Objective: Litter size and piglet loss at birth significantly impact piglet production and are closely associated with sow parity. Understanding how these traits vary across different parities is crucial for effective herd management. This study investigates the patterns of the number of born alive piglets (NBA), number of piglet losses (NPL), and the proportion of piglet losses (PPL) at birth in Landrace sows under tropical conditions. Additionally, it aims to identify the most suitable model for describing these patterns. Methods: A dataset comprising 2,322 consecutive reproductive records from 258 Landrace sows, spanning parities from 1 to 9, was analyzed. Modeling approaches including 2nd and 3rd degree polynomial models, the Wood gamma function, and a longitudinal model were applied at the individual level to predict NBA, NPL, and PPL. The choice of the best-fitting model was determined based on the lowest mean and standard deviation of the difference between predicted and actual values, Akaike information criterion (AIC), and Bayesian information criterion (BIC). Results: Sow parity significantly influenced NBA, NPL, and PPL (p<0.0001). NBA increased until the 4th parity and then declined. In contrast, NPL and PPL decreased until the 2nd parity and then steadily increased until the 8th parity. The 2nd and 3rd degree polynomials, and longitudinal models showed no significant differences in predicting NBA, NPL, and PPL (p>0.05). The 3rd degree polynomial model had the lowest prediction standard deviation and yielded the smallest AIC and BIC. Conclusion: The 3rd degree polynomial model offers the most suitable description of NBA, NPL, and PPL patterns. It holds promise for applications in genetic evaluations to enhance litter size and reduce piglet loss at birth in sows. These findings highlight the importance of accounting for sow parity effects in swine breeding programs, particularly in tropical conditions, to optimize piglet production and sow performance.

Objective: To determine the usefulness of perfusion MR imaging in assessing the histologic grade of cerebral gliomas. Materials and Methods: In order to determine relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV), 22 patients with pathologically proven gliomas (9 glioblastomas, 9 anaplastic gliomas and 4 low-grade gliomas) underwent dynamic contrast-enhanced T2*-weighted and conventional T1- and T2-weighted imaging. rCBV maps were obtained by fitting a gamma-variate function to the contrast material concentration versus time curve. rCBV ratios between tumor and normal white matter (maximum rCBV of tumor / rCBV of contralateral white matter) were calculated and compared between glioblastomas, anaplastic gliomas and low-grade gliomas. Results: Mean rCBV ratios were 4.90°±1.01 for glioblastomas, 3.97°±0.56 for anaplastic gliomas and 1.75°±1.51 for low-grade gliomas, and were thus significantly different; p < .05 between glioblastomas and anaplastic gliomas, p < .05 between anaplastic gliomas and low-grade gliomas, p < .01 between glioblastomas and low-grade gliomas. The rCBV ratio cutoff value which permitted discrimination between high-grade (glioblastomas and anaplastic gliomas) and low-grade gliomas was 2.60, and the sensitivity and specificity of this value were 100% and 75%, respectively. Conclusion: Perfusion MR imaging is a useful and reliable technique for estimating the histologic grade of gliomas.

For the pressurized water reactor two-step calculation, the traditional assembly homogenization and two-group neutron diffusion calculation have been widely used. When it comes to the core pin-by-pin simulation, many models and techniques are different and unsettled. In this paper, the homogenization methods based on the pin discontinuity factors and super homogenization factors are used to get the pin-cell homogenized parameters. The heterogeneous leakage model is applied to modify the infinite flux spectrum of the single assembly with reflective boundary condition and to determine the diffusion coefficients for the SP3 solver which is used in the core simulation. To reduce the environment effect of the single-assembly reflective boundary condition, the online method for the SPH factors updating is applied in this paper, and the functionalization of SPH factors based on the least-squares method will be pre-made alone with the table of the group constants. The fitting function will be used to update the thermal-group SPH factors with a whole-core pin-by-pin homogeneous solution online. The three-dimensional Watts Bar Nuclear Unit 1 (WBN1) problem was utilized to test the performance of pin-by-pin calculation. And numerical results have demonstrated that PWR pin-by-pin core calculation has more accurate results compared with the traditional assembly-homogenization scheme.

