  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine factors affecting the effective demand of workers for dental treatment in a bid to provide some information on the improvement of oral health. Methods : The subjects in this study were 255 workers who were engaged in the pharmaceutical industry. A self-administered survey was conducted, and the collected data were analyzed by a spss(statistical package for the social science) win 12.0 program to find out their demographic characteristics, oral health awareness, oral health behavior and factors for the choice of a dental institution. Results : 1. Concerning the level of oral health awareness, 47.0 percent were at a low level(0 to three scores), and 35.2 percent were at an intermediate level(four to six scores). 2. As to oral health behavior involving a daily mean toothbrushing frequency, they brushed their teeth 2.65 times per day on the average. The most widely utilized oral hygiene supply was mouth rinse. Regarding oral health status, 53.7 percent weren't in good dental health, and just 23.0 percent got a dental checkup on a regular basis. 45.8 percent of those who didn't get a dental checkup cited time constraints as the reason. 26.0 percent received oral health education, and 91.4 percent were aware of the necessity of a corporate incremental dental care system. 3. Marital status, age and the reliability of dental institutions made differences to their choice of a dental institution. 4. As for the relationship between oral health awareness and the factors for the choice of a dental institution, oral health awareness had a statistically significant positive correlation to the reliability of dental institutions. Conclusions : The above-mentioned findings suggest that oral health education enables workers to have a correct knowledge on oral health, to change their own oral health behavior and to make the right choice of a dental institution in consideration of their oral characteristics. They should be urged to get a regular dental checkup not to develop chronic oral diseases so that they couldn't have to receive first-aid dental treatment. To promote the oral health of workers, oral health care personnels available should be utilized, and the incremental dental care system should be more vitalized to cut down on their effective demand for dental treatment.

This study surveyed the actual state of injuries experience caused by apparatus and materials through a self-administered survey of 366 dental hygienists. Statistical analysis was performed using PASW Statistics 18.0. Frequency, chi-square test, t-test, one-way ANOVA were applied in this analysis. The results were as follows: Out of the 307 subjects (83.9%) experienced injuries in the last 6 months, and 294 subjects (80.3%) chose the stab as the most frequent type of injuries experience and it was followed by incised wound, scratch and burn. In relation to the differences in injuries experience depending on general characteristics, there were significant differences depending on the age, career, position, dental treatment (p<0.001) and the education (p<0.01). In relation to the differences in the level of safety accident prevention practice depending on general characteristics, there were significant differences depending on the injuries experience, age (p<0.05) and the types of dental clinics (p<0.01). • As the concern with the creation of environmental problems and regulations about them becomes internationally growing, environmental cooperations with countries concerned are emerging as the first item on the political agenda. In case of South Korea, cooperations with countries in the Asian region is needed urgently. In particular, cooperations with North Korea will be an important factor to reunify the Korean peninsula as well as to solve environmental problems in South Korea. Accordingly, it is necessary to seek feasible alternatives and possibilities of coping with international environment in South and North Korea. This study is limited to literature study based on collecting materials and the testimony of former residents in North Korea. The period of study ranges from May to December in 1992. The research findings show the following environmental problems and alternatives : It is recognized in South Korea that the creation of environmental problems is product of economic development. Currently, the Korean government makes an effort to revise environmental administration and law, to encourage environmental education, and to proceed with environmental technology policies by establishing environmental policies together with economic development plans. North Korea ascribes the cause of environmental problems to colonial exploitation by Japan and the U.S. Environmental pollutants in North Korea is relatively less than South Korea, provisions such as environmental conservation movement, environmental education, and environmental administration and law are not well organized in the country. However, North korea will speed up its economic development to solve economic crises. Therefore, it is expected that industrial wastes, corrosion of nature, and water pollution will result in serious environmental problems. The fields expected to cooperate with South and North Korea are in the following : South Korea may adopt the model of the former East and West Germany and proceed to cooperate with North Korea in public sector as well as private sector. The possible programs are such as academic exchange to conserve environment, joint research in the area of the Demilitarized Zone, conservation of ecosystems around Imjin and Pukhan Rivers, South Korea's support of advanced environmental technology and industrial and financial aid to North Korea. Conflicts between countries concerned in the North East Asian region will be caused by the responsibilities of pollutions because of the seashore development of the Yellow Sea by South Korea and increasing seashore industrial complexes around the Yellow Sea in China, Therefore, it is desirable that the two countries will participate in organizations related to environment. Joint projects between South and North Korea will be as follows : 1. Construction of long-range monitoring system : 2. Investigation of the state of pollutions around the Yellow Sea and alternatives : 3. Construction of joint monitoring system to regulate the movement of pollutants : 4. Cooperation of environmental technology and exchange of information ; and 5. Support of Cooperation of environment in private sector. Efforts to cooperate with North korea is expected to overcome differences between the two countries as well as to encourage unification of the korean peninsula, which will lead to reducing the cost of environmental recovery. These efforts will also contribute to the maintenance for peace and stability on the korean peninsula as well as in the North East Asian region.

  • This study focuses on Ko woo-young (1939-2005), a Korean representative cartoonist. I analyzed his work Nolbudyeon (1988), which is a retelling of Heungbu and Nolbu, a traditional Korean story. I consider Ko woo-young a creative observer who has popularized his perspective in modern society. His work is a good example of how a traditional folktale can be made relevant in modern society. I used three methods of adaptation to differentiate Nolbudyeon from Heungbu story: construction of events, characterizing, and space-time background. First, to aid character development, Nolbudyeon includes a prologue that focuses on conflicts between brothers with different personalities. At the same time, the ambiguous ending could be a response to Heungbu story, which has a didactic theme. Second, I found that the new characters, Nolsun and Yeonsaengwon, enhanced the differences between Heungbu and Nolbu by playing the role of mediators. Also, in Nolbudyeon, both Heungbu and Nolbu had positive as well as negative elements, in contrast with the original story's traditional point of view on good and evil. Finally, by exploring the space-time of Nolbudyeon, we can see that its world is combined with the contemporary world. In other words, Nolbu and Heungbu, though outwardly traditional, have a modern outlook. Therefore, readers can recognize that Nolbudyeon is a metaphor for modern life rather than just an old story.

The subjects were 119 paramedics working at the fire department who agreed to participate in the study, and data collection was conducted from July 1st to September 10th, 2020. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS 23.0 program, with frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, correlation analysis, t-test, and ANOVA. As a result, the average job stress, job satisfaction, and job performance ability of 119 paramedics were 2.85±0.29 points, 3.35±0.30 points, and 3.53±0.89, respectively. A higher job satisfaction indicated higher job performance ability. An examination of the characteristics of the variables according to the general characteristics showed that the job performance ability was related significantly to the marital status, age, and first aid experience. Based on this, to establish a positive professional intuition to increase the job performance ability of 119 paramedics, lower job stress, and increases job satisfaction, it is important to raise awareness of job satisfaction, establish a job view, and promote job satisfaction through performance improvement. Program development and education programs for children should be actively carried out.rough performance improvement.
