  • In this development, By using the phase array antenna, the beam around was electronically revolved and the marine fixed type radar of which the detection is possible was made and the check around was tested. There are the risk of the corrosion because of the abrasion of the axis of rotation and salinity with the way that the existing marine pulse radar detects the check by using the mechanical rotation. Besides, the maintenance cost of the magnetron gets to happen by using the detection signal. In this development, The fixed type radar of the low output which revolves electronically around the beam by using the radar signal processing method of the phase array antenna using the phase shifter and FMCW(Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) method was made. And by using the fixed type radar, the check detection test was conducted.

  • The accident of the small vessel is increasing due to the growth of the sea and service industry. According to data from National Statistical Office, for 100 ton less than small ship accident, the most of the shipping incident generated in the small ship by 84% of the total shipping incident in 2015. The radar obligatory mounting is enforced to the small vessel in order to conclude this problem. However, the problems including the maintenance cost and transmission power etc. happens high if the existing pulse radar is mounted in the small vessel. In this development, the development is for small ship fixed type radar the object. And in this paper, by using the phase array antenna revolving electronically around the beam, the antenna which it is applicable to the marine fixed type radar which can solve above problem was made and it tested.

  • By virtue of Rec. ITU-R P.1546 and geography information system, interference analysis for the fixed wireless system and radar has been presented based upon the frequency-distance rules with minimum coupling loss, and a comprehensive methodology for assessing interoperability between systems was examined in terms of received signal, protection ratio, frequency dependent rejection. Also to find the antenna gain from a discrimination angle, a useful S-I plane was introduced based on signal and interference vectors derived from the real map with geographic information. To show some computational results, geography information on the map was taken for the given area, and field strength and path profile were illustrated for the radar and fixed wireless system operating at 2.7 GHz, for convenience. In addition the interference effect of receiver was also checked as a function of radar beam direction including protection ratio and frequency dependent rejection. The developed interference analysis can be actually applied to evaluate interoperability for wireless systems in the VHF and UHF bands.

  • Abruptly occurred obstacles on highway threaten driving safety. Radar draws the attention to the collision avoidance system because it can be fully operational in all weather, and day and night condition. This paper presents the design, implementation and performance test results of pulsed Doppler radar system for detection and warning of road obstacles. The system is designed to consider highway environment and detection capability about various fixed and moving obstacles. The system consists of 4 subsystems, which include antenna unit, transmitter and receiver unit, radar signal & data processing unit, and controller & display unit. The core technologies include clutter map based change detection for fixed obstacles detection, Doppler estimation for velocity detection of moving targets, and azimuth angle estimation method using monopulse for lane estimation and tracking. The design performance of the developed radar system is verified through experiments using a fixed reference target and moving vehicles in test highway.

  • Semi-supervised learning is a good way to train a classification model using a small number of labeled and large number of unlabeled data. We applied semi-supervised learning to a synthetic aperture radar(SAR) image classification model with a limited number of datasets that are difficult to create. To address the previous difficulties, semi-supervised learning uses a model trained with a small amount of labeled data to generate and learn pseudo labels. Besides, a lot of number of papers use a single fixed threshold to create pseudo labels. In this paper, we present a semi-supervised synthetic aperture radar(SAR) image classification method that applies different thresholds for each class instead of all classes sharing a fixed threshold to improve SAR classification performance with a small number of labeled datasets.

  • Foreign object debris (FOD) is a generic term for all substances that may pose a threat to aircraft operations on a runway. In the past, FOD detection and collection methods using human resources were very inefficient in terms of efficiency and economics, so it is essential to develop an unmanned FOD detection system suitable for domestic use. In this paper, the fixed FOD automatic detection system and mobile FOD automatic detection system using EO camera and radar were studied and developed at the Taean airfield of Hanseo University, and fixed and mobile method were operated to confirm that automatic FOD detection in the runway of the airfield is possible regardless of illumination and weather conditions.

  • This paper is meaningful as the first case where a 4 - sided hull-fixed phased array radar was installed on a mast separated from Korea and the alignment was verified. The mechanical alignment method was studied for accurately mounting two separate masts for naval ships and the 3D scanner for alignment. Hull-fixed phased array radar uses very high frequency, so the short wavelength can cause a phase difference of the device due to the small positional error. Since the array antenna is fixed with the hull, it has higher accuracy control than the rotary radar for 4 array surfaces. The study describes a method of checking the flatness of two radar masts manufactured at a factory, a method of aligning masts in a shipyard, and a method of aligning four array pad mounting surfaces. As a tool for this, a 3D laser scanner and a software-based method for comparing survey results with 3D CAD are used. This paper is meaningful as the first example of installing a four-sided hull-fixed phased array radar on a separate mast from a Korean naval ship and deriving a mechanical alignment method.

  • The potential use of ranging sensors for reducing the occurrence of accidents in real environment is explored by many companies and laboratories. Most of the sensors under investigation utilize the FMCW(Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) waveforms. The automotive environment presents to the FMCW radar sensor a multitude of moving and fixed targets and the sensor must detect and track only the targets which may pose a threat of collision or passengers accident. The sensor must function accurately in the presence of background echoes generated by moving and fixed targets, ground reflections, atmospheric noises, including rains, fog, and, snow and noise generated within the receiver. False detection of the desired target in this environment may issue false alarms. That may be dangerous to the passenger and the vehicle. A high false alarm rate is totally unacceptable. The false alarm mechanism consists of noise peaks, crossing the threshold and the undesired response of the system to off lane targets which are not potentially hazardous to the radar equipped vehicle. This paper presents an improve technique safety performance for driver-less operation using FMCW radar sensors.

  • Securing transportation safety infrastructure technology for Lv.4 connected autonomous driving is very important for the spread of autonomous vehicles, and the safe operation of level 4 autonomous vehicles in adverse weather has limitations due to the development of vehicle-only technology. We developed the radar-enabled AI convergence transportation entities detection system. This system is mounted on fixed and mobile supports on the road, and provides excellent autonomous driving situation recognition/determination results by converging transportation entities information collected from various monitoring sensors such as 60GHz radar and EO/IR based on artificial intelligence. By installing such a radar-enabled AI convergence transportation entities detection system on an autonomous road, it is possible to increase driving efficiency and ensure safety in adverse weather. To secure competitive technologies in the global market, the development of four key technologies such as ① AI-enabled transportation situation recognition/determination algorithm, ② 60GHz radar development technology, ③ multi-sensor data convergence technology, and ④ AI data framework technology is required.
