Purpose: This study examined the improved sensory, hand function, postural balance and activities of daily living (ADL) through somatosensory stimulation, such as the facilitation of functional reaching and tactile, proprioceptive stimulus of the upper limb (UL) and hand. Methods: Seventeen stroke patients having problems with motor and somatosensory deficits were selected in Bobath Memorial Hospital adult rehabilitation center. The patients were divided into two groups; the sensorimotor deficit group (SMDG) and motor deficit group (MDG). Somatosensory stimulation on the UL, physical therapy and occupational therapy were carried out three times a week over a six week these treatments were performed in both group period. To compare each group, the following assessment tools were used: such as tactile detection thresholds (TDT), two point discrimination on the affected side (TPDas), unaffected side (TPDus) stereognosis (ST) manual function test, hand function on the affected side (HFas) and unaffected side (HFus), Postural Assessment Scale for Stroke (PASS) and Korean version Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI). Results: In the SMDG, somatosensory stimulation on the UL was statistically important for TDT, TPDas, TPDus (except for the thener), ST, hand function on HFas, on HFus, PASS length of displacement with foam (LDFSEO), and K-MBI. In the MDG, somatosensory stimulation on the UL was important for TDT, TPDas, TPDus (except index finger) length of displacement with the eyes open, LDFSEO, HFas, HFus, PASS and K-MBI. In addition, there was a significant difference in the PASS between SMDG and MDG. Conclusion: Somatosensory stimulation on the UL affects the sensory, hand function, postural control and ADLs performance.

In picture bible, the picture is helpful for showing story more vividly and specifically and it is helpful for finding the meaning of bible hidden behind familiarity. It plays the role of the most powerful testimony and expression, with which human provides himself. The purpose of study was to grasp the relation among historical background of the middle age, human's characteristic and symbolic color by considering the fact that the costume expressed in Maciejowski Bible, which is a picture bible of the middle age and observing type, color and decoration of costume. Among 46 folios organizing Maciejowski Bible, 129 pictures explaining the Book of Genesis, the Book of Exodus, the Book of Leviticus, the Book of Numbers, the Book of Deuteronomy, the Book of Joshua and the Book of Judges, which belong to the former 400 years of the old Testament, were analyzed for people's costumes. The pictures shown in Maciejowski Bible portrays object, costume and behavior on the background of France of the 13th century so we can find out the precious natures of middle age's costume, weapon and armor. Especially, the portrait about finger armor of chain mail attached in hauberk becomes the outstanding evidence that can encroach the discussion over whether it was used in the end of 1300s. Regarding costumes of main characters, they wore chemise and braies as underwear, wore tunic or cotte having various lengths from the length reaching knee to the length reaching 8round as basic costume and wore mantle with different-colored lining and hose with various colors. In the war picture, we can see hauberk made with chain mail and cyclas with long slit, which was worn over hauberk, barrel helmet, norman helmet and steel school cap. Regarding cap. man usually wore coif, beret, shade-shaped cap, straw hat and woman wore the decoration using veil and hairlace and used the method to wrap whole hair with net. As the colors used in the costume of the picture bible, scarlet, blue, green and brown were usually used in order. They usually wore costumes decorated splendidly with the colors haying hish brightness and chroma.

