Structural integrity of solid rocket depends on the residual reactions between constituents of its composition(post cure, migration etc.), the oxygen(or anti-oxydent) in the free volume and humidity (desiccant) under the perfect sealed condition. Mechanical Properties of composite solid propellant arising from those factors are very complex. Moreover the propulsion are faced with thermal loads from diurnal & seasonal cycle till firing. In this study, the fast evaluation method of long term mechanical properties is suggested based on Thermo-Rheological Simplicity from curing oven to cool-down stage in view point of thermal stabilization. For this subject, endurance tester having temperature control capability are devised. From the results from incremental load and strain, non-linear characteristics are discussed.
Taste-responsive neurons in the nucleus of the solitary tract (NST), the first gustatory nucleus, often respond to thermal or mechanical stimulation. Alcohol, not a typical taste modality, is a rewarding stimulus. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of ethanol (EtOH) and/or temperature as stimuli to the tongue on the activity of taste-responsive neurons in hamster NST. In the first set of experiments, we recorded the activity of 113 gustatory NST neurons in urethane-anesthetized hamsters and evaluated responses to four basic taste stimuli, 25% EtOH, and 40℃ and 4℃ distilled water (dH2O). Sixty cells responded to 25% EtOH, with most of them also being sucrose sensitive. The response to 25% EtOH was significantly correlated with the sucrose-evoked response. A significant correlation was also observed between sucrose- and 40℃ dH2O- and between 25% EtOH- and 40℃ dH2O-evoked firings. In a subset of the cells, we evaluated neuronal activities in response to a series of EtOH concentrations, alone and in combination with 32 mM sucrose (EtOH/Suc) at room temperature (RT, 22℃-23℃), 40℃, and 4℃. Neuronal responses to EtOH at RT and 40℃ increased as the concentrations increased. The firing rates to EtOH/Suc were greater than those to EtOH or sucrose alone. The responses were enhanced when solutions were applied at 40℃ but diminished at 4℃. In summary, EtOH activates most sucrose-responsive NST gustatory cells, and the concomitant presence of sucrose or warm temperatures enhance this response. Our findings may contribute to elucidate the neural mechanisms underlying appetitive alcohol consumption.

In the ceramic industry, a drastic decrease in crystalline formation was found even among the glazes well known for their high crystalline productivity when the ceramic glaze was stored in wet conditions over a period. This study aimed to investigate the reason for decreasing willemite crystals during storage. As the starting materials ZnO, calcined ZnO and frit 3110 are selected; the composition for zinc crystalline glazes was set through a three-component system with the materials. The firing condition was used from previous studies. The study was observed how wet conditions affected the crystallization of zinc crystalline glazes from a day to 24 weeks. The results were obtained by particle size analysis, XRD, Raman spectroscopy and SEM analysis. The results indicated that ZnO is advantageous in terms of willemite crystalline development and growth; however, Zn(OH)2 cluster, formed by the reaction with water during the storage, caused the decrease in ZnO level in the glaze. The reduction of ZnO in the glaze eventually interfered the willemite development and growth.
Mobility reduction of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) was tested by amending monopotassium phosphate (MKP) and montmorillonite to a firing range soil contaminated with TNT. While addition of MKP enhanced sorption of TNT on soil matrix, and combined use of MKP with montmorillonite significantly decreased desorption of TNT as well as remarkably increased the TNT sorption. Montmorillonite amendment by 5% of soil mass resulted in TNT desorption of 0.12 mg/kg from soil loaded with 9.93 mg/kg-TNT. The decrease of TNT desorption was proportional to the amount of montmorillonite amended. At 10 and 15% amendment, only 0.79 and 1.23 mg/kg-TNT was desorbed from 29.33 and 48.80 mg/kg-TNT. In addition, the leaching of TNT with synthetic precipitation leaching procedure (SPLP) and hydroxypropyl-${\beta}$-cyclodextrin (HPCD) decreased, indicating that TNT in MKP/montmorillonite-treated soil became more stable and less leachable. The results demonstrate that addition of MKP and montmorillonite to TNT-contaminated soil reduces the mobility of TNT from soil not only by increasing TNT sorption, but also decreasing TNT desorption. It was found that MKP and montmorillonite amendments by 5 and 10% of soil mass, respectively, were optimal for reducing the mobility of soil TNT.

