Environment Adaptive Emergency Evacuation Route GUIDE through Digital Signage Systems

  • Nowadays, the most of commercial buildings are build-out with complex architecture and decorated with more complicated interiors of buildings so establishing intelligible escape routes becomes an important case of fire or other emergency in a limited time. The commercial buildings are already equipped with multiple exit signs and these exit signs may create confusion and leads the people into different directions under emergency. This can jeopardize the emergency situation into a chaotic state, especially in a complex layout buildings. There are many research focused on implementing different approached to improve the exit sign system with better visual navigating effects, such as the use of laser beams, the combination of audio and video cues, etc. However the digital signage system based emergency exit sign management is one of the best solution to guide people under emergency situations to escape. This research paper, propose an intelligent evacuation route GUIDE that uses the combination centralized Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and digital signage for people safety and avoids dangers from emergency conditions. This proposed system applies WSN to detect the environment condition in the building and uses an evacuation algorithm to estimate the safe route to escape using the sensor information and then activates the signage system to display the safe evacuation route instruction GUIDE according to the location the signage system is installed. This paper presented the prototype of the proposed signage system and execution time to find the route with future research directions. The proposed system provides a natural intelligent evacuation route interface for self or remote operation in facility management to efficiently GUIDE people to the safe exit under emergency conditions.

농촌주택 표준설계도의 관련 법적 기준에의 적합성 분석 연구 (A Suitability Analysis on the legal standards of the Rural Housing Standard Plans)

  • The Rural Housing Standard Plans for improving the quality of life and housing stability in rural areas has been developed 87 types from 1994 to 2012. However, some types of Plans do not satisfy the current legal standard in accordance with social and legal changes. Standard plans has the same effect as a building permit, and replace it, so legal suitability of Plans is an important. Therefore, it is required the suitability analysis on the legal standards of Rural Housing Standard Plans. The Purpose of this study is to derive improper types and items of the Rural Housing Standard Plans on the legal standards. In this study, we analyzed its suitability on the legal standards(law on fire-fighting system installation and safety management, energy saving design criteria for buildings, structural checklist for small buildings, the types of drawing for building permit) in accordance with "rules for the operation of standard plans". And we analyzed the utilization of the Rural Housing Standard Plans through downloads from welchon portal.

Real-time Network Middleware Supporting Fault-Tolerant Operations for Personal Robot System

  • By development of a robot technology, personal robot is being developed very actively. Various infra-technologies are accumulated in hardware and software how by internal a lot of research and development efforts, and it is circumstance that actual commodity is announced. But, personal robot is applied to be acting near human, and takes charge of safety and connected directly a lot of works of home security, gas-leakage, fire-warning facilities, or/and etc. So personal robot must do safe and stable action even if any unexpected accidents are happened, important functions are always operated. In this paper, we are wished to show design structures for supporting fault-tolerant operation from our real-time robot middleware viewpoint. Personal robot, in being developed, was designed by module structure to do to interconnect and to interoperate among each module that is mutually implemented by each research facilities or company. Also, each modules can use appreciate network system that is fit for handling and communicating its data. To guarantee this, we have being developed a real-time network middleware, for especially personal robot. Recent our working is to add and to adjust some functions like connection management, distributed routing mechanism, remote object management, and making platform independent robot application execution environment with self-moving of robot application, for fault-tolerant personal robot.

도시철도의 능동적 감시체계를 위한 기능 분석 (Function Analysis for the active surveillance system of urban transit)

  • Most of the urban transit operation company in Korea have a passive surveillance system to monitor the status of the passengers and facilities in the urban transit service area. The surveillance system is based on CCTV, closed circuit television, and several sensors, such as a fire sensor. However, this system has some limitations to prevent and cope with the emergency quickly. So the urban transit operation companies have plans to be change their surveillance system to be active. The active surveillance system has an intelligent function to detect the event predefined by managers automatically. To construct the active surveillance system, there are a standard concept design and a function analysis. In this paper, we propose the classification of the functions of the active surveillance system for urban transit. We divide the functions into five parts, ordinary monitoring, safety monitoring, environment monitoring, administration support, and record management. And we describe the systems related to the every functions to clarify the classified functions.

