하천구조 개선에 따른 어류 서식적합도와 물리적 교란의 상관분석 (A Correlation Analysis between Physical Disturbance and Fish Habitat Suitability before and after Channel Structure Rehabilitation)

  • 본 연구는 어류서식적합도 향상을 위해 유전자알고리즘을 이용한 하천의 구조개선 방안을 제시하였다. 하천구조 개선에 의한 수리특성의 변화에 따른 어류 서식적합도와 물리적 교란양상과의 상관특성을 분석하였다. 원주천의 하천 환경조사와 어류의 군집특성을 이용하여 수중 생태계를 대표할 수 있는 복원 목표어종으로 참갈겨니를 선택하였다. 참갈겨니의 서식적합지수를 사용한 서식적합도 분석은 PHABSIM 모형을 이용하였다. HEC-RAS를 이용한 수리특성 분석과 하천교란 평가방법을 이용하여 물리적 교란평가를 수행하였다. 서식적합도 향상을 위한 최적의 저수로 폭의 개선방안을 제시하였다. 하천구조의 개선에 의한 수리특성의 변화에 따른 서식적합도와 물리적 교란의 상관성을 분석하여 어류 서식적합도와 물리적 교란 평가점수의 향상이 있음을 확인하였다. 서식적합도 향상을 위한 하천의 구조 개선은 물리적 교란의 평가점수의 향상을 가져옴을 확인하였다.

Potential risky exotic fish species, their ecological impacts and potential reasons for invasion in Korean aquatic ecosystems

  • Background: Due to the rapidly changing climatic conditions, South Korea faces the grand challenge of exotic species. With the increasing human movement, the influx of alien species to novel regions is prevalent across the globe. The latest research suggests that it is easy to prevent the introduction and establishment of alien species rather than controlling their spread and eradication. Like other countries, the Korean Ministry of Environment released a list (in 2018) of 45 potential risky exotic fish species considered likely to be invasive candidate fish species if they ever succeed in entering the Korean aquatic ecosystems. Results: The investigation into the invasion suitability traits showed that potential risky fish species could utilize those features in becoming invasive once they arrive in the Korean aquatic ecosystems. If the novel species establish viable populations, they are likely to incur higher economic costs, damage the native aquatic fauna and flora, and jeopardize the already perilled species. Furthermore, they can damage the installed infrastructure, decline overall abundance and biodiversity, and disturb the ecosystem services. Here we reviewed the list of fish species concerning their family, native origin, preferred aquatic biomes, main food items, current status in Korea, and potential threats to humans and the ecosystems. Data shows that most species are either already designated as invasive in the neighboring counties, including Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, and China, or originate from these countries. Such species have a higher climate match with the Korean territories. Conclusions: Therefore, it is exceptionally essential to study their most critical features and take regulatory measures to restrict their entry. The incoming fish species must be screened before letting them in the country in the future. The regulatory authorities must highlight the threatening traits of such species and strictly monitor their entrance. Detailed research is required to explore the other species, especially targeting the neighboring countries fish biodiversity, having demonstrated invasive features and matching the Korean climate.

서해 태안연안의 어류상 (Fish Fauna of the Coastal Waters off Taean in the West Sea of Korea)

  • 충남 태안 연안의 어류상을 조사하기 위하여 1996년 5월부터 1999년 7월 까지 총 13회의 채집을 실시하였다. 채집방법은 어부들에게 의뢰하거나, 정치망, 낚시, 손그물을 이용하였다. 채집된 표본들은 Nelson(1994)의 분류체계에 따라 정리한 결과 모두 14목 40과 63속 73종으로 확인되었다. 채집된 어류 가운데 우세하게 출현한 분류군은 조사 지점 1에서 별망둑 (Chasmichthys gulosus)과 점망둑 (Chasmichthys dolihcognathus), 조사지점 2에서 조피불락 (Sebastes schlegeli)과 쥐노래미 (Hexagrammos otakii), 조사지점 3 에 서 는 민어과 어류 (Sciaenidae), 참서대과 어류 (Cynoglossidae), 감성돔 (Acanthopagrus schlegelii), 참돔 (Pagrus major), 왜도라치 (Chirolophis wui), 흰베도라치 (Pholis fangi) 등 주로 정착성 유영 어류와 저서어류들이 다양하게 출현하였다. 본 조사해역은 계절에 따른 난류의 영향보다는 연안냉수의 영향을 주로 받기 때문에 난대성 어류가 적게 출현한 것으로 판단되며, 채집된 어류 가운데 농어목 Perciformes이 16과 30속 35종으로 가장 다양하게 출현하였고, 전체 출현종의 47.9%를 점유하였다. 본 조사의 정점 1에서 채집된 둑중개과(Cottidae) 어류 2개체는 미기록종 Porocottus sp.로 기재하였으며, 제1등지느러미 와 제 2등지느러미가 연결되어있고, 측선위에 미세한 비늘이 있는점, 몸 앞부분의 측선 위에 촉수모양의 물기물이 있는 점으로 둑중개과 실횟대속 Porocottus 다른 종들과 잘 구분되었다.

