Carbon fiber was reacted with gaseous silicon monoxide which is produced from pack-powder mixture at elevated temperature. As a result of the reaction, two kinds of SiC fiber were obtained. The first one was SiC fibers which were converted from carbon fiber. The fiber is constituted with polycrystal like fine grains or monolithic crystals that have a size from sub-micron to $10\;{\mu}m$. Their size depends on the temperature during the conversion reaction. The second one was ultra-fine SiC fibers that were found on the surface of the converted SiC fibers. The ultra-fine fibers have diameters from 0.08 to $0.2\;{\mu}m$ and their aspect ratio were larger than 100. The chemical composit ion of the ultra-fine fibers was analyzed using an Auger electron spectroscopy. In result, the fibers consist of 51% silicon, 38% carbon and 11% oxygen by weight.
In order to develop and take full advantage of pasture fiber and waste concrete, this article studied how different amounts of pasture fiber influenced the toughness and pore structure of concrete with different replacement rates of recycled fine aggregate. Pasture fiber recycled concrete constitutive equations were established under idealized stiffness and toughness damage rate, based on fracture energy and damage mechanics theories. The relationship between pore structure and toughness was studied utilizing nuclear magnetic resonance and fractal theory. The toughness of text groups (0% (JZ), 10% (ZS10), 20% (ZS20)) first increased and then decreased with increasing amounts of pasture fiber, based on the damage rate of toughness. The toughness of concrete samples with recycled fine aggregate and pasture fiber is negatively correlated to the fractal dimension of small and medium-sized pores with a pore size of 0-500 nm. At a replacement rate of 10% of the recycled fine aggregate, the fractal dimension of the air voids (r: 500-9000 nm, i.e., Lg(r) ∈ [2.7, 3.9]) shows a gradual decrease with the increase of grass fiber dosage, indicating that with such a replacement rate of the recycled fine aggregate, the increase of pasture fiber can reduce the complexity of the pore structure of the air voids (500-9000 nm).

Ultra-fine fibers are spun by expensive fiber spinning technology using special spinnerets. Ultra-fine fibrous materials have attracted considerable attentions because of their potential applications as high performance wiping cloths, water absorbent sound proofing materials and moisture transfer sporting good. However, production expense of ultra-fine fibers is 5 to 7 times higher than general textile materials. The objective of this research is to develop cost-effective recycling process to produce multi-functional ultra-fine fibrous material in terms of the development of garnetting and carding machines for ultra-fine fibrous material waste and scrap. The efficiency of sound absorption for the recycled polyester nonwoven increased with decreasing length and thickness of component fibers, which was attributed to the reduction of air permeability. It is expected that high value and cost-effective textile products are developed using ultra-fine fibrous wastes and that sound proofing material and oil absorbent f
This study was carried out to discuss the feasibility of wood and plastic wastes as the raw materials for wood particle-plastic composites. For this purpose, composites were manufactured from coarse and fine wood particles and polypropylene fibers by nonwoven web process. And the effect of wood particle size on the performance of the composites were analyzed according to ASTM D 1037-93. In the physical properties of composites, water absorption decreased with the increase of target density and polypropylene fiber content. And the composites with fine wood particles appeared to have slightly lower water absorption than those with coarse wood particles. Thickness swelling did not vary significantly with the increase of target density but increased with the increase of wood particle content. And the composites with fine wood particles were significantly lower in thickness swelling than those with coarse wood particles. In the mechanical properties of composites, dry and wet MOR showed the increasing tendency with the increase of polypropylene fiber content and target density. Dry and wet MOE showed the increasing tendency with the increase of target density but only wet MOE exhibited the increasing tendency with the increase of polypropylene fiber content. Composites with fine wood particles appeared to be generally higher in wet MOR and MOE than those with coarse wood particles. In conclusion, composites with fine wood particles showed generally higher performance than those with coarse ones. Also, composites were significantly superior to control particleboards in the performance, especially in water absorption and thickness swelling.

This research was conducted to investigate the morphological characteristics of fine fibers produced during beating process of high yield pulp treated with ozone and the distribution of lignin in the produced fine fibers. Thermomechanical(TMP) pulp and chemithermomechanical(CTMP) pulp of spruce and CTMP of white birch were beaten to reach 200$m\ell$ CSF, and then the fine fibers were observed using ultraviolet microscope. The fine fibers produced from TMP and CTMP of spruce using treated with ozone for 15 minutes were fragments of fiber surfaces or cell corners, and most of them contained lignin. However, lignin was not observed in the fibers after 15 minutes of ozone treatment. The fine fibers produced from CTMP of white birch were broken pieces or fragments of fiber surfaces or cell corners. The lignin was observed in the fibers until 5min of ozone treatment but no lignin was observed after 5 minutes of ozone treatment. Different morphological characteristics of TMP and CTMP explained both the different morphological characteristics and the distribution of lignin observed in the fine fibers produced from the beating process of TMP and CTMP treated with ozone.

Hot stretching focused on the improvement of properties of poly(L-lactic acid) fiber. Some aliphatic polyesters are biodegradable under microbial attack and the new unique applications are expected. Generally, these materials have a somewhat low melting temperature and low mechanical properties compared with the aromatic polyesters. In this study, melt-spinning of poly(L-lactic acid) was conducted. We investigated effects of the stretching and the molecular orientation of aliphatic polyester fibers on the change of fine-structure. Glass transition temperature, molecular orientation and crystallinity increased according to the increase of stretching ratio.
In this paper, we have investigated on collection efficiency of fine particle of glass fiber-filter bag according to the surface treatment. The solution consisted of polytetrafluoroethylene(teflon), graphite powder, silicon resin and water was used as a basic surface treatment agent. Tensile strength of glass filter-bag increased with up to 3hrs and then decreased with surface treatment time. Tensile strength and initial modulus of the glass fiber-filter bag treated by iodine after basic surface treatment for 3hrs were lower than those of basic surface treatment for 3hrs, however collection efficiency and fracture strain were higher than those of basic surface treatment for 3hrs. Glass fiber-filter bag with lower initial modulus and more strain will be extend the durable period and the one treated by iodine after basic surface treatment 3or 3hrs is expected high collection efficiency of fine particle. This method makes it possible to manufacture glass fiber-filter bag of the optimum condition.
Electroconductive fiber was obtained by acryl fiber treated with $CuSO_4$. The Properties and structure of fiber and fabric such as mechanical property, electrical conductivity, fine structure, electrification were investigated. The experimental results are as follows 1) The electrical conductivity of the conducting fiber was greatly increased but fine structure and physical properties were similar to acryl fiber 2) Fabric made by mix spinning with conducting fiber was shown great electrification effect. 3) In the mix spinning with conducting fiber, it was necessary to use different. finishing such as milled finish because stiffness of fabric made by mix spinning with conducting fiber was increased and elastic recovery was decreased. 4) The antimicrobial activity of electroconductive fiber blended wool was effective by Cu component for shake flask test.

This study analyzed and compared the flowing and strength properties of mortar depending on the different fine aggregate replacement ratios and whether or not the mixing of PVA fiber was applied. blast furnace slag, red mud, and silica fume that are industrial by-products were used for the analysis. The findings showed that higher replacement level of fine aggregate increased air content while decreasing the table flow. In addition, in case of the compressive strength, Plain mortar and PVA fiber with the replacement ratios of 15% and 30%, respectively showed the greatest strength development.
