봄철과 가을철 용인지역 입자상 물질의 이온 농도 (Ion Concentrations of Particulate Matter in Yongin in Spring and Fall)

  • Mass and ion concentrations of $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ were measured in Yongin, downwind of the Seoul metropolitan area. Twenty-four hour average samples were collected daily for a month or so in spring and fall of both 2007 and 2008. Asian dust occurred twice in each period except in the fall of 2007. During the Asian dust period, nitrate in fine particles decreased since large amount of cations in coarse particles of Asian dust absorbed it. In spring 2008, sulfate as well as ammonium also increased in coarse particles. In spite of occasional Asian dust events, the influence of secondary formation was dominant over the period. Excessive ammonium over sulfate was enough to neutralize nitrate as well. High correlation coefficients between $K^+$ and sulfate, nitrate, and ammonium indicate a close relationship between secondary formation and biomass burning. Biomass burning and open burning are considered to be important sources of chloride.

  • 본 논문에서는 한국의 미세먼지 발생원인을 분석하는 과정에서 기존 논문에서는 고려하지 않았던 지역 간 공간상관성(Spatial correlation)을 고려한 패널계량분석을 진행하였다. 기존 환경쿠즈네츠곡선(EKC, Environmental Kuznets Curve)에 대한 연구들에서, 인접한 국가 및 지역 간에 오염물질의 상호영향이 존재할 가능성이 있음에도 각 유닛이 독립이라고 가정한다. 본 논문에서는 한국의 미세먼지농도에 대한 지역 패널데이터를 이용하여 기존 EKC가 지역의 상호상관성을 고려하는 때도 성립할 수 있으며, 이러한 영향을 고려하지 않았을 때 미세먼지농도의 원인에 대해 과소 혹은 과대 추정될 수 있음을 규명하였다.

항공기 기내 청소노동자의 분진, 초미세먼지(PM2.5) 및 블랙카본 노출수준 평가 (Exposure Assessment of Dust, Ultra Fine Dust(Particulate Matter 2.5, PM2.5) and Black Carbon among Aircraft Cabin Cleaners)

  • Objectives: Aircraft cabin cleaning work is characterized by being performed within a limited time in a narrow and enclosed space. The objective of this study was to evaluate the exposure levels to dust, ultra fine dust(PM2.5) and black carbon(BC) among aircraft cabin cleaners. Methods: Active personal air sampling for respirable dust(n=73) and BC(n=47) was conducted during quick transit cleaning(cabin general and vacuum-specific) and seat cover replacement and total dust and PM2.5 were area-air-sampled as well. Also, size distribution of particle was identified with the cleaning workers targeted. Dusts were collected with PVC filters using gravimetric analysis. The concentration of PM2.5 and the particle size distribution were measured with real-time direct reading portable equipment using light scattering analysis. The concentration of BC was measured by aethalometer(filter-based real-time light absorption analysis instrument). Results: The geometric mean of respirable dust was the highest at vacuum cleaning as 74.4 ㎍/m3, following by replacing seat covers as 49.3 ㎍/m3 and cabin general cleaning as 47.8 ㎍/m3 . The arithmetic mean of PM2.5 was 4.83 ~ 9.89 ㎍/m3 inside the cabin, and 28.5~44.5 ㎍/m3 outside the cabin(from bus and outdoor waiting space). From size distribution, PM2.5/PM10 ratio was 0.54 at quick transit cleaning and 0.41 at replacing seat covers. The average concentration of BC was 2~7 ㎍/m3, showing a high correlation with the PM2.5 concentration. Conclusions: The hazards concentration levels of aircraft cabin cleaners were very similar to those of roadside outdoor workers. As the main source of pollution is estimated to be diesel vehicles operating at airports, and it is necessary to replace older vehicles, strengthen pollutant emission control regulations, and introduce electric vehicles. In addition, it is necessary to provide as part of airport-inftastructure a stable standby waiting space for aircraft cabin cleaners and introduce a systematic safety and health management system for all workers in the aviation industry.

제주지역 미세먼지의 오염원 규명에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Source Apportionment of the Atmospheric Fine Particles in Jeju area)

  • Samples of size-fractionated PM10 (airborne particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter less than $10\mu\textrm{m}$) were collected at an urban site in Jeju city from May to September 2002. The mass concentration and chemical composition of the samples were measured. The data sets were then applied to the CMB receptor model to estimate the source contribution of PM10 in Jeju area. The average PM10 mass concentration was 28.80$\mu\textrm{g}/m^3$ ($24.6~33.49\mu\textrm{g}/m^3$), and the FP (fine particle with aerodynamic diameter less than $2.l\mu\textrm{m}$ fraction in PM10 was approximately 8% higher than the CP (coarse particle with aerodynamic diameter greater than $2.l\mu\textrm{m}$ and less than $10\mu\textrm{m}$ fraction in PM10. The CP composition was obviously different from the FP composition, that is, the most abundant water soluble species was nitrate ion in the FP, but sulfate ion in the CP. Also sulfur was the most dominant element in the FP, however, sodium was that in the CP. From CMB receptor model results, it was found that road dust was the largest contributor to the CP mass concentration (45% of the CP) and ammonium nitrate, domestic boiler, and marine aerosol were major sources to the CP mass. However, the secondary aerosol was the most significant contributor to the FP mass concentration (45% of the FP). In this study, it was suggested that the contributions of soil dust and gasoline vehicle became very low due to collinearity with road dust and diesel vehicle, respectively.

