As a basic study for investigating the development of the stress-induced crack in Hoek-Brown rock, a homogenization technique of elastic cracks is proposed. The onset of crack is monitored by Hoek-Brown empirical criterion, while the orientation of the crack is determined by the critical plane approach. The concept of volume averaging in stress and strain component was invoked to homogenize the representative rock volume which consists of intact rock and cracks. The formulation results in the constitutive relations for the homogenized equivalent anisotropic material. The homogenization model was implemented in the standard FEM code COSMOSM. The numerical uniaxial tests were performed under plane strain condition to check the validity of the propose numerical model. The effect of friction between the loading plate and the rock sample on the mode of deformation and fracturing was examined by assuming two different contact conditions. The numerical simulation revealed that the homogenized model is able to capture the salient features of deformation and fracturing which are observed commonly in the uniaxial compression test.
Recently, there is a need to produce a large forged part for the flight, shipping, some energies, and military industries, etc. Therefore, an open die forging technique of cast ingots is required to obtain higher quality of large size forged parts. Cogging process is one of the primary stages in many open die forging processes. In the cogging process prior to some open die forging processes, internal cavities have to be eliminated for defect-free. The present work is concerned with the elimination of the internal cavities in large ingots so as to obtain sound products. In this study, hot compression tests were carried out to obtain the flow stress of cast microstructure at different temperature and strain rates. The FEM analysis is performed to investigate the overlap defect of cast ingots during cogging stage. The measured flow stress data were used to simulate the cogging process of cast ingot using the practical material properties. Also the analysis of cavity closure is performed by using the $DEFORM^{TM}-3D$. The calculated results of cavity closure behavior are compared with the measured results before and after cogging, which are scanned by the X-ray scanner. From this result, the criteria for deformation amounts effect on the cavity closure can be investigated by the comparison between practical experiment and numerical analysis.

This paper presents vibration analysis of maskless exposure module in printed circuit board(PCB) manufacturing system. In order to complete exposure process in PCB, masking type module has been widely used in electronics industries. However, masking process confronts some limitations of application due to higher production cost for masking as well as lower printing resolution. Therefore, maskless exposure module is started to be in the spotlight for flexible production system to meet the needs of fabrication in variable patterns at low cost. Since maskless exposure process adopts direct patterning to PCB, vibration problems become more critical compared to conventional masking type process. Moreover, movements of exposure engine as well as stage generate vibration sources in the system. Thus, it is imperative to analyze the vibration characteristics for the maskless exposure module to improve the quality and accuracy of PCB. In this study, vibration analysis using the finite element analysis is conducted to identify the critical structural parts deteriorating vibration performance. Also, Experimental investigations are conducted by single/dual encoder measurement process under the operating module speed. Measurement points of vibration are selected by three places, which are base of stage, exposure engine and top of stage, to check the effect of vibration from the exposure engine. Comparisons between analysis results and experimental measurement are conducted to confirm the accuracy of analysis results including the developed FE model. Finally, this studies show feasibility of optimal design using the developed FE analysis model.

BY the Transformers and reactors, the input electrical energy is converted into magnetic energy. At the end through the magnetic energy was passed at the output parameter. Specially At the flyback transformer or a reactor airgap were designed to contain more magnetic energy. But that work is very difficult for the optimal design. It is that Contradictions are between the length of the Air-gap, Winding inductance, DC bias. As to e Several conflicting conditions in order to determine the optimum Air-gap has a lot of experience and trial & error is necessary. The approach proposed in this paper, the auxiliary winding on the core attached to part of primary core, that by applying a DC voltage has a dramatic effect like Core with designed Air-gap. This inventiveness and advantage is to regulate arbitrarily the Saturation Flux Quantity by the input signal to secondary winding. Accordingly obtained the biggest effect is that increasing limits of the saturation current destined by the material and shape of the conventional core. In other words, that can decreas the size of the transformer and reactor, While maintaining the current saturation capacity. This paper, prove its effect as using the local flux saturation in transformers and reactors for research by the computer program using the finite element method (FEM) simulation, followed by actual experiment to verify

The authors have investigated the NVH problems of drive system in full vehicle test. However it is difficult to define the NVH problems of driveline system. Since it is hard to measure the rotating part and it is vague that only the drive system induces the NVH problem. Vibration in a driveline is presented in this paper. In the experiment, the rear sub-frame and propeller shafts and axle were composed and mounted with rubber each other. For applying the vibration input instead of the torsional vibration effect of an engine, the shaker was taken. In particular, torsional vibration due to fluctuating forced vibration excitation across the joint between driveline and rear sub-frame was carefully examined. Accordingly, the joint response was checked from experiments and the FE-simulation using FRF (frequency response function) analysis was performed. All test results were signal processed and validated against numerical simulations. In present study, the new test bench for measuring the vibration signal and simulating the vehicle chassis system was proposed. The modal value and the mode shape of components were analyzed using the CAE model to identify the important components affecting driveline noise and vibration. It could be reached that the simplified test bench could be well established and be used for design guide and development of the vehicle chassis components.