Measuring Visual Attention Processing of Virtual Environment Using Eye-Fixation Information

  • Numerous scholars have explored the modeling, control, and optimization of energy systems in buildings, offering new insights about technology and environments that can advance industry innovation. Eye trackers deliver objective eye-gaze data about visual and attentional processes. Due to its flexibility, accuracy, and efficiency in research, eye tracking has a control scheme that makes measuring rapid eye movement in three-dimensional space possible (e.g., virtual reality, augmented reality). Because eye movement is an effective modality for digital interaction with a virtual environment, tracking how users scan a visual field and fix on various digital objects can help designers optimize building environments and materials. Although several scholars have conducted Virtual Reality studies in three-dimensional space, scholars have not agreed on a consistent way to analyze eye tracking data. We conducted eye tracking experiments using objects in three-dimensional space to find an objective way to process quantitative visual data. By applying a 12 × 12 grid framework for eye tracking analysis, we investigated how people gazed at objects in a virtual space wearing a headmounted display. The findings provide an empirical base for a standardized protocol for analyzing eye tracking data in the context of virtual environments.

A novel risk assessment approach for data center structures

  • Previous earthquakes show that, structural safety evaluations should include the evaluation of nonstructural components. Failure of nonstructural components can affect the operational capacity of critical facilities, such as hospitals and fire stations, which can cause an increase in number of deaths. Additionally, failure of nonstructural components may result in economic, architectural, and historical losses of community. Accelerations and random vibrations must be under the predefined limitations in structures with high technological equipment, data centers in this case. Failure of server equipment and anchored server racks are investigated in this study. A probabilistic study is completed for a low-rise rigid sample structure. The structure is investigated in two versions, (i) conventional fixed-based structure and (ii) with a base isolation system. Seismic hazard assessment is completed for the selected site. Monte Carlo simulations are generated with selected parameters. Uncertainties in both structural parameters and mechanical properties of isolation system are included in simulations. Anchorage failure and vibration failures are investigated. Different methods to generate fragility curves are used. The site-specific annual hazard curve is used to generate risk curves for two different structures. A risk matrix is proposed for the design of data centers. Results show that base isolation systems reduce the failure probability significantly in higher floors. It was also understood that, base isolation systems are highly sensitive to earthquake characteristics rather than variability in structural and mechanical properties, in terms of accelerations. Another outcome is that code-provided anchorage failure limitations are more vulnerable than the random vibration failure limitations of server equipment.

급기 가압 제연구역 출입문에 적용되는 개방력 기준의 적합성 여부에 관한 연구 (Verifying the Suitability or Unsuitability of the Opening Force Criteria Applied to Air Pressurized Access Door to a Smoke Control Zone)

  • 본 연구에서는 급기 가압 제연구역 출입문의 개방력 기준을 실측하여 한국인의 체형에 적합한지 여부를 검증하였다. 개방력 기준의 검증은 기술표준원의 인체표준정보를 근거로 NFSC 501A, NFPA 92A 및 BS-EN 12101-6와 비교하였다. 개방력을 측정할 때 인체의 자세는 일어서서 오른손으로 출입문을 미는 것을 기준으로 하였다. 실측한 값을 분석한 결과 30대 남성 및 여성이 미는 힘의 최대값을 나타냈고, 60대에서 최소값을 나타냈다. 또한 모든 연령에서 미는 힘의 편차가 크게 발생한 것으로 확인되었다. NFSC 501A 와 비교한 결과 남성은 20대, 30대, 50대를 제외한 모든 성별과 연령에서 기준보다 낮은 값을 나타냈다. 또한 NFPA 92A 의 기준과 비교할 때 모든 성별과 연령에서 측정치의 평균이 기준보다 낮다. 그리고 BS-EN 12101-6 의 기준과 비교할 때 남성은 모든 연령에서 기준보다 높았으며, 여성은 모든 연령에서 기준보다 낮은 것으로 측정되었다. 따라서 신체적 조건이 외국인과 다른 한국인의 체형을 고려할 때 현재 적용되고 있는 제연구역 출입문의 개방력의 국내 기준 110 N은 하향 조정할 필요가 있는 것으로 판단된다. 또한 국제 기준을 임의로 사용하는 것도 문제가 있으므로 건축물과 사용자의 특성을 고려한 기준의 적용이 필요하다는 것을 제안하고자 한다.