The GPS satellite has three or four atomic clocks that consist of cesiums and rubidiums and the NANU messages can be used to identify the kind of the onboard atomic clock because they classify the clock type on a daily basis. In this study, for long-term analysis of the GPS satellite clock behavior, we extracted satellite clock errors for every PRN from years 2001 through 2009 using the SP3 files that are provided by the IGS. As a result, the cesium clock offsets usually have a linear trend of drifting. On the other hand, rubidium offsets show curvilinear variations in general, even though they cannot be represented as anyone specific polynomial function. For short-term analysis, we extracted satellite clock errors for each PRN for a week-long period using the CLK files that are also provided by the IGS and curve-fitted them with first-order and second-order polynomial functions. In cases of cesium clock errors, they were well-represented by first-order polynomial functions and rubidium clock errors were similar with second-order polynomials. However, some of rubidium clock errors could not be represented as any polynomial fitting function. To analyze the characteristic of GPS satellite by each block and atomic clock, we applied Modified Allan Deviation criterion to the dataset from years 2007 and 2010. We found that the Modified Allan Deviation characteristics changed significantly according the block and atomic clock type.
Monovision is defined as correcting one eye for distance vision and the other eye for near vision. Single-vision contact lenses are used for each eye. The patient selectively suppresses one eye while using the other eye. This study was performed to measure binocular function and patient satisfaction with monovision induced by adding +3.00D to spectacle prescription for distance vision in nonpresbyopic students. This study comprised 144 nonpresbyopic students with monovision induced by adding +3.00D to spectacle prescription. Monovision was induced by undercorrecting the nondominant eye by adding 3.00 diopters for near vision and correcting the dominant eye with emmetropia for distance vision. For research of the binocular function on Monovision. This study was tested the obstacle course, water pouring test, catching and throwing, bead classification including the stereopsis test. These tests were comparative to the normal binocular state. As a results, the stereopsis have a significant reductions in Monovision. There was no significantly difference between monovision group and control group in monovision exercise (obstacle course, water pouring test, catching and throwing, and bead sorting) at near and distance. This study indicates that monovision is an effective and reasonable therapeutic modality for correcting presbyopia. By the application of above methods, this study could be used the student for the practical practice and understand on the Monovison.

This paper proposed device-independent color matching algorithm based on the 3D RGB lookup table (LUT) between mobile camera and mobile LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) to improve the color-fidelity. Proposed algorithm is composed of thee steps, which is device characterization, gamut mapping, 3D RGB-LUT design. First, the characterization of mobile LCD is executed using the sigmoidal function, different from conventional method such as GOG (Gain Offset Gamma) and S-curve modeling, based on the observation of electro-optical transfer function of mobile LCD. Next, mobile camera characterization is conducted by fitting the digital value of GretagColor chart captured under the daylight environment (D65) and tristimulus values (CIELAB) using the polynomial regression. However, the CIELAB values estimated by polynomial regression exceed the maximum boundary of the CIELAB color space. Therefore, these values are corrected by linear compression of the lightness and chroma. Finally, gamut mapping is used to overcome the gamut difference between mobile camera and moible LCD. To implement the real-time processing, 3D RGB-LUT is designed based on the 3D RGB-LUT and its performance is evaluated and compared with conventional method.

