This study aims to isolate and identify the causal pathogen of tomato bacterial wilt in Egypt. In 2008, tomato plants showing typical symptoms of bacterial wilt disease with no foliar yellowing were observed in Minia, Assiut and Sohag governorates, Egypt. When cut stems of symptomatic plants were submerged in water, whitish ooze was evident and longitudinal sections showed a brown discoloration in the vascular tissues. Bacteria were isolated on triphenyl tetrazolium chloride medium and fifteen isolates shown typical morphological and cultural characteristics were confirmed as Ralstonia solanacearum biovar 2 race 1. Pathogenicity tests showed that all isolates proved to be pathogenic to tomato plants, varied from 52 to 97% wilting. This is the first report of R. solanacearum biovar 2 race 1 causing bacterial wilt in tomato crop in Egypt.

Detecting races is important for debugging shared-memory parallel programs, because the races result in unintended non-deterministic executions of the programs. Previous on-the-fly techniques to detect races in parallel programs with general inter-thread coordination show serious space overhead which depends on the maximum parallelism of the program. Therefore, this paper presents a loop splitting technique for on-the-fly race detection of parallel programs which is more efficient in space complexity than previous techniques. This loop splitting technique is the debugged program which preserves semantics of the original program. Monitering loop splitting program in on-the-fly can detect first races.
The chromosome number of myoga ginger (Zingiber mioga (Thunb.) Roscoe: Zingiberaceae) has been reported as 2n = 22 for Chinese plants and 2n = 55 for Japanese plants. We checked the chromosome number of Z. mioga in plants collected in Jeollabuk-do and Jeollanam-do, Korea, and counted 2n = 44, the first report of this number for the species. As the basic chromosome number of Z. mioga is thought to be x = 11, Z. mioga plants in China, Korea, and Japan appear to be diploids, tetraploids, and pentaploids, respectively. In finding the tetraploid race of Z. mioga in Korea, we can hypothesize that the pentaploid race in Japan is derived through the fertilization of reduced gametes of the diploid race and unreduced gametes of the tetraploid race.

The autonomic regulation of heart rate (HR) is an indicator of the body's ability to adapt to an exercise stimulus. However, there are no reports on this topic in relation to Jeju horses used for racing. The aim of this study was to analyze the HR responses of Jeju horses during race trials and to investigate the correlation between HR and performance in these horses. HR data were collected from 17 healthy 2- to 7-year-old Jeju horses wearing HR monitors during race trials. Pearson correlation coefficients was used to determine the significance of the association between the race trial time and HR. A significant inverse correlation was observed between the race trial time (performance) and both the maximal HR (HRmax, r = -0.69, p < 0.01) and HR reserve (HRR) (HRmax - average HR during the warm-up period, r = -0.63, p < 0.01) and between the HRR and HRmax (r = 0.73, p < 0.01). Horses with a lower average HR during the warm-up period and higher heart rates during the trial achieved faster race trial times. This study reports the first HR measurements in Jeju horses during race trials, providing new insights into the HR response of this breed to exercise. The use of a noninvasive remote HR monitor system allowed assessment of exercise responses in the field, and the results suggest that both the HRR during warm-up period and HRmax may be useful performance indicators in Jeju horses.
This study deals with residual stress prediction and hardness evaluation within cross ball grooved inner race fabricated by cold upsetting process consisted of upsetting and ejection steps. A raw workpiece material of AISI 5120H (SCr420H) is first spheroidized and annealed, then phosphophyllite coated to form solid lubricant layer on its outer surface. To investigate influences of the heat treatment, uni-axial compression tests and Vickers micro-hardness measurements are conducted. Three-dimensional elasto-plastic FE simulations on the upsetting step and the ejection one are performed to visualize the residual stress and the ductile (plastic deformation) damage. External feature of the fabricated inner race is fully captured by using an optical 3D scanner, and the micro-hardness is measured on internal cross-sections. Consequently, the dimensional compatibility between the simulated inner race and the fabricated one is ensured with a difference of under 0.243mm that satisfied permissible error range of ±0.50mm on the grooved surface, and the predicted residual stress is verified to have similar distribution tendency with the measured Vickers micro-hardness.