Objectives : Non-invasive transcranial electrical stimulation is one of therapeutic interventions to change in neural excitability of the cortex. Transcranial electro-acupuncture (TEA) can modulate brain functions through changes in cortical excitability as a model of non-invasive transcranial electrical stimulation. Some composites of fermented Scutellaria baicalenis (FSB) can activate intercellular signaling pathways for activation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor that is critical for formation of neural plasticity in stroke patients. This study was aimed at evaluation of combinatory treatment of TEA and FSB on behavior recovery and cortical neural excitability in rodent focal stroke model. Methods : Focal ischemic stroke was induced by photothrombotic injury to the motor cortex of adult rats. Application of TEA with 20 Hz and $200{\mu}A$ in combination with daily oral treatment of FBS was given to stroke animals for 3 weeks. Motor recovery was evaluated by rotating bean test and ladder working test. Electrical activity of cortical pyramidal neurons of stroke model was evaluated by using multi-channel extracellular recording technique and thallium autometallography. Results : Compared with control stroke group who did not receive any treatment, Combination of TEA and FSB treatment resulted in more rapid recovery of forelimb movement following focal stroke. This combination treatment also elicited increase in spontaneous firing rate of putative pyramidal neurons. Furthermore expression of metabolic marker for neural excitability was upregulated in peri-infract area under thallium autometallography. Conclusions : These results suggest that combination treatment of TEA and FSB can be a possible remedy for motor recovery in focal stroke.
When underwater blasting is conducted, both shock waves and water waves have an effect on adjacent coastal areas. In this study, an empirical formula for estimating the details of water waves caused by underwater blasting was applied to a non-reflected wave generation system, and a 3D numerical wave tank (NWT) was improved to reproduce the generation and propagation of such water waves. The maximum elevations of the propagated water waves were comparatively analyzed to determine the validity and effectiveness of the NWT. Good agreement was demonstrated between the empirical and simulation results. The generation and propagation of water waves were also simulated under each underwater blasting scenario for the removal of the Todo islet at the Busan Newport International Terminal (PNIT). It was determined that the water waves generated by the underwater blasting scenario examined in this study did not have a significant impact on the PNIT. In addition, multiple-charge blasting caused higher wave heights than single-charge blasting. As the amount of firing charge increased, the wave height also increased. Finally, larger water waves were generated during the later blasting conducted at a deeper depth as compared with an earlier blasting conducted at a relatively shallow depth.

In this study, a hot-firing test of a lab-scale gel rocket motor using liquid kerosene and gelled kerosene as fuel was performed in order to analyze the discrepancy of the static and dynamic pressure between the two fuels. The static pressure, characteristic velocity, and characteristic velocity efficiency of the liquid kerosene and gelled kerosene did not show any significant difference. However, in the case of dynamic pressure characteristics, the pressure oscillation amplitude in a specific high frequency region of the gelled kerosene demonstrated a significantly higher amplitude than liquid kerosene case. This is considered to be the effect of an intrinsic combustion mechanism of the gel propellant, and it can be postulated that this may act as a dominant factor influencing the high frequency combustion instability of the gel rocket motor.

To reduce the environmental load of the construction industry, there is a need to minimize construction and demolition by strengthening the eco-friendliness of building materials and extending the durable lifespan. Therefore, while many Hanok roof finishing methods have been proposed to address these problems, the current trend is to use the existing method due to issues such as economic feasibility, weight, and durability. The manufacturing method of clay roof tiles used as roofing materials for Hanok buildings is optimized by using a mixture of 64.5% Gyeongju clay, 15.0% kaolin, 15.0% FNS(Ferro Nickel Slag), and 5.5% MAS(Magnesia Aluminum Silicate) under optimal conditions. The results of the experiment involving firing at 1,125℃ showed that flexural strength of 12,102N, which is higher than the standard of KS F 3510, an absorption rate of 6.08%, a volume specific gravity of 2.15g/cm3, and the freeze-thaw properties were satisfied. A method for securing stable quality was studied.
In order to develop a process for manufacturing a composite structure of an intermetallic compound foam and a hollow material, the firing and pore form of the Al-Ni precursor in a steel pipe are investigated. When the Al-Ni precursor is foamed in a hollow pipe, if the temperature distribution inside the precursor is uneven, the pore shape distribution becomes uneven. In free foaming, no anisotropy is observed in the foaming direction and the pore shape is isotropic. However, in the hollow pipe, the pipe expands in the pipe axis direction and fills the pipe. The interfacial adhesion between $Al_3Ni$ foam and steel pipe is excellent, and interfacial pore and reaction layer are not observed by SEM. In free foaming, the porosity is 90 %, but it decreases to about 80 % in the foam in the pipe. In the pipe foaming, most of the pore shape appears elongated in the pipe direction in the vicinity of the pipe, and this tendency is more remarkable when the inside pipe diameter is small. It can be seen that the pore size of the foam sample in the pipe is larger than that of free foam, because coarse pores remain after solidification of the foam because the shape of the foam is supported by the pipe. The vertical/horizontal length ratio expands along the pipe axis direction by foaming in the pipe, and therefore circularity is reduced.

The space Debris laser ranging system is called to be a definite type of satellite laser ranging system that measures the distance to satellites. It is a system that performs POD (Precise Orbit Determination) by measuring time of flight by firing a laser. Distance precision can be measured in mm-level units, and it is the most precise system among existing systems. Currently, KASI has built SLR in Sejong and Geochang, and utilized SLR data to verify the precise orbits of the STSAT-2C and KOMASAT-5. In recent years, due to the fall or collision of space debris, its satellites have been threatened, and in terms of security, laser tracking of space objects is receiving great interest in order to protect their own space assets and protect the safety of the people. In this paper, a 1.5m-class main mirror was applied for the system design of a multipurpose laser tracking system that considers satellite laser ranging and space object laser tracking. System preliminary performance analysis was performed based on Link Budget analysis considering specifications of major components.
