Cordycepin exerts neuroprotective effects against excitotoxic neuronal death. However, its direct electrophysiological evidence in Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the electrophysiological mechanisms underlying the protective effect of cordycepin against the excitotoxic neuronal insult in AD using whole-cell patch clamp techniques. ${\beta}$-Amyloid ($A{\beta}$) and ibotenic acid (IBO)-induced injury model in cultured hippocampal neurons was used for the purpose. The results revealed that cordycepin significantly delayed $A{\beta}$ + IBO-induced excessive neuronal membrane depolarization. It increased the onset time/latency, extended the duration, and reduced the slope in both slow and rapid depolarization. Additionally, cordycepin reversed the neuronal hyperactivity in $A{\beta}$ + IBO-induced evoked action potential (AP) firing, including increase in repetitive firing frequency, shortening of evoked AP latency, decrease in the amplitude of fast afterhyperpolarization, and increase in membrane depolarization. Further, the suppressive effect of cordycepin against $A{\beta}$ + IBO-induced excessive neuronal membrane depolarization and neuronal hyperactivity was blocked by DPCPX (8-cyclopentyl-1,3-dipropylxanthine, an adenosine $A_1$ receptor-specific blocker). Collectively, these results revealed the suppressive effect of cordycepin against the $A{\beta}$ + IBO-induced excitotoxic neuronal insult by attenuating excessive neuronal activity and membrane depolarization, and the mechanism through the activation of $A_1R$ is strongly recommended, thus highlighting the therapeutic potential of cordycepin in AD.
The silencer for the medium caliber gun was studied to reduce the propagation of gun-generated noise from the firing test range to the community. Three types of silencer were made to compare the reduction of sound pressure level and the effect of chamber volume and the exit angle to the reduction of sound pressure was considered. The structural analysis and measurement of pressure in the silencer showed that the structure is safe in terms of strength. The increase of recoil force to buffer must be considered in the development of silencer. The hypothesis test on the muzzle velocity for the existence of silencer showed that there are no difference at the significance level of 0.05.
Engine Noise is composed of the mechanical and combustion noise. The contribution of combustion noise is generally bigger than the contribution of the mechanical noise at idle condition in DI diesel engine. That noise usually makes a roughness problem at the fundamental engine order. It is difficult to remove the modulation frequency so we have to directly reduce the combustion noise. The key effect of combustion noise reducing solution is the modification of the combustion pressure profile. It is accomplished by the multiple injection method and we solved the 400Hz combustion noise and improved the sound quality at idle condition in DI diesel engine.
In this paper, a real time implementation of selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (SHEPWM) using Real Coded Genetic Algorithm (RGA), Particle Swarm Optimization technique (PSO) and a new technique known as Linearization Method (LM) for Single Phase Matrix Converter (SPMC) is designed and discussed. In the proposed technique, the switching frequency is fixed and the optimum switching angles are obtained using simple mathematical calculations. A MATLAB simulation was carried out, and FFT analysis of the simulated output voltage waveform confirms the effectiveness of the proposed method. An experimental setup was also developed, and the switching angles and firing pulses are generated using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) processor. The proposed method proves that it is much applicable in the industrial applications by virtue of its suitability in real time applications.
Presuming that firing neurons have motions inside the MRI magnet due to the interaction between the neuronal magnetic field and the main magnetic field, we applied motion encoding gradients to dissected snail ganglia to observe faster responding MRI signal than the BOLD signal. To activate the snail ganglia in synchronization with the MRI pulse sequence, we used electrical stimulation with the frequency of 30 Hz and the pulse width of 2s. To observe the fast responding signal, we used the volume selected MRI sequence. The magnetic resonance signal intensity, measured with 8 ms long motion encoding gradient with a 20mT/m gradient strength, decreased about $3.46{\pm}1.48%$ when the ganglia were activated by the electrical stimulation.
The nature and the sources of sound in cars is discussed in the light of many previous works, and the importance of the system resonances inside cars is suggested. An investigation of a 'boom' problem in a small size passenger car is described. It was established that the 'boom' frequencies coincided with engine firing frequency and also with several system resonances. To find out main transmission path of the noise to the car interior, various possible sources were eliminated from the investigation by means of simple modification to the vehicle. Data on the structural modes of the body, and the acoustic modes of the passenger compartment at various forcing cases were obtained to provide better understanding of the problem. It was found that the acoustic resonance responsible for the boom was controlled largely the bending motion of the floor. To investigate the effect of the structural modification to the acoustic response, center floor of the car was reinforced. a great reduction of the noise inside the car especially at the offending speed range, was achieved by this modification.

A design of a highly stable current-controlled power supply combining the phase-controlled rectifier (PCR), passive filter and active filter is investigated. A digital phase-looked voltage control (PLVC) with a capability of compensating the thyristor firing angles under unvalanced power source is proposed` otherwise the PCR output voltage has low-order subharmonics whose suppression requires a bulky passive filter. The digital PLVC has a fast dynamic characteristics as an inner control loop of the PCR. To suppress further the output ripple, an active filter using a transformer is introduced and its design is described through the frequency domain analysis. An optimal integral, proportional and measurable variable feedback (IPM) controller is designed using the time-weighted performance index based on the time domain analysis. The design method based on the time-weighted performance index gives better response characteristics than that based on the conventional performance index. It is also shown via experimental results that the proposed scheme gives better response characteristics than that based on the conventional performance index. It is also shown via experimental results that the proposed scheme gives good dynamic and static performances.

A heavy load driving system for the gun laying control is designed with the analysis of performance in pointing accuracy and speed. To eliminate the firing noise and high frequency system noise, a .PI. filter is implemented in conjunction with the PI velocity control. To incorporate the gunner's commands in the PID position control loop easily, a .mu.-processor is utilized in the position control loop. Main difficulties in the heavy load driving system exist in the design of motor drivers and heat sinkers. With an appropriate design of the motor drivers and heat sinkers, the performance of the gun laying system is analyzed by the simulation.
The charcteristics for the copper-contained spinel ferrites such as NiCu-and ZnCu ferrites with various copper content are investigated in this study which can provide a explanation for the behavior of copper in sintering at a low temperatuer. The bulk density and the grain size for these sintered ferrites were increased with the larger amount of copper in compositions. In microstructure of copper-contained spinel ferrites copper exists in the grain boundary which is sintering process. Electrical resistivity and frequency range with maximum Q-facor of NiCu-or ZnCu ferrites were decreased as increasing of copper content in ferrite composition.