Detecting unaffected race conditions is important to debugging message-passing programs effectively, because such a message race can affect other races to occur or not. The previous technique to detect efficiently unaffected races detects racing messages by halting at the receive event of the first race to occur in each process. However this technique does not guarantee that all of the detected races are unaffected, because halting such processes does disconnect some chain of affects-relations among those races. In this paper, we present a novel technique that manages the state of the detected race by examining if every received message is affected until the execution terminates. Our technique therefore guarantees to detect efficiently the unaffected races, because it maintains affects-relations of the races all along the execution of program.
Objective This experimental study was designed to investigate effects of Sam-chool-gun-bi-tang administration during carbohydrate loading diet to long distance runners on changes of the urine metabolic responses. Materials and Methods All subjects were divided randomly with two groups, Sam-chool-gun- bi-tang administration Group (N=5) and control group (N=5) and attended on domestic marathon race. The urine samples were collected by 15ml conical tube at rest, a day before race, immediately after race, a day after race. These samples were used to analyze for the factors of the change on metabolic responses. At First, the factors of the routine urine test were checked; RBC, WBC, glucose, protein, ketone, bilirubin, urobilirubin. Next, the factors on the changes of the electrolyte metabolism and creatinine were checked; $Na^+ $, $Cl^-$, $K^+$, $Ca^{+ +}$, Creatinine. Results 1. Urine RBC, WBC, glucose, protein, ketone, bilirubin, urobilirubin were all denoted negatively (-). 2. Urine pH response in Sam-chool-gun-bi-tang administration group was shown significant difference between two groups at immediately after race. 3. Urine $Na^+$ response in Sam-chool-gun- bi-tang administration group was shown significant difference between two groups at immediately after race. 4. Urine $K^+$ response in Sam-chool-gun-bi-tang administration group was shown significant difference between two groups at immediately after race and a day after race. 5. Urine $Cl^-$ response in Sam-chool-gun- bi-tang administration group was increased at immediately after race, but was not shown significant difference between two groups. 6. Urine $Ca^{+ +}$ response in Sam-chool-gun-bi-tang administration group was decreased gradually, but was not shown significant difference between two groups. 7. Urine Creatinine response in Control group was decreased significantly at immediately after race, but was not shown significant difference between two groups. Conclusion According to the above results, it was shown that Sam-chool-gun- bi-tang administration had the positive effects on changes of the urine matabolic responses during carbohydrate loading diet to the long distance runners.
A direct and precise explanation of soybean resistance to soybean cyst nematode will be possible only when the individual gene(s) involved in the resistance are tagged. This study was conducted, (1) to identify and localize quantitative trait loci for resistance to soybean cyst nematode race 14 on RAPD map, (2) to identify the magnitude and mode of inheritance for each quantitative trait loci, and (3) to identify the best combinations of quantitative trait loci for resistance to soybean cyst nematode race 14. Thirty markers (29 RAPD and 1 RFLP) showed significant association with resistance to soybean cyst nematode race 14. From MAPMAKER/QTL analysis, we identified two regions (linkage group C-7 and linkage group C-9) for resistance to soybean cyst nematode .ace 14. The first quantitative trait loci that was localized at 6.0 cM from $H06^1$ on linkage group C-7 showed a dominant inheritance mode. However, we can not exclude the possibility of additive inheritance mode. The second quantitative trait loci that was localized between $B15^2$ and $E01^1$ on linkage group C-9 also showed a dominant mode of inheritance. One pair of flanking markers ($H06^1$ and $H06^2$) and B15$^2$ were used for multiple regression analysis. Marker combination that included 2 markers, $B15^2$ and $H06^1$, explained the highest total variance (22.9%) for resistance to soybean cyst nematode race 14. Further localization of genes for resistance to soybean cyst nematode race 14 and examination of interaction between quantitative trait loci will accelerate the exploitation of resistance to soybean cyst nematode.