낙동강 본류의 어류상 (Fish Fauna of the Main Channel in the Nakdong River)

  • 낙동강 본류 및 지천을 중심으로 20개 지점에서 1999년 7월부터 2000년 12월까지 지점별 3${\sim}$7회에 걸쳐 어류상을 조사한 결과 총 17과 48종 4,791개체가 채집되었다. 잉어과 (25종: 상대풍부도 (RA), 91.8%)가 우점하였으며, Zacco platypus (RA: 18.0%)는 우점종으로 나타났으며, 아우점종은 Opsariichthys bidens (17.1%), Squalidus chankaensis tsuchigae (13.2%), Hemibarbus lab대 (9.9%), Z. temmincki (8.2%) 순으로 나타났다. 채집된 종중 한국고유종은 모두 12종으로 나타났다(4과, 1,172개체 , 24.5%). 외래도입종은 Carassius cuvieri (25개체), Micropterus salmoides (214개 체), Lepomis macrochirus (14개 체), Oreochromis niloticus (6개체) 등 4종이 채집되었다. M. salmoides는 낙동강의 중류와 하류부에 고루 분포하는 것으로 나타났다. 집괴분석 결과 세집단으로 나뉘었으며, St. 10(구미)부터 하류집단에 포함되었다. 1990년대 후반 낙동강에 유입된 M. salmoides는 하류부에서 급격히 그 수가 증가하였다(하류 RA 8.8%). M. salmoides의 섭식은 Daphnia sp.가 일반적이었으며 (<100 mm), Cladocera (< 150 mm)와 Insecta (< 200 mm)는 특별한 것으로 나타났다.

남강의 어류상과 군집구조 (The Fish Fauna and its Community Stucture in the Nam River, Nakdong River System, Korea)

  • 2000년 4월부터 2001년 9월까지 남강댐 하류의 본류와 유입하천의 어류상 및 군집구조를 조사하였다. 조사기간 중 채집된 어류는 11과 30속 39종이었으며, 그 중 잉어과 어류가 58.9%, 기름종개과 어류가 12.8%로 높은 값을 나타내었다. 채집된 종에서 한국 고유종은 R. uyekii, A. koreensis, A. yamatsutae, C. leuciscus, S. chankensis tsuchigae, S. gracilis majimae, S. variegatus wakiyae, M. yaluensis, M. rapidus, k. nakdongensis, N. multifasciata, L. mediadiposalis, C. herzi, O. platycephala의 14종이었다. 본류에서만 채집된 종은 P. esocinus, S. scherzeri, P. altivelis, C. argus의 4종이었으며, 지류에서만 채집된 종은 R. ocellatus, C. splendidus, S. gracilis majimae, H. longirostris, M. yaluensis, M. rapidus, Z. temmincki, M. mizolepis, K. nakdongensis, N. multifasciata, P. fulvidraco, L. mediadiposalis, C. herzi, O. platycephala의 14종이었다. 본류의 다양도 지수는 0.979로 지류의 다양도 지수 0.966보다 약간 높은 값을 나타내었다. 본류의 St.3과 지류의 St. 1, 16은 조사지역 중에서도 각각 높은 다양도 지수 (1.05, 0.962,0.956)와 낮은 우점도(0.102,0.369,0.200)를 보여 안정된 군집구조를 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 국외 및 국내의 다른 수계에서 도입된 종은 M. salmoides, L. macrochirus, O. bidens와 P. fulvidraco의 4종이었다.

담수어류의 종생물지수를 이용한 강릉 남대천의 수환경 평가 (Water Environmental Assessment by the Species Biotic Index of Freshwater Fish in the Namdaecheon, Gangneung City)

  • We investigated the water environmental assessment by the species biotic index (SBI) of freshwater fish at the Namdaecheon in Gangneung city, Gangweon-do during June and July in 2004 and June in 2005. In fish fauna, 29 species and 10 families were collected. Dominant species was Zacco platypus (relative abundance 15.33%) and subdominant species was Rhynchocypris steindachneri (13.13%). Species biotic index (SBI) in station 1, 2, 3, 4 was 1.70, 2.85, 1.00 and 3.39 respectively and water environmental grade by SBI was all very good. Station 5 was 4.13 in SBI and good grade. Station 6 was 4.47 and fairly good. Station 7 was 7.25 and poor. And station 8 was 8.10 and very poor grade. Results of water environmental grade by SBI and water quality grade were very similar in this stream.