축격손상을 받은 의사등방성 탄소섬유강화 복합재의 굽힘피로강도 (A study on the fatigue bending strength of quasi-isotropic CFRP laminates subjected to impact damage)

  • CFRP는 금속에 비해 가벼우면서 강도 및 강성과 내열성 등 기계적 특성이 매우 뛰어나 다양한 분야에서 사용되어지고 있으며 최근 우주항공 분야에 까지 사용되어지고 있지만 외부 충격하중으로 인하여 내부에 발생되는 손상에 대해서는 매우 취약한 단점을 보이고 있다. 본 연구는 외부 충격을 받은 CFRP 적층판의 내부 충격손상에 대해 반복적인 사용에 따른 파괴에 이르기까지의 강도를 고찰함으로써 우주항공 분야에 사용되는 항공기 외판의 설계를 위한 설계 데이터를 확보하기 위한 실험적 연구이다. 실험 빙법으로는 적층구성을 달라하여 제작된 의사등방형 CFRP 시험편과 직교이방성 CFRP 시험편에 대해 직경 5mm의 강구를 충돌시킴으로써 발생하는 충격손상을 관찰한 후 3점 굽힘피로실힘을 통하여 내부 층간분리 및 충격손상의 진전을 관찰하였다. 시험편 내부의 파괴가 발생하기 까지 굽힘피로실험에 따른 굽힘피로강도를 고찰한 결과 강구에 의해 충격을 받은 면이 인장을 받는 경우와 충격을 받는 경우 모두 의사등방성 적층구성의 강도가 높게 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

LNG 선박에서 천연가스 재액화공정의 재액화량에 관한 연구 (Study of LNG Reliquefaction Process in LNG Carriers)

  • LNG선박에서 발생한 기화가스의 처리를 위해 지금까지는 기화가스를 보조연료로 사용하거나 연소시켰지만 선박의 대형화와 디젤엔진의 사용으로 인해 기화가스를 처리할 수 있는 방법이 제한적인 상황이 되었다. 이를 극복하기 위한 방안으로 고안된 재액화공정은 장치비용과 선박의 제한적인 에너지 공급문제 때문에 지금의 형태를 갖게 되었고 3세대 공정까지 기술발전을 이룩했지만 고효율을 위해 계속해서 연구 개발 중이다. 재액화공정의 방식은 크게 Reverse Brayton Cycle System(RBCS)과 Claude Cycle System(CCS)으로 구분된다. 이 연구에서는 두 가지 System을 분석함으로써 이상적인 피드 상태를 도출하고, 장치 설정을 변경하여 재액화 효율을 높이는데 적합한 설정을 결정하기 위해 HYSYS를 사용하였다. 도출된 경과는 고효율 재액화공정의 설계를 위한 자료로 활용이 가능하다.

LNGC 디젤기관 크랭크 챔버용 액체질소 불활성가스 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study of Liquid Nitrogen Inert Gas System for LNGC Diesel Engine Crank Chamber)

  • LNGC 주기관의 크랭크 챔버 내 유증기 폭발 방지를 위해 기존의 이산화탄소 가스인젝터가 부착된 오일미스트 감지기 외에 불활성가스 시스템을 설치할 필요가 있다. 특히, LNGC 선박은 액체질소를 손쉽게 확보할 수 있는 장점이 있기 때문에 액체질소를 이용한 불활성가스 시스템을 도입하기 위한 설계 기초 단계로서 해석적 연구를 시행하였다. 또한 액체질소 최소 소모량 시스템을 개발하기 위하여 층상류 모델을 적용하였으며, 층상류 흐름에 미치는 유로관경, 포화압력과 선박동요에 따른 배관 기울기 등의 영향에 대해서도 조사하였다. 또한 질소와 같은 극저온 유체들과 여기에 사용된 예측 모델과의 비교 검토를 통하여 극저온 유체에 대해서도 모델의 유효성을 검증하였으며, 액체질소 불활성가스 시스템의 액체질소를 가스로 상변환 시키는데 소요되는 가열기의 열부하도 예측할 수 있었다.
