화염대를 지나고 나면 유동을 가속시켜주는 역할을 하고 있기 때문이다. 이러한 현상은 기존의 비반응 제트 유동으로 규명하지 못하였던 것이다.
