We came to the conculsion after considering all of information from many kinds of books on the cause, pathogenesis and treatment of Flaccidity-syndrome. The results were as follows : 1. Flaccidity-syndrome means limb-relaxation due to muscle atony that isn't able to constraction. It's begun as mild degree from extremities, in some cases ended to quadriplegia or expire. 2. Cause factor and pathogenesis of Flaccidity-syndrome is various. After Lung fluid consuption caused by heat-evil was refered in The Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine. They were refered as cause factor that Main channel asthenia, excess of sexual intercourse, wetness-evil, heat-evil gets into the interior, asthenia of the spleen and stomach. Since Ming Dynasty, It's classified to wetness-heat evil, wetness-phlegm, deficiency of vital energy, deficiency of blood, deficiency of yin, blood stasis and indygestion, etc. 3. In the view of treatment of Flaccidity-syndrome, Yangming was selected in The Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine, and it's been mean to clear away wetness-heat evil located at Yangming. In the method of acupuncture it was same on the base, and many skills have been used that electronic acupuncture, point-injection theraphy, acupuncture point block, catgut implantaion at acupuncture point, cutaneous acupuncture, auriculo-acupuncture and head acupuncture by the through post generation. 4. Flaccidity-syndrome was defined to weak, disuse and non-pain. Beacause it was non-pain, so medicine to expel wind-evil was prevented to use. But through post generation Flaccidity-syndrome has been treated that is able to cause pain or numness as arthralgia-syndrome. Therefore there is tendency that medicine to expel wind-evil is capable within pathological basement of Flaccidity-syndrome in recent. 5. In the view of west-medicine, Flaccidity-syndrome is diplegia or quadriplegia with sensory disorder, muscle atropy in some cases. And there are spinal disease, peripheral nerve disease, muscular disease, nerve-muscle copula disease. The symptoms are able to amyotomia, numness, sensory disorder, pain.

In this case, it is considered that the cause of the lower limb Flaccidity-syndrome is the peripheral neuropathy accompanied with inflammation and in oriental medicine, it is understood that the factors such as lung fluid consumption caused by heat-evil, wetness-heat evil cause the lower limb Flaccidity-syndrome. Because the peripheral neuropathy is regarded as a neuropathy with a series of inflammation reaction producing inflammatory neuropeptides such as substance P, prostaglandin ect., in western medicine, nonsteroidal antiinflammation drug;NASID, lidocaine, capsaicine are prescribed to control this neuropathy. In the view of treatment of the lower limb weakness, Wooseul-tangkami is used to remove the wetness-heat evil and we had a electronic acupuncture on the Yangmyung channel(陽明經) selected in The Yellow Emperor's of internal Medicine and also on Panggwang channel(膀胱經) considered as painful lesion. We experineced a case of the lower limb Flaccidity-syndrome diagnosed as the peripheral neuropathy the patient was treated by wooseul-tangkami, a acupuncture on Yangmyung channel and also Panggwang channel and had a significant improvement in gait ability and the range of motion.

Objectives : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelination disease of central nervous system, presenting a various neurological disorders depending on the lesion. In the view of oriental medicine, MS is similar to Flaccidity-syndrome(痿證). Also, since MS is a chronic disease which repeats the recurrences with periods of remission of the symptoms in between, it may usually be accompanied by depression. However, the etiology, treatment, and cause of recurrence of MS remain unknown, and also, as the recurrences of MS have been repeated, disease burden has been accumulated, which aggravates disorder. This case of MS experienced depression after the patient had been diagnosed as bad consequence based on the past 5 times recurrences of multiple sclerosis. Methods : We saw the causes as vicera and bowels functional disorder which might have come from a poor diet. Thus, we diagnosed this case as dual deficiency of spleen and kidney(脾腎兩虛), stagnant qi transforming into fire(氣鬱化火) and liver-kidney deficiency(肝腎不足) and treated it with Herb medication, acupuncture therapy, and supportive therapy, making the patient better. Results : We have improved the patient's condition to the time before 5th recurrence. Conclusions : This result suggests that our oriental medical treatments was effective on multiple sclerosis with depression.