황사와 비황사기간의 중금속 농도분포 특성: 2001년 황사기간에 대한 비교연구 (The Influence of the Asian Dust on the Metallic Composition of Fine and Coarse Particle Fractions)

  • In this study the distribution patterns of the metallic components were analyzed both before and after the Asian Dust (AD) events at 2001 by comparing the chemical composition of metallic components in terms of various statistical methods. According to the AD/NAD concentration ratio of metallic components, the main components of crustal soils were exhibiting the values above 1.0; but opposite results were seen dominantly for hazardous metallic components. Examination of fine-to-coarse (F/C) ratios of metallic components showed higher values for major anthropogenic components including Pb (5.83). Ni (2.61), etc. Comparison of our measurement data with those obtained within and across the Korean peninsula indicated that the metallic distribution patterns of the study area can be distinguished from previous studies. The results of our analysis, when investigated in relation with air mass movement patterns. indicated evidence of the direct influence of AD events and anthropogenic processes.

국내 배경지역 대기 미세먼지의 기류 이동경로별 조성변화: 2013년 측정 (Composition Variation of Atmospheric Fine Particulate Matters in Accordance with Air Mass Transport Pathways at Background Site of Korea in 2013)

  • The collection of fine particulate matter samples was made at Gosan site of Jeju Island, one of the background sites of Korea, during a year of 2013, and their water-soluble ionic species were analyzed in order to examine the chemical compositions and pollution characteristics. The concentrations of $nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NH_4{^{+}}$, $NO_3{^{-}}$, and $K^+$ had occupied 66.0% of water-soluble ionic species in $PM_{10}$, especially 94.3% in $PM_{2.5}$ fine mode, however the $nss-Ca^{2+}$ and $Na^+$ showed high concentrations in $PM_{10-2.5}$ coarse mode. $NO_3{^-}/nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$ concentration ratios in $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{10-2.5}$ were 0.30 and 0.13, showing less significant effect from automobile and local pollution sources. The sulfate and nitrate compounds were presumed to be long-range transported to Gosan area by the relatively high SOR and NOR values. The trajectory cluster analysis showed the higher concentrations of the major secondary pollutants ($nss-SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NO_3{^{-}}$, $NH_4{^{+}}$) and $nss-Ca^{2+}$ when the air masses had moved from China continent and Korean peninsula into Gosan area.

수치모델을 이용한 인공증우에 따른 PM10 저감효과 분석 (Analysis of PM10 Reduction Effects with Artificial Rain Enhancement Using Numerical Models)

  • Recently, interest in the possibility of a washout effect using artificial rain enhancement technology to reduce high-concentration fine dust is growing. Therefore, in this study, the reduction rate of PM10 concentration according to the amount of artificial rain enhancement was calculated during Asian Dust event which occurred over the Korean Peninsula on March 29, 2021 using air quality model [i.e., Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ)] combined with the mesoscale model for artificial rain enhancement (i.e., WRF-MMS). According to WRF-MMS, the washout effect lasted 5 hours, and the maximum precipitation rate was calculated to be 1.5 mm hr-1. According the CMAQ results, the PM10 reduction rate was up to 22%, and the affected area was calculated to be 6.4 times greater than that of the artificial rain enhancement area. Even if the maximum amount of precipitation per hour is lowered to 0.8 mm hr-1 (about 50% level), the PM10 reduction rate appears to be up to 16%. In other words, it is believed that this technique can be used as a direct method for reducing high-concentration fine dust even when the artificial rain enhancement effect is weak.

대구지역 겨울철과 봄철 미세먼지의 수용성 이온성분 특성 (Characteristics of Water Soluble Ions in Fine Particles during the Winter and Spring in Daegu)

  • Atmospheric $PM_{2.5}$ and $PM_{10}$ were measured to investigate their levels and water-soluble ions(${SO_4}^{2-},\;{NO_3}^-,\;{NO_2}^-,\;Cl^-,\;{NH_4}^+,\;Na^+,\;Ca^{2+},\;Mg^{2+},\;and\;K^+$) in Daegu between February 17 and April 18, 2006. Four Asian dust episodes during the period were examined for the influence of Asian dust on the particulate properties. Daily $PM_{2.5}\;and\;PM_{2.5-10}$ concentrations ranged between $10.83{\sim}136.76{\mu}g/m^3$ with a mean of $38.43{\mu}g/m^3$ and $16.13{\sim}409.13{\mu}g/m^3$ with a mean of $79.98{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. For all measured ions the mean fractions of $PM_{2.5}\;and\;PM_{2.5-10}$ were 51.8% and 28.9% being lowered to 30.7% and 9.4%, respectively, during the dust episodes. Secondary ions (i.e., non-sea salt ${SO_4}^{2-},\;{NO_3}^-,\;and\;{NH_4}^+$) contributed 44.3% and 14.8% to $PM_{2.5}\;and\;PM_{2.5-10}$, respectively, with a decreased contribution during the episodes. The average equivalent ratio of ${NH_4}^+$ to the sum of ${SO_4}^{2-}\;and\;{NO_3}^-$ was 0.99 and 0.89 for $PM_{2.5}\;and\;PM_{2.5-10}$, respectively, indicating high source strength of $NH_3$ and its dominance in the neutralization of the acidic ions. Correlations and charge balance between ions suggest that neutralization of the acidic ions results in substantial depletions of carbonate both in $PM_{2.5}\;and\;PM_{2.5-10}$ and chloride only in $PM_{2.5}$.

