Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the counseling status of overseas Koreans using emergency medical counseling services, identify frequently occurring types of diseases, explore approaches to emergency treatment guidance, and protect overseas Koreans from medical blind spots, thereby enhancing the quality of emergency medical counseling services. Methods: This study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Kongju National University (KNU_IRB_2023-31), and data were collected and analyzed from 10,951 cases of emergency medical counseling services utilized by overseas Koreans from the National Fire Agency from 2018 to 2022. Results: Emergency medical consultation services for overseas Koreans included a majority of non-trauma patients, with medical consultations being predominant. Terrestrial patients commonly seek advice for internal medical symptoms, whereas maritime patients frequently present with trauma-related symptoms, with a higher incidence of cardiac arrest and altered consciousness cases at sea. The development of self-diagnostic tests based on internal medicine symptoms is necessary for terrestrial patients, whereas stakeholder education is required for maritime patients. Conclusion: Due to the different types of diseases occurring in terrestrial and maritime patients, emergency medical consultation services for overseas Koreans should be implemented according to the specific characteristics of each patient. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and disseminate response manuals that are tailored to medical and trauma-related symptoms.

도시화 및 산업화로 대형화재 예방 및 관리, 조치에 대한 중요성이 나날이 증가하고 있다. 하지만 인구 50만 이상 대도시인 포항시는 대형화재 피해를 최소화시킬 수 있는 요소인 골든 타임 내 화재 현장 도착율이 상대적으로 현저히 낮다. 그러므로 추가적인 소방력 배치 및 인프라 투자가 필요한 실정이다. 그러나 예산과 인력은 한정되어 있기에 선별적인 소방력 배치 및 인프라 투자를 해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 포항시 행정구역 간의 선별적인 소방 서비스 제공 및 관련 의사결정에 도움을 줄 수 있는 지표인 화재 발생 시 화재 피해 수준을 비교할 수 있는 화재 피해 등급을 제시하고자 하였다. 화재 피해 등급 측정을 위해 OD cost matrix를 사용하여 도로망에 따른 화재 발생 시 화재 규모가 커질 가능성이 높은 화재 취약지역을 예측하였으며, 인구와 건물 밀도, 소방차 접근성에 따른 화재 발생 시 화재 피해 수준을 예측한 화재 피해도를 측정하였다. 화재 피해 등급을 통해 포항시뿐만 아니라 다른 지역의 소방력 배치 및 소방 서비스 관련 다양한 의사결정에 도움 줄 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

This study was conducted to identify an initial fire station experience of EMT students, so to better understand their' practice experience in fire station. The subjects were 28 EMT students of C department of Emergency Medical technology in C city, who were demonstrating at the fire station in C city. This study was approached by phenomenological method, collected data were analyzed by Colaizzi's method, the results were as a follows. From the protocol, 201 significant statements were organized into 93 formulated meanings. From the formulated meanings, 30 themes were identified, organized into 16 theme clusters, and then 7 categories. EMT students got experienced 'tension' in resulting from new training situation and at the field practice, 'comport and gratitude', in feeling of identity and a bond sympathy with senior EMT, in training environment and heartfelt care, 'stress' from lack of knowledge and skill, difficulties in field practice for 24 hours, in dealing with making interpersonal relationship with patient and staffs and from the insufficiency of instruction, 'confidence feeling' from the participation of field treatment, in improving of learning, in self-esteem of EMT job, 'confusing feeling' of conflict of the path in work, 'disappointment and doubt' by the discrepancy between learning and actuality, and disappointment of actuality, 'feeling of lack' based on the passive attitude. The results of this study are to use as basic data for students attending fire station experience for the first time.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of organizational culture on job satisfaction of fire officials. Method : The subjects of this study were 251 fire officials in Gongju and Choengju province and Daejeon City. Data were collected using self-administering questionnaire from February 20 to March 20 in 2006. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 14.0 program. Real number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were calculated, and t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple regression were analyzed. Result : The results of this study were as follows : 1. The job satisfaction was found to be significant positive correlations with full organizational culture(r = .595, p = .000). 2. The job satisfaction was found to be in significant positive with rational goal culture, open system culture and human relation culture. 3. How organizational culture affects the job satisfactions was as follows; 25.2% of core values of manpower, 6.3% of rational goal culture, and 4.9% of job initiative. Conclusion : Enhancing the job satisfaction of fire officials would improve personalized factors and changes rational goal culture.

Purpose: The aims of this study were to identify the relationships among alcohol level, impact of event, occupational stress, and distress disclosure and to determine the influences on alcohol level among fire officials. Methods: Participants in this cross-sectional, descriptive study were 241 fire officials. Data were collected from June 2018 to July 2018 using self-reported questionnaires and were analyzed using IBM SPSS 22.0 software (IBM, Armonk, NY, USA). Results: The results revealed significant positive relationships between alcohol level and impact of event, and impact of event and occupational stress, and a negative relationships between occupational stress and distress disclosure. Regression analysis revealed that alcohol level accounted for 9.2% of the variance by gender, and impact of event(e.g., sleep problems and emotional numbness). Conclusion: These findings provide information that can be used in the development of mental health promotion programs for fire officials.