The ubiquitin E3 ligase COP1 (Constitutive Photomorphogenesis 1) is a protein repressor of photomorphogenesis in Arabidopsisplants, and it found in various organisms, including animals. The COP1 protein regulates the stability of many of the light-signaling components that are involved in photomorphogenesis and in the developmental processes. To study the effect of COP1 on flowering in a short day plant, we have cloned a full-length of PnCOP1 (Pharbitis nil COP1) cDNA from Pharbitis nil Choisy cv. Violet, and we examined its transcript levels under various conditions. A full-length PnCOP1 cDNA consists of 2,280 bp nucleotidesthat contain 47 bp of 5'-UTR, 232 bp of 3'-UTR including the poly (A) tail, and 1,998 bp of the coding sequence. The deduced amino acid sequence contains 666 amino acids, giving it a theoretical molecular weight of 75 kD and a isolectric point of 6.2. The PnCOP1 contains three distinct domains, an N-terminal $Zn^2+$-binding RING-finger domain, a coiled-coil structure, and WD40 repeats at the C-terminal, implying that the protein plays a role in protein-protein interactions. The PnCOP1 transcript was detected in the cotyledon, hypocotyls and leaves, but not in root. The levels of the PnCOP1 transcript were reduced in leaves that were a farther distance away from the cotyledons. The expression level of the PnCOP1 gene was inhibited by light, while the expression was increased in the dark. During the floral inductive 16 hour-dark period for Pharbitis nil, the expression was increased and it reached its maximum at the 12th hour of the dark period. The levels of PnCOP1 mRNA were dramatically reduced upon light illumination. These results suggest that PnCOP1 may play an important function in the floral induction of Pharbitis nil.

In this paper, we have fabricated the PHEMT's with AlGaAs/InGaAs/GaAs and measured characteristics of DC and frequencies. The PHEMT's has a 0.35$\mu\textrm{m}$ gate length, gate width of 60$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 80$\mu\textrm{m}$, and fingers of 2 and 4. From the measurements results for the 60$\mu\textrm{m}$ ${\times}$ 2 PHEMT's, we obtained 1.2V of Vk, -3.5V of Vp, 46mA of Idss, 221mS/mmof gm, and 3.6dB of S$\sub$21/ gain, 45GHz of f$\sub$T,/ 100GHz of fmax. And, in case of 80$\mu\textrm{m}$ ${\times}$ 4 PHEMT's, we obtained 1.2V of Vk, -4.5V of Vp, 125mA of Idss, 198mS/mm of gm, and 2.0dB of S$\sub$21/ gain. 44GHz of f$\sub$T/, 70GHz of fmax at 35GHz frequency. Also, MAG are decreased as a number of finger are Increased.

Objectives : To obtain pulse information, oriental medical doctors usually use the three finger pulse diagnosis method. Although the diagnostic positions are very important, the exact positions are not known because of the uncertain conversion of measures of length (bun, chon, chuk) and misunderstanding of the related concepts of oriental medicine. In this study, we proposed relative positions for the detection of three pulses with a pulse analyzer. Methods : The proposal was made based mainly on several literature reviews, especially the original texts, and the examination of anthropometric characteristics of 78 individuals. Results : The Kwan is the spot where the radial pulse can be felt well near the eminent head of the radius at wrist, high bone. The position of Chon should be apart from Kwan by 6/10 distance between the high bone and wrist joint of each individual. Finally, the position of Chuk is apart from Kwan by 6.5/100 distance between the high bone and the elbow joint of each individual. Conclusions : Adapting those proposed positions for measuring three pulses can provide more consistent information to what an oriental doctor obtains than a pulse analyzer applied to other positions.

Separate extraction of source ($R_S$) and drain ($R_D$) resistances caused by process, layout variations and long term degradation is very important in modeling and characterization of MOSFETs. In this work, we propose "Avalanche Hot-Source Method (AHSM)" for simple separated extraction of $R_S$ and $R_D$ in a single device. In AHSM, the high field region near the drain works as a new source for abundant carriers governing the current-voltage relationship in the MOSFET at high drain bias. We applied AHSM to n-channel MOSFETs as single-finger type with different channel width/length (W/L) combinations and verified its usefulness in the extraction of $R_S$ and $R_D$. We also confirmed that there is a negligible drift in the threshold voltage ($V_T$) and the subthreshold slope (SSW) even after application of the method to devices under practical conditions.