지하철 미세먼지에 의하여 유발되는 피부염증에 대한 달맞이꽃 뿌리 추출물의 완화 효과 (Relaxing Effect of Evening Primrose Root on Skin Irritation Caused by Particulate Matter in Subway Tunnel)

  • 인간의 피부가 지하철 터널과 같은 외부환경에서 고농도의 입자 먼지(PM2.5, PM10)에 장시간 노출되면 피부에 나쁜 영향을 받게 된다. 특히, 미세입자 먼지는 피부를 손상시켜 염증과 알러지 반응을 일으킨다. 본 연구에서는 달맞이꽃뿌리 추출물이 피부에 미세입자 먼지가 반응하여 피부손상을 유발할 때 피부염증 저해능력을 조사하였다. 입자형태의 먼지는 지하철에서 하루에 가장 높은 농도로 존재할 때 수집하였다. 달맞이꽃뿌리 추출물은 대조군에 비하여 강한 항산화능을 보였다 (62.6%). 미세입자 형태와 달맞이꽃뿌리 추출물의 혼합물은 일산화질소 생성을 억제하여 달맞이꽃뿌리 추출물이 미세입자 먼지에 의하여 유발되는 피부염증을 완화하는 효과가 확인되었다. 달맞이꽃뿌리 추출물은 세포독성이 대조군에 비하여 낮았다. 입자형태의 먼지(PM10)를 세포에 노출시켰을 때 달맞이꽃뿌리 추출물의 농도를 증가시킬수록(5, 10, 20 ㎍/mL) 활성산소 수준이 감소함과 동시에 양성 대조군에 비하여 더욱 효과적이었다. 따라서 본 연구결과는 달맞이꽃뿌리 추출물이 미세입자 형태의 먼지에 의하여 유발되는 피부 손상을 완화시킬 수 있는 효능을 제공하여 피부용 화장품 소재로 활용이 가능함을 입증하였다.

한국 남부지역 가로수종 잎 미세구조와 미세먼지 흡착량의 계절 변화: 가시나무, 종가시나무, 참가시나무, 동백나무, 왕벚나무 중심으로 (Seasonal Changes in the Absorption of Particulate Matter and the Fine Structure of Street Trees in the Southern Areas, Korea: With a Reference to Quercus myrsinifolia, Quercus glauca, Quercus salicina, Camellia japonica, and Prunus × yedoensis)

  • 본 연구는 한국 남부지역의 주요 조경수 가시나무(Quercus myrsinifolia), 종가시나무(Quercus glauca), 참가시나무(Quercus salicina), 동백나무(Camellia japonica), 왕벚나무(Prunus × yedoensis) 등 5수종을 대상으로 계절별 미세먼지 흡착량 및 수종별 잎 표면 미세구조와의 관계를 연구하였다. 계절별 미세먼지 흡착량 범위는 1월(31.51~110.44 ㎍/cm2), 11월 (23.20~79.30 ㎍/cm2), 5월(22.68~76.90 ㎍/cm2), 8월(9.88~49.91 ㎍/cm2) 순으로, 8월보다 1월에 54.4% 더 높은 미세먼지 흡착량을 보였다. 잎 표면에 홈이 있고 털을 갖고 있으며, 왁스층 함량이 높은 Q. salicina는 미세먼지 입자 크기별 흡착량이 높게 유지되었으며, 광택이 있고 잎 표면이 매끄러우며, 왁스층 함량이 낮은 C. japonica와 Prunus × yedoensis는 계절별 미세먼지 흡착량이 낮았다. 엽면적 크기, 기공밀도 및 기공 길이의 증가는 PM 흡착량의 감소와 관련이 있고 반면, 잎 표피 거칠기, 왁스층 함량, 기공 폭의 증가는 PM 흡착량의 증가와 관련이 있었다. 또한, 잎 표면 왁스층 함량이 증가할수록 잎 표면 PM 흡착량도 증가하였으며, PM10, PM2.5 보다는 PM0.2와 관련이 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 앞으로 개별 수종에 대한 미세먼지 저감 효율을 정량적으로 판단할 수 있는 기준을 통한 저감 수종 선발과 더불어 미세먼지 저감을 위한 숲 조성 가이드라인 또한 제시되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.