Effects of bipolar pulse driving frequency between 50 kHz and 250 kHz on the discharge shapes were analyzed by measuring plasma characteristics by OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy) and Langmuir probe. Plasma characteristics were modeled by a simple electric field analysis and fluid plasma modeling. Discharge shapes by a continuous dc and bipolar pulsed dc were different as a dome-type and a vertical column-type at the cathode. From OES, the intensity of 811.5 nm wavelength, the one of the main peaks of Ar, decreased to about 43% from a continuous dc to 100 kHz. For increasing from 100 kHz to 250 kHz, the intensity of 811.5 nm wavelength also decreased by 46%. The electron density decreased by 74% and the electron temperature increased by 36% at the specific position due to the smaller and denser discharge shape for increasing pulse frequency. Through the numerical analysis, the negative glow shape of a continuous dc were similar to the electric potential distribution by FEM (Finite Element Method). For the bipolar pulsed dc, we found that the electron temperature increased to maximum 10 eV due to the voltage spikes by the fast electron acceleration generated in pre-sheath. This may induce the electrons and ions from plasma to increase the energetic substrate bombardment for the dense thin film growth.
Developed ground cavity due to leakage of decrepit old sewer pipe causes ground surface settlement and brittle fracture of pavement. Recently, for 5 years, frequency of occurrence of ground subsidence phenomenon tends to increase rapidly and/or steadily. It is difficult to investigate ground surface settlement and/or subsidence in urban area because most ground surfaces are covered with asphalt or concrete pavement. In this research, therefore, ground surface settlement, influence zone and settlement of sewer pipe were analyzed using finite element method. Not only reinforced effect of pseudo-plastic backfill that is applied to prevent ground surface settlement or subsidence spot, was compared and analyzed using numerical analysis program, but also direct shear test was carried out to determine strength parameters of pseudo-plastic backfill.
Ferromagnetic material's residual magnetization is remained because of the interaction between domains from external apply field, so the electrical and electronic industry and area of defense development request deperm protocol which makes the residual magnetization to 0. But the deperm protocols which are used theses days are developed by using only experience and experiment, so we have to develop deperm protocol considering hysteresis curve. In this paper, Anhysteretic Deperm, Deperm-ME, Flash-Deperm were analyzed using two dimensional finite element method and Preisach model that was formulated by property of magnetic materials. From that analysis, the relations between hysteresis curve and deperm variable are compared by analyzing the trace of Preisach plane. Also, an efficient current ratio of deperm protocol, is proposed.

In the process to manufacture for metallic structures, control of welding deformation is one of an important problems connected with reliability of the manufactured structures so that welding deformation should be measured and controlled with quickly and actively. Also, welding parameters which have as lot of effects on welding deformation such as arc voltage, welding current and welding speed can also be controlled. The objectives for this study were to develop a simple 2-D FEM to calculate not only the transient thermal histories but also the sizes of fusion and heat-affected zone (HAZ) in multi pass arc welds including the butt and fillet weld type with dissimilar thickness, and to concentrate on a developed model for the finding the parameters of Godak's moving heat source model based on a GA. The developed model includes a GA program using MATLB and GA toolbox, and a batch mode thermal model using ANSYS software. Not only the thermal model was verified by comparison with Goldak's work but also the developed model was validated with molten zone section experimental data.
Roll-to-roll forming process is one of important metal processing technology because the process is simple and economical. These days, with these merits, roll-to-roll forming process is tried to be employed in manufacturing the circuit board, barrier ribs and solar cell plate. The solar cell plate may have millions of patterns, and the analysis of forming considering all the patterns is impossible due to the computational costs. In this study, analyses are carried out for various numbers of patterns and the results are compared. It is shown that the analyses results with four row patterns and twelve row patterns are same. So, it is considered that the analysis can be carried out for only four rows of pattern for the design of incremental roll-to-roll forming process. Also formability is analysed for various number of mesh, protrusion shapes and forming temperature.