Objective : Mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke like episodes (MELAS) syndrome is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. The typical presentation of patients with MELAS syndrome includes features such as mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke like episodes. Other features, such as seizures, diabetes mellitus, hearing loss, cardiac disease, short stature, endocrinopathies, exercise intolerance, and neuropsychiatric dysfunction are clearly part of the disorder. Approximately 80% of patients with the clinical characteristics of MELAS syndrome have a genetic mutation. This progressive disorder is reported to have a high morbidity and mortality. This case report is intended to estimate clinical effects of oriental meedicinal treatment of MELAS syndrome. Methods : A 44 year old female patient diagnosed as MELSA syndrome was treated with general oriental medicinal therapy including acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, pharmacupunture and herbal medication in 20XX in Wonkwang Medical Center Gwangju. And the changes in symptoms and signs were evaluated as time dependently. Results : Although there is currently no curable treatment and MEALS syndrome is tend to progress, our treatment showed improvement in general weakness, gait disturbance and pain in the patient. Conclusion : Our case report suggests that various oriental medicinal treatment could be effective for improvement of MELAS syndrome and may represent a new potential therapeutic approach to control the disease. It could be applied to improve general condition, prevent relapse, enhance the quality of life and reduce complaints in the patient.

Following conclusions are drawn from study about Yukmigiwhangwon through referring to literatures and reviewing in the point of Hyungsang medicine. Yukmigiwhangwon was prescribed by Jeon Eul in order to cure five kinds of flaccidity of infants, but after since then it has been basically applied to symptoms which was caused by deficiency of the kidney not only infants but also adult. The deficiency of kidney is the lack of vital essence and body fluid stored in kidney, it happens because infants are born in the conditions of lack of receiving in the womb. And it happens because adults infringe the rules of life, especially the sexual life. Main symptoms of the poverty of renal functions are emptiness of the brain marrow, dizziness, forgetfulness, tinnitus, deafness, vertigo and dim eyesight, insomnia, the low back and knees aching and limping, heat on the legs, tibia aching, nocturnal emission, dry mouth, reddened tongue and little coating or non coating of the 'tongue, weak blood meridians. the treating method is nourishing Eum and supplementing kidney. In Dongeuibogam Yukmigiwhangwon is mentioned in the parts of vital essence, blood, voice, kidney, urine, eye, ear, the low back, hair, fire, exhaustion syndrome, cough, polydipsia, infant, etc. The shapes which Yukmigiwhangwon is applied to are the Dam Body Doing deficiency of Eum due to excess of Yang, man, infant, Jung type, Fish group, reverse triangular shape, big headed man, big eared man, big mouthed man, man having prominent cheekbones, man having long waist, man having big hips, man with thick hair or white hair, man with bald on the head, etc. In color it is applied to darkish complexion, flushed tip of the nose, or flushed cheek bones. Through inquiring into the clinical cases on the points of Hyungsang medicine Yukmigiwhangwon is efficacious cure to lumbago, symptoms of tendons and bones, symptoms of eyes and ears, symptoms of respiratory organs, dermatopathia, headache, polydipsia, urinary disorders, etc.