Image resampling is of particular interest in digital radiology. When resampling an image to a new set of coordinate, there appears blocking artifacts and image changes. To enhance image quality, interpolation algorithms have been used. Resampling is used to increase the number of points in an image to improve its appearance for display. The process of interpolation is fitting a continuous function to the discrete points in the digital image. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the seven interpolation functions when image resampling in digital periapical images. The images were obtained by Digora, CDR and scanning of Ektaspeed plus periapical radiograms on the dry skull and human subject. The subjects were exposed to intraoral X-ray machine at 60kVp and 70 kVp with exposure time varying between 0.01 and 0.50 second. To determine which interpolation method would provide the better image, seven functions were compared; (1) nearest neighbor (2) linear (3) non-linear (4) facet model (5) cubic convolution (6) cubic spline (7) gray segment expansion. And resampled images were compared in terms of SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) and MTF(Modulation Transfer Function) coefficient value. The obtained results were as follows ; 1. The highest SNR value(75.96dB) was obtained with cubic convolution method and the lowest SNR value(72.44dB) was obtained with facet model method among seven interpolation methods. 2. There were significant differences of SNR values among CDR, Digora and film scan(P<0.05). 3. There were significant differences of SNR values between 60kVp and 70kVp in seven interpolation methods. There were significant differences of SNR values between facet model method and those of the other methods at 60kVp(P<0.05), but there were not significant differences of SNR values among seven interpolation methods at 70kVp(P>0.05). 4. There were significant differences of MTF coefficient values between linear interpolation method and the other six interpolation methods (P< 0.05). 5. The speed of computation time was the fastest with nearest -neighbor method and the slowest with non-linear method. 6. The better image was obtained with cubic convolution, cubic spline and gray segment method in ROC analysis. 7. The better sharpness of edge was obtained with gray segment expansion method among seven interpolation methods.
This paper presents a technique for estimating discharge rating curve parameters. In typical practical applications, the original non-linear rating curve is transformed into a simple linear regression model by log-transforming the measurement without examining the effect of log transformation. The model of pseudo-likelihood estimation is developed in this study to deal with heteroscedasticity of residuals in the original non-linear model. The parameters of rating curves and variance functions of errors are simultaneously estimated by the pseudo-likelihood estimation(P-LE) method. Simulated annealing, a global optimization technique, is adapted to minimize the log likelihood of the weighted residuals. The P-LE model was then applied to a hypothetical site where stage-discharge data were generated by incorporating various errors. Results of the P-LE model show reduced error values and narrower confidence intervals than those of the common log-transform linear least squares(LT-LR) model. Also, the limit of water levels for segmentation of discharge rating curve is estimated in the process of P-LE using the Heaviside function. Finally, model performance of the conventional log-transformed linear regression and the developed model, P-LE are computed and compared. After statistical simulation, the developed method is then applied to the real data sets from 5 gauge stations in the Geum River basin. It can be suggested that this developed strategy is applied to real sites to successfully determine weights taking into account error distributions from the observed discharge data.

The noise generated in the process of obtaining the medical image acts as the element obstructing the image interpretation and diagnosis. To restore the true image from the image polluted from the noise, the total variation optimization algorithm was proposed by the R.O. F (L.Rudin, S Osher, E. Fatemi). This method removes the noise by fitting the balance of the regularity and fidelity. However, the blurring phenomenon of the border area generated in the process of performing the iterative operation cannot be avoided. In this paper, we propose the adaptive total variation method by mapping the control parameter to the proposed transfer function for minimizing boundary error. The proposed transfer function is determined by the noise variance and the local property of the image. The proposed method was applied to 464 tooth images. To evaluate proposed method performance, PSNR which is a indicator of signal and noise's signal power ratio was used. The experimental results show that the proposed method has better performance than other methods.
Human being can't live without nature, then the changes of nature affect human body. It means that human body has corresponding changes to the KI(vital energy) of nature. There is a stream of changes in human body which circulate mysteriously and punctually by the laws of nature. If this stream of changes fits into human's life style, it would be most effective. It has a certain mode continuously. So if a person has a habit fitting into it, he will get the healthiest body. Then the researcher tries to explain the changes in human body by the time, mainly focused on within 24 hours. it is showing not only the oriental view, but also the western's. The researcher can find the coincidence as followings. At In-Si(3-5 am), the body function and the body temperature get to the bottom, therefore it's good for him to wake up and to run the vital energy. At Sa-Si(9-11 am), the patience on pain anxiety and the psychic concentration get to the top, he'd better start the work. At O-Si(11am-1pm), the heart energy has a vital move, then the blood concentration of Hb(hemoglobin) gets to the top. At Mi-Si(1-3 pm), the muscle strength, the squeeze, and the breathing rate increase. The reflex nerve sensitivity gets to the top. Creativity, observation, and working efficiency go high, so it's time to work hard. At Hae-Si(9pm-1am), the body function falls, sleeping is needed. At Chuck-Si(1-3 am), the cell spontaneity gets to the top, immune lymphocyte moves actively, and the blood concentration of growth hormone gets to the top. These are liver's work. In west, there has been active studies on how to reduce the side effect by using a person's bio-rhythm based on the 'time treatment', and how to reorganize the bio-rhythm by using the machine and the age resistance based on the 'bio-watch'. Though the 'time treatment' means something, the artificial resistance on bio-rhythm seems to give bad effects to human body. If a person lives by regimen of oriental medicine, he will maintain the healthiest body. Regimen is that human body follows the laws of nature, and moves its mysterious, Punctual and periodical changes.
