Interpretation of the Five Viscera's Ascending Kidney-Water and Descending Heart-Yang

  • According to the principle of ascending water and descending fire, water has the property of wetting downward, which is the opposite of fire, which has the property of blazing upward. Thus, they work differently according to their innate properties. Nature and the human body maintain harmony through the interaction of ascending water and descending fire. When applied to the human body, the heart and kidney are the center of this principle. In other words, the heart above is the fire and the kidney downward is water. When the heart-fire harmonizes downward, the kidney becomes warm, enabling genuine vital functions to be active. When the kidney yin moves upward, the heart receives the nourishing yin to harmonize nutrients and blood. Thereby, physiological functions become normal throughout the blood meridians. However, in the ascending kidneywater and descending heart-yang of the heart and the kidney, the liver and lung are the major functional organs. In other words, the liver through the dispersing and raising yang functions moves water, which is the vital essence of the kidney, upward. And the lung, through the astriction?clearing of the lung and descending Qi?dispersing functions, moves the heart-fire downward. These functions are deeply related with changing seasons; thus, these functions can be explained with the ascending kidney-water and descending heart-yang of the five viscera.

방탈출카페의 성능위주설계에 의한 피난안전성 확대 방안 (Measures to Increase Evacuation Safety through Performance-Based Design of Escape Room Cafes)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose measures to increase evacuation safety by calculating the habitable time using a fire and evacuation simulation program for the Room-escape cafe currently in operation, and comparing and analyzing it with the evacuation required time. Assuming a fire due to overheating of electric heaters in use in front of the warehouse, the habitable time was calculated through fire simulation, and the occupant's evacuation time calculated through evacuation simulation according installation of safety facilities, etc. was compared and analyzed with the habitable time. In the case of escape room cafes with safety facilities installed, evacuation safety was satisfied, but in escape room cafes without safety facilities, the evacuation safety was not secure. As a result of analyzing evacuation safety for each scenario based on the ASET analyzed in the fire simulation, it was found that in scenario 1, evacuation safety was secured and everyone successfully evacuated, while in scenario 2, no one succeeded in evacuation. These results can be said to confirm that the installation of safety facilities is very important in business establishments such as escape room cafes, which become enclosed structures when games are started.

  • Fire engineering design method based on structural performance of buildings has been developed through all of the worlds since the early 1960's. But recently the worlds have been changed rapidly in aspects of global community and mutural free trade circumstances. Therefore the concepts of fire design on structural performance need to harmonize among countries that have their own unique regulations and ISO TC 92 and SC 4 have worked in order to make the united international standard.

  • Recently, the plans and constructions of atrium are prevalent widely. But. in the case of atrium it has many problems from the viewpoint of space properties of atrium. Therefore, planning of fire protection is required urgently. The purpose of this study is to analysis the fire properties on the several heights of atrium through three models which the ratio of atrium's width to height is 1:1, 1:1.5 and 1:2 respectively.

  • Due to the development of the urban economy, high-density buildings and skyscrapers have continued to increase in order to alleviate high population densities and to make efficient use of urban space. However, a fire in a high-rise building is a disaster that can lead to massive casualties and property damage because of the difficulty of firefighting and escaping. Various studies have been conducted on these high-rise buildings because they are sympathetic to these difficulties all over the world. In this paper, trends of researches and technologies related to fire in high-rise buildings are analyzed synthetically through thesis and patent data. In other words, we explored the trends of various studies that have been carried out so far through the thesis, and performed technical monitoring on actual implemented technology and newly implemented technologies through patent data. Through this research, we have studied the present and the future of technology for high-rise building fire.

  • Recently buildings are constructed in larger and higher scales and becoming more complex. Every country in the world is competing to build high-rise buildings. Korea also has and is constructing high-rise buildings, like the 123story Jamsil Lotte Super Tower. However from small to large scale buildings and on construction sites there still are fire safety accidents that occur continuously. Therefore to improve fire safety plan, examining the actual fire safety management and understanding fire risk analysis Using Fire Modeling through Computer Simulation.   • Preschoolers are the most effective age to start fire safety education. But, if the education contents are inappropriate, they may form the wrong habit to preschoolers. Many educational contents of fire safety in Korea are not so obvious in the principle and order of priority about what to do during fire and they often contain unnecessary contents to preschoolers such as how to use fire extinguisher. This paper has analyzed fire safety awareness of preschoolers and teachers and, based on the results, has claimed unsuitability of training on how to use fire extinguisher and has suggested the improvement of fire safety education.

INFLUENCE OF AERIAL FIRE FIGHTING ON INTENSITY OF RADIATION FROM FIRE

  • A large scale fire experiment was conducted through the collaboration between the Tokyo Fire Department and the National Research Institute of Fire and Disaster (NRIFD) for the purpose of studying the effectiveness of aerial fro fighting against urban fire. Ten model houses and ten collapsed model houses were arranged in an area of about $2,000\;m^2$. Water was dropped totally fourteen times by helicopters onto the model houses. In order to know influence of water drop, radiation was measured by four radiometers and four IR (Infrared) cameras, which were set around the burning area. In this report, the influence of aerial Ore fighting on fire was discussed in terms of irradiance and IR images. Data of irradiance, flame temperature and flame area showed that influence of each water drop continued only at most a minute.