Recommendable reconstructive surgery in the patient with thumb amputation through base of the first metacarpal bone is pollicization. Some patients who do not agree with harvest sound finger as a new thumb, we can consider other options as toe transplantation or osteoplastic thumb reconstruction for creating thumb. Toe transplantation to the thumb is effective procedure in the amputation of distal to metacarpal shaft, it is rarely indicated in the cases of proximal to base of the first metacarpal bone. We performed three cases of modified osteoplastic thumb reconstruction with free vascularized rib that combined with scapular free flap or radial forearm flap. The length of transplanted rib ranged from 7~11cm, the donor vessels are posterior intercostal artery and vein which anastomosed to radial artery. The grafted rib wrapped with additional free flap for creating new thumb. Result of that procedure was not much encouraging, aesthetic appearance and mobility of thumb were not so satisfactory but reconstructed thumb gave improvement of the hand function without sacrificing toe or other digit. That gave reasonable stability for powerful side pinch and three pod pinch and opposable thumb with normal carpo-metacarpal joint motion that can give much function to the thumb absent hand. In spite of those disadvantages, thumb reconstruction with rib transfer can be useful for patients who do not want to lose another part of the body for creating thumb in basal amputation of the thumb metacarpal.

We present an augmented reality (AR) application for cell phone where users put a virtual pet on their palms and play/interact with the pet by moving their hands and fingers naturally. The application is fundamentally based on hand/palm pose recognition and finger motion estimation, which is the main concern in this paper. We propose a fast and efficient hand/palm pose recognition method which uses natural features (e.g. direction, width, contour shape of hand region) extracted from a hand image with prior knowledge for hand shape or geometry (e.g. its approximated shape when a palm is open, length ratio between palm width and pal height). We also propose a natural interaction method which recognizes natural motion of fingers such as opening/closing palm based on fingertip tracking. Based on the proposed methods, we developed and tested the AR application on an ultra-mobile PC (UMPC).

The typical traction diverticulum of the mid-thoracic esophagus is conical or funnel shaped with a wide orifice, is small (rarely exceeding 2cm in length), and is situated horizontally or extends superiorly. It is a true diverticulum, having a complete investment by the esophageal muscle coats. Each of these characteristics promotes easy emptying of the diverticulum. Since food accumulation is presented, there is no tendency to progressive enlargement of the sac, and no associated dysphagia. The diverticula of mid-esophagus rarely develop and rarely produce symptoms. When symptoms develop, they are usually caused by granulomatous infections of the mediastinal lymph nodes. And also such diverticula only rarely give rise to significant complications, the most serious of which is a tracheobronchial fistula. Generally when such complications develop or a diverticulum itself produces symptoms, moderate or severe, surgery intervenes. A case of mid-esophageal diverticulum, traction type, which surgically treated with good results, was experienced at the Department of Thoracic Surgery of Kyung-Pook University. School of Medicine. In this case, there were substernal discomfort, acid regurgitation, and back pain for about 6 months. On the operative findings, it was noticed that the diverticulum was developed by traction and adhesion of perihilar nodes to the esophageal wall. The diverticulum was a small finger tip size and the neck of it was obscure. The surrounding inflammatory change was minimal.

According to the frequent use of mobile devices, risk of repetitive strain injury for the finger joints was increasing recently. The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of muscular endurance limit of the thumb between adults and children. A total of thirty subjects (15 adults: $41.0{\pm}7.9$ years and 15 children: $9.5{\pm}2.7$ years) was recruited for this experiment. Maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) of the thumb was measured for 100 trials for each subject by using a push-pull gauge. From the maximum peak value obtained, three main factors (MVC, endurance limit, and fatigue index) were defined to quantify fatigue characteristics of the thumb flexor muscle. The experimental results showed that the mean of MVC, endurance limit, and fatigue index of the children were approximately 50% compared to the adults (p < 0.001). From the results of Pearson correlation test, the endurance limit was highly correlated with weight, age, hand length rather than height. Based on this study, children are more vulnerable to repetitive task using the thumb such as text/SNS messaging, gaming, and scrolling.