태국 중부지역의 열대 담수어류상 (Tropical Freshwater Fish Fauna of Central Thailand)

  • 2000년부터 2004년까지 태국 (Thailand) 중부지역의 4개 수역인 Eastern, Chao Phraya, Peninsular, Maeklong 수계를 흐르는 하천에서 어류상 조사를 실시하였다. 160개 조사지점에 대하여 어류상조사를 실시한 결과 총 28과 124종이 확인되었다. Eastern과 Peninsular수역에서 각각 33종, 42종이 출현하였고 Chao Phraya와 Maeklong수역에서 52종과 91종이 확인되었다 4개 수역에서 모두 출현한 종은 Brachydanio albolineatus, Rasbora paviei, Systomus binotatus, Homaloptera smithi, Monopterus albus, Macrognathus circumcintus, Channa gaucha 등 7종이었다.

Nutrient regime, N:P ratios and suspended solids as key factors influencing fish tolerance, trophic compositions, and stream ecosystem health

  • The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of stream nutrient regime, N:P ratios and suspended solids on fish tolerance/trophic compositions and stream ecosystem health, based on multi-metric model, during 2008-2013. Also, stream ecosystem health was evaluated in relation to chlorophyll-a (CHL) as a measure of algal productivity or indicators of trophic state to water chemical parameters. Total number of sampled fish species were 50 and showed a decreasing trend from 2008 to 2013. The minnow of Zacco platypus, based on the catch per unit effort (CPUE), was the most dominant species (25.9%) among the all species. Spatial heterogeneity was evident in the fish tolerance guilds that showed the dominance of sensitive species (89%) in the headwaters (S1) and the dominance of tolerant species (57%) in the urban. These conditions were directly influenced by concentrations of nutrients and organic matter (COD). The N:P ratios, as a barometer of water pollution, had a negative linear function (R2 = 0.40, P < 0.01) with CHL, and the ratios had an important role in changes of COD concentration (R2 = 0.40, P < 0.01). Under the circumstances, the N:P ratio directly influenced the relative proportions of fish trophic/tolerance compositions. According to the regression analysis of omnivore (Om) and insectivore sp. (In) on total nitrogen and total phosphorus, nitrogen had no significant influences (P > 0.05) to the two compositions, but phosphorus influenced directly the two guilds [slope (a) = -32.3, R2 = 0.25, P < 0.01 in the In; a = 40.7, R2 = 0.19, P < 0.01 in the Om]. Such water chemistry and fish trophic guilds determined the stream ecosystem health, based on the multi-metric fish model.

탐진강수계 고도 및 하구로부터 거리에 따른 어류구성 및 분포특성 (Fish Distribution and Compositions Along with Altitude and Longitudinal Distance from the River Mouth in the Tamjin River Basin, Korea)

  • This study is focused on fish fauna and distributional features along with physical gradients and stream orders in the Tamjin River basin, Korea. Fish sampling and investigation were conducted for 2 years from 2009 to 2010. Total number of fish species collected were 47 species of 16 family. The group of cyprinidae was mostly abundant. Both fish abundance and biotic index were declined with increasing altitude and longitudinal distance from the river mouth. Two species of Zacco temminckii and Pungtungia herzi were prevalent in most of sampling sites and showed no altitudinal and longitudinal differences. Most other species, however, were spatially restricted to specific regional altitudes. Several species including Zacco platypus, Squalidus gracilis majimae and P. herzi were broadly distributed from river mouth to 50 km. Eight species including Z. temminckii and Rhynchocypris oxycephalus only appeared in over 10 km from the river mouth. Both Odontobutis platycephala and Pseudobagrus koreanus were classified as "upstream dewelling species" observed only in over 30 km from the river mouth. High proportion of tolerant and omnivorous species were more dominated in the downstream zone of the dam, whereas intolerant and insectivorous species were abundant in the upstream zone of the dam. The variable of stream order showed positive relationship between number of fish species and total individuals collected. Sensitive species including insectivore had a declining tendency with increasing stream order, while tolerant specie including omnivore species had relatively increased with stream order. Overall, our study suggested that fish distribution considerably depends on altitudinal gradient and longitudinal distance from the river mouth as well as physical habitat.

2010-2012년 어류표본사업에서 채집된 한국 남해 어류 종 목록 (Fish Species Collected by the Fish Collection Project from the Southern Sea of Korea during 2010-2012)

  • The Fish Collection Project collected 356 fish species from the Southern Sea of Korea during 2010-2012, 55 more than previously collected. The fishes belonged to 3 classes, 29 orders and 128 families. The 5 dominant orders, Perciformes, Scorpaeniformes, Pleuronectiformes, Tetraodontiformes, and Clupeiformes, accounted for ~80% of the identified species. Additionally, 126 species were collected from the Southern Sea for the first time, while 85 species that had been found in previous collections were not seen. The species variety of fish in the Southern Sea may be influenced by its unique oceanographic conditions such as increased water temperatures in coastal areas, so regular surveys would assist our understanding of the fish community. We suggest that various collection methods, including diving, be used to collect fish species inhabiting rocky shore or deep-sea areas, where commercial fishing gear is difficult to deploy.
