  • Plan of Human Resource Development is essential to strategically promote poor domestic fire protection industry and as a consequent to grow it to a high value added service industry. To foster fire protection industry, any reform will be needed to for a smooth supplies of work force by training customized high class work force. Consequently, In this study, We will investigate and analyze the status and problems of current domestic fire protection industry so that We can suggest the direction for a way to improve these.

Development of an Intelligent Program for Diagnosis of Electrical Fire Causes (전기화재 원인진단을 위한 지능형 프로그램 개발)

  • This paper presents an intelligent computer system, which can easily diagnose electrical fire causes, without the help of human experts of electrical fires diagnosis. For this system, a database is built with facts and rules driven from real electrical fires, and an intellectual database system which even a beginner can diagnose fire causes has been developed, named as an Electrical Fire Causes Diagnosis System : EFCDS. The database system has adopted, as an inference engine, a mixed reasoning approach which is constituted with the rule-based reasoning and the case-based reasoning. The system for a reasoning model was implemented using Delphi 3, one of program development tools, and Paradox is used as a database building tool. To verify effectiveness and performance of this newly developed diagnosis system, several simulated fire examples were tested and the causes of fire examples were detected effectively by this system. Additional researches will be needed to decide the minimal significant level of the solution and the weighting level of important factors.

  • Korea rapidly arranged urbanization and overpopulation with high growth of economy and all kinds of decrepit facilities are scattered all over the downtown. If there is a strong wind in fire, fire is rapidly increased by various fire spread factors. And Korea cannot build prediction model of urban fire combustion phenomena because there is no studies that physically explains the suitable flame phenomena for its real state.   • The rate of heat release is probably the single most important measure of fire hazard. Several tech-niques were developed for the measurement of rate of heat release, but were not suitable for fire test-ing purpose. Recently the application of oxygen consumption principle made it possible to development of well-characterized heat release rate measurement apparatus, the furniture calorimeter for large-scale fire tests and the cone calorimeter for bench-scale fire tests. The cone calorimeter can be used to determine the ignitability as well as heat release rate and smoke development, mass loss rate, combustion gas production etc. from burning materials. Thus, test method using cone calorimeter, an internationally recognized and accepted for the evalua-tion of fire properties, is a very promising tool for combustion study on various kind of materials and products.

  • This paper has been studied about the real time monitoring system development using TCP/IP ethernet and RS-422 serial communication link in general communication methods that rocket fire control agents could be monitoring about real time Rocket fire event procedures and be managing total rocket fire courses. Also, this paper has been studied the HMI(Human Machine Interface) control program and algorithm that guarantee confidential control for the Fire Display System.

  • With a rapid development of economy, more high-rise buildings are being constructed in large cities than before. As a result steel members such as beams, columns make a great role of the building construction, and the need of them to be protected to have enough fire resistance is in-creasing . But conducting a real fire test to all the members is almost impossible. So prior to do conduct a real fire test of the protected steel members, evaluating the fire resistant rating of them by means of their specific properties might be economical things. This study is aimed to introduce the fire resistant rating of protected steel members without a real fire test through the related studies and data.

  • The cities of Joseon dynasty had weak structure against fire. Fires have resulted in damage on property and life. But they gave a chance to development various policies, planning tools, techniques and facilities for minimizing the damages of fire. This study aims to understand the progression of fire control policy in Joseon dynasty. Fire control policies can be divided into four categories ; fire prevention, prohibition of fire spreading, fire extinguishing and rescue system. The progression of fire control policies can be divided into three steps. In the first step, from Taejong to Moonjong, various policy, such as regal & administrative system, planning tools, fire control works & appliances have been built and executed. In the second step, from Danjong to Hyunjong, fire control work have taken the central place of fire control policy. In the third step, from Sookjong to Sunjong, development of fire control appliances have taken the central place of fire control policy.