This Chapter mentioned Terror and Palpitation due to Fright(驚悸) and Hemorrhagic disease(血證). Terror and Palpitation due to FrightAcctually Terror(驚) is different from Palpitation(悸). Terror(驚) is one of the seven emotions. But in this case, It refer to the Palpitation and the uneasiness of mind due to one's hearing a strange sound of seeing a strange. Tremulous Pulse can be appear. So Terror(驚) is caused by Exopathic Factors(外因) and belongs to Excess syndrome(實證). Palpitaion(悸) is the sensation of plamus, palpitation and unrest not because of being frightened. It is usurally caused by the deficiency of Ki(氣) and blood(血). So Deep, Thready and weak pulse can be appear. So Palpitaion(悸) is caused by Endopathic Factors and belongs to Deficiency Syndrome. In this Chapter, Terror and Palpitation due to Fright(驚悸) treat with the Kyeji-ke-jakyak-ka-chokchil-moryu-yongkol-kuyuk-tang(桂枝去芍藥加蜀漆牡蠣龍骨救逆湯) and Banha-mahwang-hwan(半夏麻黃丸). There are two type in Hemorrhagic disease(血證). One is bleeding(出血) and another is blood stasis(瘀血). The contents which relate with the Hemorrhagic disease(血證) are Hematemisis(吐血), Rhinorrhagia, Hemafecia(下血). In hemorrhage pathological mechanisms, there are two mechanisms. One is that Fire and Heat(火熱) pressure blood. Another is that cold and deficiency(虛寒) disable Ki(氣) from keeping blood flowing within vessels. Blood stasis(瘀血) can be called Extravasated Blood(惡血), Coagulated Blood, Blood retention(蓄血,積血), Dead Blood(死血) and Emaciation due to Blood disorder(乾血). It refer to a morbid state of unsmooth circulation and blood stagnancy often resulting from Ki(氣) stagnation, Ki(氣) deficiency and accumulation of pathogenic coldness. The symptom of Blood stasis are 'Fullness sensation in the chest, Lip Flaccidity, Cyonotic Tongue and Dryness of Mouth'. And the man who have Blood stasis, want to rinse his mouth with the water, but he can't drink the water because there isn't interior Heat of Excess Type. The symptom of Cyonotic Tongue(舌靑) had influence on diagnosing Blood stasis(瘀血) in offspring.

I have come to next conclusions in consequence of documentary study about medical books of many generations regarding venesection therapy. 1. Venesection therapy is much used for five sensory organ disease. Besides that internal disease, pain paralysis disease of muscle and joints, sugical disease, disease of woman and children, fever sunstroke CVA emergency case follow that in the order of frequency of use. 2. It is used for swollen tongue, eye pain, pharyngitis, swelling and pain in the throat, bleeding from the eye ear nose mouth or subcutaneous tissue, tonsillitis, aphthae and so on in the five sensory organ disease. Focus, sosang, jinjin yuye, taiyang, baihui are used for five sensory organ disease in the order of frequency of use. 3. It is used for malaria, headache, precordial pain, head-wind, abdominal colic, diseases characterized by acute diarrhea and vomiting, and so on in the Internal disease. Superficial venules and lymph vessesls, taiyang, quze are used for Internal disease in the order of frequency of use. 4. It is used for low back pain, hypochondriac pain, numbness, knee pain, tinea pedis, red swelling pain of hand and arm, flaccidity-syndrome, and so on in the pain paralysis disease of muscle and joints. Weizhong, superficial venules and lymph vessesls, Ashi point, zhigou are used for pain paralysis disease of muscle and joints in the order of frequency of use. 5. It is used for furuncle, tinea capitis, and so on in the sugical disease. Focus, weizhong are used for sugical disease in the order of frequency of use. 6. It is used for inflammatory disease with redness of skin, and so on in the disease of woman and children. Focus, weizhong, yanglingquan, yaoshu, sanyinjiao are used for disease of woman and children in the order of frequency of use. 7. It is used for fever, CVA, sunstroke, cadaverous coma, common cold, and so on in the fever sunstroke CVA emergency case. Sosang, weizhong, chize are used for fever sunstroke CVA emergency case in the order of frequency of use. 8. The urinary bladder channel of foot-taiyang is most used. Next there are the du channel, the stomach channel of foot-yangming, the lung channel of hand-taiyin, the gall baldder channel of foot-shaoyang, the triple-warmer channel of hand-shaoyang, the large intestine channel of hand-yangming, the spleen channel of foot-taiyin, the kidney channel of foot-shaoyin the pericardium channel of hand-jueyin the liver channel of foot-jueyin, the ren channel, the heart channel of hand-shaoyin, the small intestine channel of hand-taiyang in the order of frequency in use. 9. Superficial venules and lymph vessesls, focus, five shu points, extra-point, back point are used in the venesection therapy, those are characteristic of locating an acupuncture point.
