Spatial Interpolation of Rainfall by Areal Reduction Factor (ARF) Analysis for Hancheon Watershed

  • The storm water management and drainage relation are the key variable that plays a vital role on hydrological design and risk analysis. These require knowledge about spatial variability over a specified area. Generally, design rainfall values are expressed from the fixed point rainfall, which is depth at a specific location. Concurrently, determine the areal rainfall amount is also very important. Therefore, a spatial rainfall interpolation (point rainfall converting to areal rainfall) can be solved by areal reduction factor (ARF) estimation. In mainland of South Korea, for dam design and its operation, public safety, other surface water projects concerned about ARF for extreme hydrological events. In spite of the long term average rainfall (2,061 mm) and increasing extreme rainfall events, ARF estimation is also essential for Jeju Island's water control structures. To meet up this purpose, five fixed rainfall stations of automatic weather stations (AWS) near the "Hancheon Stream Watershed" area has been considered and more than 50 years of high quality rainfall data have been analyzed for estimating design rainfall. The relationship approach for the 24 hour design storm is assessed based on ARF. Furthermore, this presentation will provide an outline of ARF standards that can be used to assist the decision makers and water resources engineers for other streams of Jeju Island.

접촉점에서의 국소 그래프 패턴에 의한 필기체 한글의 자소분리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Phoneme Segmentation of Handwritten Korean Characters by Local Graph Patterns on Contacting Points)

  • In this paper, a new method of phoneme segmentation of handwritten Korean characters using the local graph pattern is proposed. At first, thinning was performed before extracting features. End-point, inflexion-point, branch-point and cross-point were extracted as features. Using these features and the angular relations between these features, local graph pattern was made. When local graph pattern is made, the of strokes is investigated on contacting point. From this process, pattern is simplified as contacting pattern of the basic form and the contacting form we must take into account can be restricted within fixed region, 4therefore phoneme segmentation not influenced by characters form and any other contact in a single character is performed as matching this local graph pattern with base patterns searched ahead. This experiments with 540 characters have been conducted. From the result of this experiment, it is shown that phoneme segmentation is independent of characters form and other contact in a single character to obtain a correct segmentation rate of 95%, manages it efficiently to reduce the time spent in lock operation when the lock.

  • 본 논문에서는 휴대 정보기기 시스템에서 더욱 향상된 실시간 3D 그래픽 가속 능력을 갖는 SoC(System on a Chip) 구현을 위해 효과적인 T&L(Transform & Lighting) Processor 구조를 연구하였다. T&L 과정에 필요한 IP들을 설계하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 SoC Platform 기반으로 검증하였다. 설계된 T&L Processor는 24 bits 부동소수점 형식과 16 bits 고정소수점 형식을 적절하게 혼용하고 계산식의 병렬성을 최대한 활용하여 Transform 과정 연산과 Lighting 과정 연산의 지연시간을 균일하게 배분하여 Transform 과정만 처리할 때와 Lighting과 혼용으로 처리할 때 연산 속도의 차이가 없이 동작이 가능하다. 설계된 T&L Processor는 SoC 플랫폼을 이용하여 성능 측정 실험 및 검증을 하였고, Xilinx-Virtex4 FPGA에서 80 MHz의 동작 주파수를 확인하였고 초당 20M개의 정점(Vertex) 처리 성능을 확인하였다.

  • An AMR(Adaptive Multi-Rate) speech coding algorithm has been adopted as a standard speech codec for IMT-2000. It is based on the algebraic CELP, and consists of eight speech coding modes having the bit rate from 4.75 kbit/s to 12.2 kbit/s. It also contains the VAD(Voice Activity Detector), SCR (Source Controlled Rate) operation, and error concealment scheme for robustness in a radio channel. The bit rate of AMR is changed on a frame basis depending on the channel condition. In this paper, we introduced AMR speech coding algorithm and performed the real-time implementation using TMS320C6201, i.e., a Texas Instrument's fixed-point DSP. With the ANSI C source code released from ETSI and 3GPP, we convert and optimize the program to make it run in real time using the C compiler and assembly language. It is verified that the decoded result of the implemented speech codec on the DSP is identical with the PC simulation result using ANSI C code for test sequences. Also, actual sound input/output test using microphone and speaker demonstrates its proper real-time operation without distortions or delays.

  • This paper describes the fixed-point DSP implementation of a CELP(code-excited linear prediction)-based speech coder. The effective realization methodologies to maximize the utilization of the DSP's architectural features, specifically Parallel movement and pipelining are also presented together with the implementation results targeted for the ITU-T standard G.723.1 using Motorola DSP56309. The operation of the implemented speech coder is verified using the test vectors offered by the standard as well as using the peripheral interface circuits designed for the coder's real-time operation.

빙해선박의 선수 선형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Bow Shape of Ice Breaking Vessel)

  • The operation scenarios, types of ice, draft and propulsion system are important design point on the beginning stage of the ice breaking vessel. The concept of hull form in ice breaking vessel has to compromise the performance according to the operation route especially if ship is operating in ice and ice free water. The several hull forms were proposed to optimize the capability of the vessel in this paper. The effect of hull form according to type of ice is also discussing and explaining the ice resistance in each ice type as like pack ice, brash ice, level ice, rubble ice and ice ridge. The draft effect was examined and propulsion system for example FPP(Fixed pitch propeller), CPP(Controllable pitch propeller) and POD system was compared focusing on the propulsion efficiency.

  • The function of the automatic train operation(ATO) system is to regulate the train ride comfort during start, acceleration and deceleration and execute operation of constant speed travelling and fixed point parking. The mathematical model for the train is presented by considering unknown disturbances which consist of start resistance, travelling resistance, slope resistance, curve resistance and so on. The speed control of ATO system is designed by considering the disturbances. The simulation is executed to verify the speed control performance and compare its performance with that of a PID-type ATO control system under the disturbances. Simulation results show that the control performance of gain scheduled control for ATO system is better than that of the conventional PID controller.

  • 기존의 2 채널 stereo의 한계를 극복하고 음의 입체감을 향상시키기 위해서 2 채널 이상의 다채널로 부호화하는 기법 중에서 Dolby Pro Logic 방식은 음의 입체감이나 분리도 측면에서 매우 우수한 방법으로 고 음질을 요구하는 Hi-Fi 음향 기기에 많이 채용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Dolby Pro Logic 복호기를 ARM-7 코어를 사용하여 최적화를 수행하고 이의 수행 시간과 정밀도를 측정하여 구현한 code의 타당성을 입증하였다.
